  1. A lot of very nice Pontiacs there. I always enjoy seeing pictures of other cars shows, especially ones I know that I wouldn't be able to attend. Thanks for sharing. 👍
  2. Congrats to all. Ringo, You asked for a larger picture. Hopefully the one I attached will work. Let me know if it doesn't. Thanks, Rick
  3. Attended the Disney-Bell Sons of American Legion Car Show 2024 yesterday, September 21, in Bowie Maryland. About 65 cars showed with 6 Pontiacs in attendance, (which is an excellent showing for Pontiacs, particularly for this area). Four of the Pontiacs placed in the Top 20 Best of Show. It was an excellent show, enjoyed by all. So here is a little "eye candy" for you all to enjoy viewing.
  4. Attended the C3 Community Christian Center Car Show on September 14th in Pasadena Maryland with 77 other cars in attendance. I missed out on a picture of a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that left early. There were 5 beautiful Pontiacs in the show. I don't think any of them placed, since they didn't announce the makes of the cars that won trophies. Anyways, as always, for your viewing pleasure.
  5. Thanks Frosty, That's what I kind of thought. It currently has a Non-vented cap. There is no charcoal canister that I see. So, I will try a Vented cap and see if that helps. Thanks again, Rick
  6. Question about Non-vented vs Vented gas cap for late 50's early 60's Pontiacs. If my car sits for more than a day, it is hard to start; sometimes taking 4 or 5 tries at starting. The car has a Non-vented gas cap on it...(1960 Pontiac). I always thought these cars were supposed to have Vented caps. I'm thinking it may be causing a vacuum effect in the gas tank, causing it to be harder to draw the fuel to the motor. So the question is: What type gas cap are you all using on your late 50's/early 60's Pontiacs? Do I need to switch to a Vented gas cap? Thanks for the help.
  7. A busy weekend. I am feeling more comfortable with the Ventura's performance. I decided to travel about an hour away to the Urbana Fire Department Car Show in Urbana, Maryland on Sunday, September 8. The car ran beautifully, and was a very pleasant trip. Close to 100 Pontiacs attended the All Pontiac Show, hosted by POCI National Capitol Area Chapter. Many fine examples of Pontiacs of all ages. I felt like I was in heaven...lol. Competition was very tight in some classes, with multiple ties of 1st, 2nd and 3rd in class. I was surprised by the lack of 55-58 Pontiacs and no wagons represented. Here are some for your viewing pleasure. For more pictures, look up on Facebook, National Capitol Area Chapter or look up Ed Flaherty: the photographer at the show. The last picture in the collage is the BEST of Show winner. Enjoy.
  8. ...and back to Car Shows in Central Maryland. The Annapolis Moose Lodge 296 Car show on September 7th, had about 175 cars in attendance in cloudy drizzly weather. Five Pontiacs were there, and none placed in the show...bummer. Because all five were excellent examples of Pontiacs. Enjoy.
  9. Recently, my friend of about a year and owns a 1964 Pontiac GP, attended another Car Show together. I have seen his car many time, but noticed something odd about his 8 lugs that I had never noticed before. He has chromed 8 lug rims; no trim rings. I have never seen chromed 8 lug rims before, and must admit, I think they look cleaner in design that 8 lugs with trim rings. I joked about his 8 lugs being one-of-a-kind and that someone spent a boat load of money getting them chromed. Today, I saw, what appears to be a 1963 Pontiac GP show on Facebook at another car show with chromed 8 lug rims. That got my curiosity going. So I did a search on chromed 8 lug rims for sale. The info I found is attached below and hopefully helps anyone who is interested. The picture of the bare chromed 8 lug rim was found on H.A.M.B. site, a set for sale. BOP sells both 15" and 16" chrome 8 lug rims. J&G does restoration and relining on 8 lug hubs. So, how many of you, that run the 8 lug setup, have chromed 8 lug rims? I would like to know. Thanks, Rick
  10. I'm going to start a new conversation about this. But for now...while I was "cruising" Facebook, apparently another example of chromed 8 lug rims showed up on a 1963 Pontiac GP at Ocean Pines, Maryland Car Show. I can not definitely identify if they are, even when I zoom in the picture. So curiosity always gets me: I go searching for chromed 8 lug rims. I have attached the information/examples that I found. 61-62 15 inch SET OF chrome 8 lugs was found on H.A.M.B. site for sale. BOP sells chromed 8 lug rims in both 15" and 16" sizes. J&G 8 lug Restoration offers to restore and reline your 8 lug hubs. Hope this helps you all.
  11. Kiwi Boni and Justa6, This is the best picture I could find of his chromed 8 lug rim, for now. I'll take more pictures next time I see his 64 Grand Prix. In the picture, notice the valve stem and how it's mounted. You do NOT see an elongated hole and trim ring, in which the valve stem protrudes through. You see the chromed 8 lug rim with the normal valve stem mount. To me, it looks a lot nicer and cleaner...but, in my opinion, not worth the expense to get four 8 lug rims chromed. I can't imagine the cost. Close up is attached. I'll get more pictures from different angles soon.
  12. I also wanted to point out that while I was at the Wheels from the Show Car Show, I noticed that my friend's 8 Lug wheels on his 1964 Grand Prix, were different. I've known this car for a year, and just realized that his 8 Lug rims have been chromed. He has no trim rings on his 8 Lugs. Must have cost some past owner a fortune to have the rims chromed...lol, but it does look sharp. I've never seen 8 lug chrome rims before...he may have the only set. If you have ever seen a set of 8 lug chrome rims before, please let me know.
  13. Another great car show on August 31, 2024. This time put on by Wheels of the Past Labor Day Car Show. I estimated about 175 cars in attendance. Of those, seven excellent Pontiacs were represented, with a diverse range being GTO's. I believe my Ventura was the only one out of our Pontiac group that nabbed a Best of Show Top 30 Trophy. (I am totally dismayed that the other Pontiacs didn't place, that I know of.) I had the Drive-In Car Hop display going this time. I was afraid the seagulls were going to steal my fake fries...lol. Any rate, enjoy the collage of the beautiful Pontiacs that attended.
  14. Had another great time. Making new friends, seeing the many awesome rides that are still in the local area. Vintage Tin of Maryland put on a very nice car show at the Linthicum Baptist Church. There were about 50 cars entered, with a good diversity of makes and models. Only two Pontiacs in the show. Mine, and a gorgeous 1967 Pontiac GTO. Enjoy the collage.
