I had to take yesterday morning off from work. Over the weekend, my 2018 Chevy Colorado developed a slow leak. I went to the tire store on Saturday where I bought the tires, they were closed.....for a birthday party....for a 5-year old daughter of one of the employees. Hmmmm.

So I had to wait until Monday to get the tire in. I pulled down my full size spare tire to drive around on Saturday afternoon. I found the problem - the tire is lost and I need a new one. A screw right into the side wall. Crap!

What amazes me is this happened on the back side / inside of the tire and not the outside.

I dropped the tire off yesterday. The tire store had to order one. I expect it to be in today, tomorrow at the latest.

Dang, had a Dr appointment yesterday and came out to a flat.  Hooked up my 12V compressor but wasn't doing much after a half hour.  Did pick the rim off the ground/tire, but a nail through the tread.  So I used the Gold Eagle fix a flat (thankz Marcel) and got it home. I'm stuck on Coop's and Discount tire had the best price for a new set of 4.  Were suppose to call me by 3pm to install em.  Yea right.

Ok so they made it happen.  Called and I got up there an hour before closing and they mounted up all four tires and had me out by 6:05.  Happy to have that done.  Waited all day for the call, now I can head out and try N drop the Bird'a gas tank without messing up all my work.

Justa goes to show that there are screws loose everywhere!!!!

I will be picking up the new tire at lunch today.

Pulled the tank again, can't see anything wrong.  Justa gonna replace the pump with a out side of tank electric pump.  Spent the entire day trying to find a fuel pump pickup screen, nobody in the automotive world has a clue what I'm lookin for.  Replace the pump with a length of fuel line and simply add a screen end.

Even my Sea Ray boat has one and the local boat shop with a parts counter was clueless.  I know, call my Yamaha bike/snowmobile  shop.  Yea Steve  I have em, whats the prob?  Whats the biggest size you have?  3/8.... perfect, see ya in a minute.

Tomorrow will have to find a pusher pump to get the go juice to the carb.

Been tossing around what to do about an overflow canister for my '61 after the rebuild...sorted!

Powder coated aluminium, blends in, hides underneath the top plate when looking into the engine bay, 1.5l capacity, overflow/recovery system.

Pretty happy with how it turned out😎

Great site, I searched gas tank sites and did not find this one.  Found an Edelbrock 4-7lb pressure pump at local parts store for $60.00   I was not able to match my pump in the tank. (anywhere) So I'm headin down this road instead. Can't stand the heat in the garage for very long and head back in the house to cool off.

Fuel system done, 6lbs pressure...perfect, no leaks, cars starts runs/idles about 10 sec and dies.  Noticed accelerator pump doesn't have full travel. Have to pull the front bowl tomorrow and see whats up.

I went to work on the Roadmonster yesterday. I was going to work on the loose interior door panels but I went to start the car so I could move it in such a way as to open the door all the way open. That’s when I discovered the battery is dead. I plugged in my Battery Tender. The battery wasn’t taking the charge.

I took the battery out. I’ll take it to the parts store to see if a cell has died, I have a spare battery at the house already on a Battery Tender. Worse case I will let the parts store recycle the old dead battery.

I also was able to fix my pop up canopy that got wrecked at Rockingham Motor Speedway in June. I was able to to straighten the bent rod, tighten the joint nuts, and replace a screw that had been ripped out by the wind. It now opens decent enough to take to Woodward in a few weeks.

Didn't know ya wrecked the new one already.  Glad you could fix it. Runnin around is done for the day. Gotta get the lawn done so I can get to the garage.

I got two large boxes from Summit Racing today. A complete set of Powerstop Z23 Heavy Duty/Tow brake rotors and pads (front and rear) for my 2018 Chevy Colorado. The back rotors and pads are shot. I can hear metal on metal. I'm going to take the truck in and have them install the new brakes, change spark plugs (I'm just over 100k miles), and a tire rotation. It will go in justa as soon as the wife's Hummer H3 is fixed. Her Hummer goes into the shop tomorrow morning.

I dropped the Hummer H3 off this morning at the shop. As soon as it's done, in goes the pickup.

Some of you have probably been through this, but I'm sure I'll heal quicker emotionally if I share the experience 😂

It all started simply enough...

I finally found somebody locally who was able to calibrate my fuel sender/fuel gauge. As it happens I was supplied the wrong one - it fitted ok but according to the instrumentation technician the ohms range was incorrect 😡

Anyhoo...getting the arse of car high enough to give me some room to work was a bit of a challenge, although not as much as trying to balance the tank between jack stands, a trolley jack and my knees while removing the fuel sender. Nice to get an unexpected Premium Unleaded bath 😬

However when I went under the dash to remove the fuel gauge, I discovered that instead of it being an individual unit like the clock, it was part of the dash cluster. I should have known...🙄

It took me over an hour to work out the exact angle/method to extract it, by which time I was missing a fair bit of skin, and all of my patience 👿

2 days later I had my gauge cluster and sender unit back, then had to reverse the entire procedure which proved to be even more difficult. Of course the tank slipped and I ended up with it landing on my knees & chest, providing me with yet another fuel bath. After getting the tank end sorted, back I went under the dash. By the time I finally managed to reinsert the cluster, work out the location of all the bulbs, and wire in the module so my gauge would read correctly, over 2 ½ hours had passed.

Ecstatic to have it all complete, I dropped it down and attempted to start it up. Nope, that wasn't going to go to plan either. The only available fuel I had was soaked into my clothes, skin and the garage floor, so I wound it over hoping it would draw enough fuel to run until my new battery was all but flat 😟

Next day I took the battery to get checked and charged, and was lucky enough that it hadn't completely died. Back in the car  and away it went - after everything it ran just fine. And after filling the tank my fuel gauge is actually reading full, so it seems to have been all worth it 🤷‍♂️

Success!!! Congrats on your long journey into the joy of old cars Bonne61.

I'm not sure why anyone wants to bath twice in dead dinosaur juice though. Especially if you have fresh cuts or wounds.

Don't know if you have been reading my fuel system woe's.  After having the tank in/out a number of times, replaced my in tank with an outside fuel pump. Then blasting past the carb gaskets with the new 7lbs pressure.  Have had it apart more times than I can count and now waiting on a fuel pressure regulator.  At least I'm glad your up N running again.
