BUT

A NOTE TO WATCH OUT FOR !
I haven’t got a picture … but watch out that you do not use a master cylinder with the eyeleted clip that holds the plunger into the bore of the master cylinder ! This type of c clip will cut into the seal on the front of the booster

 I will post a picture tomorrow 👍

Dang, looks like I need a different one. Someone recommended to buy this on eBay. Did you buy the one recommended at rockauto?

I'm curious how you go from one line to two? Is there and adapter block or additional line needed?

Del here is the c clip in my one

And this is the part number for the one I got off rock auto

49D11DF4-EE71-457E-839D-717AF6966D0E.jpeg

Those ears are what I was warned would cut the booster diaphragm .

easy one for you would be to just change the clip … now the plumbing

What I am going to do I will explain in pics justA for the fact it’s easier than my gibberish blah blah .. it will bore the shit out of fitzy

i will take this pipe out of the block and the pipe up to the master .

79E1CFAF-C13B-4C54-8CBA-5334FFF876D8.jpeg

take the connection that feeds the back brakes out, add a joiner socket too that male connector (as you would have a mission trying to make a flare down in against the motor)

1321A656-37AA-4D36-88B9-428D719D6BB0.jpeg

and make a new pipe up that connects to this port on the new master cylinder .

C3B71963-C861-4BF1-B19E-97B073335E7F.jpeg

then make a new pipe from this port and plumb it down onto either of the open ports on the joiner block, this will feed the front brakes, then simple add a flare plug into the spare hole.

job done... bleed the brakes

Very nice instructions! Your the man! I will order it. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

so yesterday i had the opertunity to fit the avs2 edelbrock carb.

first was remove all the bits that are not needed, this vacuum idle control was one.....

same too for this manifold heat tube for the choke...

vacuum lines off and deleted the feed to that idle control diapham....

245ECC78-3F6F-4B29-A785-83265F04E1A4.jpeg

the old and the new !!!

1DB13759-FAF3-4CD5-BAFB-425EA8D3DCE6.jpeg

my guess is that my factory carter is a 600cfm, the primarys on the edelbrock are the same size as the carter but the seconardies are justA fraction bigger... this is the avs2 1906 model 650cfm.

AE72C020-3652-4180-AAD1-1C13BEF5AD8D.jpeg

in the box came a gasket that as you can see simply wont work for my factory manifold !!

you can see the gap in the right hand side !!

CF3CF592-7DE6-4B97-83BB-98F505A72ADD.jpeg

this gasket will seal much better !!!!

also the manifold heat tube set up needs to come off and be blanked off ....

CA543651-D6E6-4656-9356-1C721C35E098.jpeg

so i have cut off the tubes .....welded up the holes....

16CDEAF7-628D-4B46-A79E-E94F76C3C2D4.jpeg

and refitted it with some hi temp silicon

1B34E634-5D42-4445-836C-DC5C04400390.jpeg

wiring for the choke is in the box tooo, which made it super easy !!!

AFA78AC9-7914-4FCD-8484-1B956C85DFEE.jpeg

with the correct an fitting my teflon fuel line was a simple do-up job.

so was the gas pedal /trans kickdown rods!!! Big thank you to Del, for pics of his set up... in the box was a brand new ball mount and all i had to do was adjust the lengths of each rod...easy as !!!!:dancingpontiac:

C8C007D5-3C81-43B7-82CF-B8F6AF66A54B.jpeg

power supply to the electric chock came form the positive side of the coil...again nice and simple,

0B931467-7439-45B4-9A5B-FF012D736EBC.jpeg

i adjusted the idle mixer and justA checked my timing again, tuned the idle with my timing light which has a tac display, edelbrock say to find max idle speed with each mixer screw then lean it back 20rpm .....

then the test drive!!!!!:dancingpontiac:

instanlty i was impressed, fantastic acceleration, the motor sounded wayyyy stronger.....cruising speed and floored it ... trans kicks down and it now sounds like a 389 growwling !!!

930B0151-2784-4C2E-AB65-53A89D4CCF34.jpeg

she is now capable of one wheel skids!! hahahaha:rofl:

Last job was to pop the air cleaner on !!!!... not going to happen!!! the carter was 4 1/4 inch inlet.... the avs....5 inch!!!:stars:

my factory air cleaner will not work......

option 1 ...... buy a new air cleaner.....

option 2..... make the factory unit fit....

i left it last night and though about what the theme is with the 64.... its a stock build...so i have decided to make the stock unit fit....

my plan...find a 5 inch air cleaner base and cut the two up and make my stock one into a 5 inch inlet, since i had already spent time earlier on making the inlet snokel bigger for better air flow into the filter housing...

i want to be able to open the hood and you see a near stock looking engine, justA to be different !!! hahaha:dancingpontiac:

B6413B20-192E-4E89-8F84-35126BC973E8.jpeg

Looking good, nice when it works right out of the box.

Same thing i did with my stock 2bbl air cleaner to make it fit on the Edelbrock.

Something else that my friend suggested and something I'm going to try is to install a delay relay for the choke so that it doesn't turn off so soon not so much for the choke but more for the fast idle , this is something he has done on several cars and claim that it makes them more drivable when they are warming up.

i brought the 57 in and parked it next to the 64, its booked to go to the gods of transport nz (vtnz) on thursday to have a vin attached and then its in the new zealand system, so i can get on with chopping it up!!

The process involves handing over its usa title and the bill of sale to prove that i am the owner and they will use the factory vin number in the door jamb and add a buch more numbers, then print a new tag that gets attached in the engine bay.

This whole process will have to happen with the 64, but because she was flagged at the boarder for that little scratch it used to have on the front fender, she will need to been seen by a "entry certifier" to be signed off that she is fixed correctly and safe to drive on nz road!!! :stars:

Great job! Nice to see how someone else does it. There are so many vacuum lines, I have no idea what goes where? Thanks for the detailed pictures! They sound like a train when you punch it!

I’m curious to know what this line does? On my car the two manifold inlets are plugged and the pcv/valley pan line connects to the front center vacuum port. Is this a bad idea?

Should be fine, that's how mine is.

What else do you need vacuum for? Brakes, distributor and heater/ ventilation?

Andy is right Del, your set up is fine, its justA vacuum port from under the throttle blades and will work the same as my manifold. i guess mine is that way as the old carter didnt have a front port for the pcv

Hi Chris, I guess its time to jump into my next restoration. I just flew to LA and SFO California to look at a 64, and 66 suburban for my 16yr old son and I. We are going with the 66 gmc suburban. Pretty clean but not as nice as Bonnie. So the green one is the 66 we are buying for 18k. Should give us some room for shipping and stuff like paint and such. The 64 was 10k more but not as clean. Plus it had rear barn doors vs clam shell. We love the tail gate look especially since we plan to make it a beach baby with surfboards everywhere.
