As long as there are toilets to unblock and rusting Pontiacs on farms dotted around UnZud, there will be a certain Kiwi dragging them home. A bit like a cat bringing a mouse in as a gift for it's master. How much more of this kind of behaviour his master (aka the Boss) can handle is anyone's guess.

New Zealand is a weird place, populated by weirdoes and yes, I would live there if it was warmer. Why should HE have all the Pontiacs?

Since they dont make Pontiacs any more i feel they will continue to go up in value and scoring them is basically collecting assets for my retirement fund :driving:

Soooo cool frosty !!!…

I am sooo thinking of a white Q ball for a update rather than a tee handle

Only because I like white

Ah yes, but you DON'T have the Frosty Memorial Tacho so now we're even.

Frosty's got all the cool gear. I suppose with a name like Frosty, it's a given that he's the King Of Cool. He'll be even cooler when he rids himself of all those junkers in his garage and buys a nice sensible little hatchback.

I'm waiting - bring it on..

Kiwi...

I will try to help as much as I can...I generally Don't like to post Specific Engine Combinations.. But in Your case..I might be willing to do so...

But First I need to know...What is it Exactly  that You have in mind and your Ultimate goal..For your Engine Build..??

Once you get that part figured out..400 CID..or are you thinking...Some sort of Stroker..??

I will have alot more Questions...Once you decide..That part of  the equation...Then We can go from there...🏁🏁

Ok

let’s start with what I have on hand ..

in the 68 is a 1970 350

on the floor in the work shop I have the 389 1963 model that Dwight gave me

and

I have a mate who is happy to sell me a 400 block

the goal …. A horny but street able combo for this 68

a stroker  engine is certainly an option

but really for street

I only need a good low down torque motor that won’t see much time in the higher revs

This 68 justA fys a Ponti engine

the 63 wagon I am building , no issues sticking the ls engine in it justA because it a nana car for the boss

It’s certainly a Pontiac diff , but I can tell that it’s been quickly wacked in the car !!! All the bolts where justA loosely installed

and since the engine had been swapped for a 1970 350

I bet they swapped out the diff too !!

It's actually not a bad looking car - gonna look good once you get stuck into it.

You could even leave the paint as it is and just clean up what you can...for that Rat look, of which I personally am such a fan of.

I have to be a fan of it because of the deplorable state of my own paint job. Having said that, lots of peeps run their hand over it and admit that they love the look of old paint. Did someone say Chick Magnet? No? Perhaps Old Geezer Magnet?

I was super surprised to find no rot under it mate

what guts me is someone’s used it as a donar car !!!
alsorts of bits are missing !!!

that 57 of mine is so honest and only that head light peak was missing and that was nicked in transit !
I like cars that haven’t been dicked with !

It’s definitely a guy magnet! It’s called “patina”.

For me, I like a car that is weather beaten, perhaps a touch of rust - SW USA style. What bugs me is a car that has been consumed by iron moths, lots of holes and cancer everywhere. That’s not cool, and perhaps even dangerous, depending on where.

The good thing for Kiwi is that the aftermarket sells virtually ever part he needs to fully restore the car.

Kiwi - the 177 code should have a letter in front of it. this is suppose to be the axle's date code. The format is:

1. A-L  means month -  January to December

2. 2 digits - date of the month the axle was built

3. 1 digit - last digit of the year the axle was built

This rear end was built from 1967 to 1972 and then again in 1975.

Therefore this was built on the 17th of some month in 1967. So I suspect this is the original rear end. As you already know, the WB means a 2.56 gear ratio.

this is soooo True Frosty ! these a bodys are very easy to get anything for ! especally compaired to our b body girls !!!

the only killer is the shipping costs ! 2 lower fender patches cost as much as the shipping to me !:stars:

i need to come up with a better plan to get the parts i need !!! opg is ca based so i should be able to get them to drop the parts off to my mate who shipped the 57 and he can stick them in his next shipping container, down side will be the delay in getting the bits, but i guess its worth it if a can save 100s of $

Guys i am looking for thoughts on who does the best sheet metal for this A body

opg and npd have the sharpest numbers for a new hood and fender patches

any body bough these and had a good or bad fiting part ? years ago i used golden star and the parts where for a tri five, the fit was 💩

Take a look at Goodmark. I suspect OPG and NPD maybe getting their metal from Goodmark.

https://www.goodmarkindustries.com/pontiac-lemans-1968/

Another source is Auto Metal Direct (AMD)

https://www.autometaldirect.com/body-components?limit=10&mode=grid

A lot of the Mopar guys, including Graveyard Carz, loves these guys.
