I turned 16 and my parents were looking for a car to buy me. At the time I was still far into technology and didn't give much about cars. They were just a means to get from one place to another. However earlier in my life I was more into cars, as my dad has had a 80 Trans Am Turbo, so I grew up with Pontiac being the sports car brand. So one day my parents found a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE sedan and we got it. I eventually fell in love with it. A couple of months ago I hit some bad luck and ended up in an accident with that car and it was totalled. It made me quite sad... So back to looking again. I really wanted something with a Manual Transmission, as driving automatic is just... kinda.. bleh to me, but after finding a few nice GA GTs on Craigslist for pretty cheap, I decided on this $1,700 red GA GT coupe with 240,000 miles, and now I absolutely love this one. Hopefully she shall last me for a bit... =)

My latest one is the '02 Grand Prix SE sedan (pic posted yest). Got it a model yr old in '03. A cream puff with 10000 miles (16000 Km) on it. Paid prime $$ because of the low mileage and mint condition.. I loved the way it handled, even tho I expect GT's and GTP's have better. It has the 3.1 v6, but has pretty good juice, and gives 30+ at highway speed. Can haul a good payload too- big trunk! It's stayed reliable for us.. I hanker for a GTP coupe though- wouldn't mind scorin' another cream puff as a keeper.

My first Pont was a '54 in '64. Was modified by the previous owner- he cut a hole in the roof for access and built a camper top over it and down into the trunk by removing the trunk lid! I never saw it that way- he'd filled the access hole and repainted it (with a brush) by the time I got it for $200.. I learned to do body work on that car- long story. But it did fairly well against the brand new '65 Ford Galaxie. And was much cheaper to fix!

The GAGT is an all around very good compromise in most of the areas I needed when I bought it. Having kids, 4 doors. Quick enough to get in trouble if you wanted to I suppose, not "fast", I said quick lol has decent options, looks good, and it had COOPER tires on it when I saw it!! c'mon, I had to have it!

My 1997 Monte Carlo Z34 was giving me lots of problems and was on the way to breaking again ( literally had it in the shop the day before) then we made the decision I was going to get a SUV or crossover. I am getting quite involved in dog sports and needed something that can haul lots of equipment) I had my eye on the G8 for half a yr. drove by and kept pointing it out to the husband.. We looked at the terrain, Durango, Cherokee. But I didn't want a vehicle that was like everyone else's I wanted to stand out from the crowd just like with my monte. Finally we needed up test driving the G8 and the rest is history, had her for just over a yr now

My monte, still miss this car

Can still haul all my equipment. This is with a tent and sleeping stuff as well lol

I got mine mostly because it was the best deal on the lot when our 02 Grand Caravan Sport started puking up its transaxle, suffering a host of smaller failures, and is literally rusting away underneath. However, I am pleased it was a Pontiac that was available as a replacement. I've had it bad for Pontiacs ever since I used to watch the Smokey and the Bandit movies and(dare I say it), Knight Rider as a kid. And the old,old chromed up Bonneville my grandfather's brother had left quite an impression on me as a child too. And, once or twice, I drove one friends '63 Star Chief and another friend occasionally loaned me his 1980 Trans Am.

I have been a Pontiac fan since the beginning. I was raised by my grandmother, she had a '63 Catalina. That was the first car I ever drove. As a kid, I remember always admiring Pontiacs. My uncle had a '65 Grand Prix, and I can still see with intricate detail, the view from the back seat of that car. The big chrome console, the shifter, the gauges, the grab bar. I really liked the stacked headlights, just like grandma's car. That Grand Prix had that burbling idle...unforgettable. So later, as a young driver, I was really impressed by the older kids' cars. There were mustangs, camaros, road runners, just all that. Then I got to drive a '64 GTO. I wanted to buy that car so bad, but grandma wouldn't have it. It was red, and had Keystone Klassic mags, 4-speed, and ohhh was it FAST! That pretty much did it for me, I wanted nothing to do with what everyone else was driving, I wanted a Pontiac. I had to settle for a '67 buick skylark 4 door (horrors). I saved my money for the GTO. By the time I had the money, the GTO was gone. Then I got a '72 chevelle coupe. It was pretty fast, especially for a 350 two barrel. Then FINALLY, I sold the chevelle and used the money to buy a '73 Pontiac Le Mans Sport Coupe. It was valencia gold with big white stripes going down both sides. That car was sweet! I loved that car.

