I second Fabcraft Metalworks, I spoke to them a couple years back when I was thinking about going posi. Extremely knowledgeable people. They're not cheap, but what is now a days.

So let me get this right...nothing major except for panel, paint, engine, trans and wheels 🤔

And, it's a Pontiac 😬

Sure, you should slip that in easily a little under $80k 🤣

Haha sooo true Paul ! Nothing major … compared to what I had to do with my 64 !

fabcraftmetalworks.com should have anything you may need for your 9.3.  They specialize in them.

Thank you Tim , I see they have everything I would need 👍

I think having the factory diff is the wise move , I still have to go through and heck everything regardless of which diff I use , but I know this one’s geometry is correct !

I paid $1200 nzd for a posi head for the Camaro 12 years ago , so their price for a 9.3 one isn’t too bad 😵

Kiwi - The top code A224 is the casting date - January 22, 1964.

The. 6. 8817 code doesn’t match anything I have looked at thus far. It maybe a foundry code but it’s not matching up to anything I am looking at. Are there any other casting numbers or codes elsewhere on the diff or axle tubes?

The only markings i found was a big L on driverside tube and a 7 on the passenger side tube, so i went ahead and just spin the wheel and worked out its a 3.6ish ratio about half way between 3.5 and 3.75IMG_6295.jpeg

IMG_6296.jpeg

very productive day today, the complete frame stripped

IMG_6297.jpeg

and like any of us at at 62, a few cracks and blemishes to fix , this one in the front crossmeber that holds the lower control arm and sway bar

IMG_6298.jpeg

And finally the 63 is complete !!!! shes offically a trailer queen!!!

IMG_6300.jpeg

i would thank my team, mil and waukee

and my sponsor speights summit ultra  with out these tools it would be a much longer harder job stripping down the frame ready for prep  and paint ... which starts next weekend ....fingers crossed the boss doesnt have me lined up to build, paint, renovate, anything else !!!!!:stars:

Yeah, I have sleep issues bro. But at least its peaceful this time of night. It's been raining here off and on the last two days and stormed pretty bad last night. It's 59F and clear right now but rain again most of the week. It goes from cold in the winter to rain for a month or so then blistering hot.

I can send you a list of donor cars that I got parts from but with the 8 luggers I'm pretty sure that won't help bro.

completely understand about the sleep thing mate ! i have sleep apnia, doesnt stop me for building cars though !

yes please if you can send me what you used, i was lucky with my 64 she already had the 8 luggres and all i had to do was a fresh.

On the 63, this diff i am using, it has heaps of parts missing , i do have the backing plates but one whole drum is missing ..... hmmmm, maybe i dont disc the rear! , i could rockauto the thing !!! and do discs only on the front ! its only a cruiser not a race car !!

a willwoood $1000 rear kit is near 2 k in nzd by the time i get it here !!! might be a bit hard to convince the accounts department on that one ..........:stars:

the accounts department is about to nail me for what i about to do for the 400 motor i want to build for the 68 !!!.... i feel allllll my browny points will dissapear into the black hole when i ask for the coin to go shopping at tin indian !!!

Well, the parts list I'll send you will be what I used for the 4-wheel disk conversion on my 63'. But I will get it from the GP file in the morning and send it to you bro. My wife doesn't share our sleep issues, and I don't want to wake her up :lol2:

It's a Safari wagon - drums on the back will be ample. In fact, I'm wondering why you're bothering with the stroker. My built 389 has more power than I'll ever need.

  • Popular Post

Because brother Fitzy, a stroker in a wagon is justa cool man. No other reason needed :lol2:

And let me cast my vote right now to lower it! :naughty:

Oh, of course - I forgot. In which case, 572 cubes will barely be enough. But...nanna says drums on the back will be fine. In your own words: KISS.

Oh well, unblock a few more dunnies and you can have diamond embedded gold plated discs.

Your missus will take it for one drive, won't believe how difficult it is to manouevre (a bit bigger than a Mini) and it'll go back in the shed.

Just like Sandy Nelson, drums will be fine.

Ok bro, so the list I was able to compile of donor vehicles when I did my conversion are as follows, but like I said it probably won't help much with 8 luggers. Most of my parts came from a Riviera, but I ordered them new from my local parks house or online. Hope this helps. If there's anything else let me know.

1978-83 Chevy Monte Carlo, El Camino, Chevelle & Malibu

1978-83 Oldsmobile Cutlass & F-85

1978 -83 Pontiac Grand Prix, Tempest, Le Mans, GTO, Grand Am, & Bonniville

1979-85 Cadillac El Dorado

1979-85 Oldsmobile Toronado

1979-85 Buick Rivera
