this will be perfect for the 64, as it has the early water jacket shape, later model stuff has a round water jacket ... but frosty can you enlighten me ?Β

Part of the manifold deal was this pair of Edelbrocks …

You, good sir, have a 1959 tri-power intake manifold for the 389.

You can run 3 2-barrel carbs or EFI. Butler has an EFI kit. Grant use to have a tri-EFI system for the Pontiac engine before they went out of business but that was a whole new manifold too (you can still find these on eBay and Marketplace). Not sure if the Butler solution is a new manifold or not, I haven't researched it.

K 19 8 is the casting date of November 19, 1958.

1959 was the year that Pontiac introduced the 389 V8 (a.k.a. the Trophy V8). Don't forget that this engine departed from the previous year's 370's reverse cooling architecture (coolant to the heads first). Pontiac continued to refine the 389 and 421 SD/HO engines for the next six years, until the 400 came out.

Does that answer your question Kiwi?

As you know, I used Rocky Rotella's book. Still got it if you'd like to 'borrow' it.

When I say borrow, what I mean is I fly over. If you give me somewhere to sleep whilst I spend a week in Taupo, you can keep it.

  • Popular Post

I second Rocky's book. Thats also what I have, and you are welcome to borrow it. By borrow I mean fly yourself to Kentucky, we'll drink backwoods bourbon all night and if we can find it in the morning you can have it.Β .

Wait, you've been reading my thread and Fitzy's thread. You know how his GP is running and how mine is running. I think my book may be broken, you may want to borrow his. But I do still have the bourbon!Β

JustA little update, the 64 is as good as finished... BUT. i have completly forgotted about the trunk floor!!!willy_nilly

Some where in her life, she has had the trunk floor replaced , probably thanks to the water based paint the factory stuck on it, any who, its been replaced and will NOT pass inspection here in nz unless it is ...

1 fully exposed so that the entry certifier can see it

2 pictures of all the butt welds are shown to the said entry inspector

3 or a document from a authorized repair shop is provided !!! pfffft ! as if i am going to let a shop weld on my car !!!!! NOT

SO

next mission is to drop the gas tank and full buff all the paint off, exposed all welds and document the lot. AND ensure that a entry certifier is happy with them.... so easy aye !!!rofl

wayyyy back in my thread you will see that i had made and fitted the mounting plate forms that where missing that attach the trunk section to the chassis ,,,D1E24179-682A-4C15-B787-F975D39E794D.jpeg

You guys can neck bourbon. I'll stick with Coors.

Let me know what flight to get on.

It certainly does brother. The stuff you go through over there justa to put your classic cars on the road justa amazes me. It should really make people on our side of the world appreciate what were allowed to do.