Through the years, I have had 17 Pontiacs. I still own 4. I bought my '75 Grand Prix because it had been about 5 yrs without a Pontiac V-8, and enough was enough!! A couple yrs after that, I saw the '73 Grand Ville, and always wanted a convertible, so I brought that home. A couple yrs later, I was talking to a guy that I just met, and of course, I started talking Pontiacs. I mentioned how I would love to have a '73-75 Grand Am, and he said that he had just gotten one! I asked if it was for sale, and he said the only reason he bought it was to flip it. So, I bought that and the '73 Le Mans parts car that came with it. I would love to have a GTO again, but they are now way beyond my means. This is an addiction, but I love it so!

My name is Gudfinnur from Iceland. Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to own a muscle car. Few years ago a great car club was made for cruising old and new classics and having fun (no racing). Cadillacs, Mustangs, Chevys.... all cruising in the city centre once a week, surprising all the tourists ;)

So it was 4 years ago I looked for a car and found this TA77, one of my dream car since I saw Smokey and the Bandit when it came out in 1977.

I was looking for a 69 Mustang but after all Im so glad I got this Pontiac ;) It has been a great fun cruising and car shows!

It might sound weird but I had a dream one night when I was 15 that I had a firebird and lived near the beach and was happy and blah blah blah life goes on. I bought my first car right after turning 16, which I hated. (1999 escort). For 6+ months I tried selling this car and as soon as it sold I found my firebird on craigslist (of all places). After not getting a response from the first email I sent the owner, I sent another one a week later. The next weekend, it was set up that I was going to "look at" this car. I decided as soon as I saw it that it was mine and brought it home for $1500 and still have it 2 1/2 years later.

The only thing this car owes me is a cruise along the coast now. Which won't be happening for a while. After listing it for sale for a few days recently I decided to take it down and keep it. A girl can never have too many vehicles right? :)

My first car was a hand me down 91 grand prix se from my mom. Loved that car. Unfortunately, within a few months of driving it, it started eating oil and losing compression, so it was time to move on.

Within about 2 weeks, i got a call from my dad saying they had gotten a 96 firebird in on trade that had a few small issues, but was other wise extremely clean. Ended up buying it just a few days later. I drove that car daily for about 2 years before i had modded it to the point that it just wasnt fun unless it was nice and dry out, so i picked up a 93 grand prix for a winter beater.

About a year later, i got a huge promotion at work, and just so happens that the mother in law had just been in a car accident and needed a car. I sold her the grand prix and bought my 2000 bonneville.

Then, later this past year, the goodguys hotrod show came to town and we drove my firebird to it. My daughter loved it. Problem is, the wife hated the ride, but agreed we needed something nice to cruise in and such, so i talked her into a GTO. Picked up my 04 about a month later

So what do you plan to do to her? From the photo, there is obviously the need for some paint work. The rest is not obvious to the rest of us.

What is preventing you from having that long cruise along the beach (besides time and perhaps money)? You also didn't say which beach either!

I am glad you are starting to "live the dream" !!!!

I had a Marina Turquoise 66 GTO during my last couple of years of high school. It was a four speed, no PS, no PB, no A/C car. It was a fun car, just a little hot in the summer. No A/C in Texas is bad news and it seemed to always run hot. Just out of high school I saw a 69 Mayfair Maize Judge sitting in front of a local car dealership. I went inside to ask about it and they had just traded for it. This was in 1971 so it was a couple years old. It had A/C, PB and PS, but unfortunately an automatic. I bought it anyway. It was a fun car to drive and got lots of attention. I will always remember this guy in town that had a 70 SS 454 Chevelle jacked up, 4.88 gears, bumpy cam and the whole bit. He kept wanting to drag race me, but you guys probably know most Pontiacs back then had highway gears so it was a no brainer to not race this guy. One night he kept nagging and I said let's go. He asked where, thinking we were going to the local drag strip, a county road with a good mile straight stretch. He was surprised when I said the name of the town we were going to race to - about 30 miles away. That shut him up, We never raced and he never said another thing about it. He knows if he had been stupid enough to try something like that, I would have had to go back and pick up up somewhere along the way since he would have blown that 454 with those gears.

Any way, after raising the daughters, getting them through college and getting a little ahead, my wife and I decided it was time, and after a long search we now we have the 67 GTO in the garage. She enjoys it almost as much as I do.
