In my opinion it is a way of forcing new technology on the general public that they do not want or really need. All of this is a result of "global warming" which I for one do not accept. If you go bac

This is completely off topic , but its gut wrenching for me..

i run a plumbing business, and have done under this business name for the last 17 years .but that's just a fraction of my 40 years doing what i love

today ... well lets call them nuckledraggers appeared in my town with MY company name on the side of their vehicle . i had wind of this 2 months ago . i set in place my actions .

but today it was all too real, these, f__ks who are a super big corporation made their mark by sticking a kid in a vehicle with my company logo on the side of it.

Short story long... it truly stuffed up my Friday , now all i can think about is what i can do to protect my reputation , that i have worked hard for, for the last 30 plus years. first call was to my lawyer who told me , they can do that... so i am, gutted. truly gutted.

i do have one angle with trasdemarking my trade name but that justA means i have to pay lawyers to justA fy my business name .. another wtf moment. and then i have to take the nuckledragger to court... not easy here in nz.

so a really happy happy joy joy day. hahaha.

Justa, pass me that bow and arrow! hahaha:rofl:

This is horrible kiwi! NZ does have trademarking, so I presume you never trademarked your company name? If not you need to find out if this company has or if they have started the process. If they have not than you need to file immediately! But if they have started the process then you need to find out what the law is in NZ for filing! There are circumstances, depending on the law in a given country, that sometimes can recognize first to file, other counties recognize first to use. Unfortunately your lawyer is probably not well versed in trademarking law so you need to talk to one who is, but you could start with a call to your NZ trademarking government office.

That’s great to hear! I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞! People like that are JustA plain evil. It’s not a mistake, it’s not incompetence! It’s purposeful & calculated!

While there may be nothing we can do, we have your back in any way we can, as Steve said!

We had a 5.6 earthquake justA before mid night, the boss was not happy at all, and since then we have had another 29 after shocks.

no damage thankfully but a few objects made it to the floor.

We have geonet on our phones and all the shakes where centred 15kms away directly under lake Taupo.

Kiwi, I KNOW you have contacted all your regular customers to inform them of the encroaching newbies. If you can keep your regulars and tell them to spread the word, it won't cost you a cent, and should keep you awash in fancy cars.

When the lake blows and it's Hell on earth, can I have the Camaro? Thanks.

the 63 year old spot welds on the power window mount bracket had broken.

565B7EF5-D049-41D2-82AE-E5A0E397C3DE.jpeg

It was a easy fix, but i was worried it would stuff up the chrome on that "c" section that holds the bottom of the glass..

i think it came out ok, and the chrome is intact!:dancingpontiac:

i will take the repaired frame and glass to my glazer mate and he can fit the channel back onto the glass.

Nice fix. One day, I started to wind the window down on an old Holden and the glass let go and dropped to the bottom of the door, smashing instantly. Yours might have done the same, except on the way up! Old cars. Can't get enough of this shit!

Had the same thing happen to my drivers door window. The beauty of mig welders is that the heat is concentrated to a small area which helps to save the chrome.

one of the bad things about classics is that the steel is not nearly as corrosion resistant as the newer blends. But I still plan on driving my 63 to the end.

Glad your episode had a happy ending.

Dwight , I was so pleased I didn’t bugger up the chrome when I mig it !!

and your dead right ! This is one part of our cars that Rots out as the water sits in the channel !

It is not just the channel, my left door is starting to show a rust spot just behind the fold where the skin goes on down in the area of the door hinge. When I did the body work and painted it several years ago that spot was not there. There is a reason they call it cancer, if you don't cut it out it just keeps going. When I did the body work I had to fix some repair work done by Jack the ripper at the wheel openings. The right front fender was so bad I started checking around to see if I could find a replacement. There is a Pontiac wrecking yard about two hours east of me and they did not have a right fender or know where one might be. Lots of lefts but no right. I spent the better part of the day with the fender on the welding table rebuilding the supports, anchor points etc before I had something that would work. I have a small Harbor Freight mig welder I keep around just for sheet metal work. It will run .025 wire which works great on thin sheet metal.

But as you say, we love the old stuff because it is fixable. The accursed SL I had you needed a PHD in JB Weld to put the worthless plastic interior parts  back together any time you tried to do anything.

My granddaughter has an 07 beetle. The last time I worked on it both interior door pulls were on the floor. It is so common that there are about 30 vendors on EBAY advertising them. I found some from China made from aluminum. When the Chinese can improve on your design you really need to get your s... together. Are you listening Germany?

Glad the glass is OK.
