now with the rules i had to bolt this through the floor pan and achieve a 3000mm2 area plate on the top- side, bolted with 2 x 10mm bolts toΒ  be legal,, these plates have to have a 5mm radius on the corners and the whole plate has to be arised at 1 mm... i guess so it can not cut its way clean through the floor under the stress of a drive shaft trying to shit its self !!hahahaΒ :rofl:Β Β

sorry got my pictures around the wrongway,,, first 2 are of the plates through the floor pan, last pic is of the plate i made up, and tacked the bolts to them to drop through the floorΒ

Last job of the day was to fit the freashly repaired drivers side door trimΒ

I painted the backing board to prevent it from rotting and I made a new door film from a roll of carpet protectorΒ

while fitzy was thinking about the good old dayz of paying a monkey to fix his car that he knew he would much rather be doing himself cause it would get fixed right.

He was a good monkey and I breezed through life like a dream.Β Never mind, I now spend my free days coated in grease & cleaning chemicals and scratching my head wondering how I'm gonna fix THAT!

Re, your fuel tank. Yes, I could fit a breathing cap (or just drill a hole) but fuel vapour will then escape fromΒ the cap: same problem. I really wonder how the factory approached it. Maybe they simply advised that you parked in a well ventilated space. I don't remember any of my old cars having any sort of vapour return or capture system - they just vented to the atmosphere.

My GTO has the same thing, a vent tube to nowhere.Β  Never smell gas.

Amazing all the rules and regulations they have in different place/ countries , I grew up with some of them but they also changed as the year's went by. How come all the factory cars that did not come with a loop was ok πŸ™„ Not that a loop is a bad thing.

We are truly spoiled here in CA just got back from the early morning donut shop meet and theΒ  stuff some people drive here and it's ok is amazing.

Nice loop installation and I like your exhaust.

Spent quiet a while going through all the bulbs and making sure they are all working while I had the dash pad offΒ

wayyy easier than trying to bend my old body under the dash ... but still had to do that too !! I know I will pay for that tomorrow !!! 😑

For anyone doing a swap of a lenses on a 64 speedo ... once the unit is out it’s super simpleΒ

a light metal frame holds the lense in and 4 bent / crimps hold it togetherΒ

I pulled the lense and removed years of dirtΒ

and reassembled πŸ‘πŸ˜€πŸ‘

That's a great idea - well done. You don't suppose that little cylinder was the switch? If not, I wonder what it's purpose is?

Not sure at all ... maybe Del reads this and can enlighten usΒ

as I am sure his rag top would have oneΒ

Don’t look too close mateΒ

I had to use a bit of hose as a nut to hold the second hand switch in place !!!

i am still in lock down till Wednesday ... so I am using anything I have around ....Β

and making a list of all these little things I need to buy πŸ˜€

today was all about getting the head light/ tail light circuits sortedΒ

which after finding the faults in the wires from the switch, finding the tail light plugs that had been replaced and wired wrong... 2 of the 6Β had the wires crossed and tail lights with 21watts beaming away ! instead of the 5 watt they should have.

at the end of the day i had correctly working tail lights and number plate light!!!

Any keen eyed 64 owners out there would spot the 2 middle tail lights not working!! i justA ran out of bulbs !!! and they are on my list of parts to get once i am allowed to go to the parts shop !!! ...Β

at this point i am running out of justA about everything... bloody covid:rofl:
