Men are funny. A new compressor and everybody goes gooey. Mind you, it's a good looking unit. I'm only jelly because my Ying Tong toy compressor is about half that size but keeps working.

Ask Santa for one of them SOM Ting Better compressors.🎅  I believe the Ying Tong's are Prius specific.

little up date ... scored a pair of pro stars today ... 15x8 .. not sure they will fit but they are brand new and a super good price..

i am hoping i can fit a 25560r15 tire to them and they will fit under the back of the 68 , has anyone done this ?

i do love my bfg tires ! they look fat and cool on a 60's car

I run 255 60x15s on Lucy. I have 15x7 wheels in front and 15x8 wheels in back. The backs have 4.5 inch back spacing, the fronts are 4 inch back spacing.

Indyman Joe can run a 275 60x15 on his '72. I can not. This essentially comes down to the fact that Lucy is a convertible and the storage area for the top makes the fender well for rear tires different on a convertible than a hard top.

Thanks frosty

that confirms my thoughts 👍

There is only so much eating a man can do on Christmas Day !!!

after that … you can. Sleep , walk it off , drink ,  choose to surf the net and guess what I found!!! … a hurst dual gate !!! Perrrrrrfect for the 68 !!!!

IMG_5385.png

Excellent score! Especially since the Hurst Dual Gate was an option on the. ‘68 GTO.

All you need now is a faux wood pistol grip shifter handle!!!

Nothin say's HURST like the top of a T handle....

I remembered we talked about these shifters wayyyyy back frosty and before I hit “buy now “ I  used the fp search feature to check what I was looking at !
yes this isn’t a factory 68 gto one, its a universal unit , but pffft close enough for this Ponti fan !!!
these so do not come up for sale !!! In new  Zealand !!!!

Kiwi, if you want, i can send you photos of my shifter under the console for reference.

I suspect the mechanism is the same, just in a “universal “ package. I’ll bet a ‘68-72 console and the correct shifter plate for the console and no one would know the difference.

I’m with Justa, a shifter that was the word Hurst on it, is bad ass! Thats why I have pistol grips on both Lucy and Violet.

i will hunt for a tee handle !!!

it blew me away that I came across  it

Yes please mate

but no rush ! It’s for to be shipped to me from Dunedin first and that’s when the shipping co is open again

currently there are only bits left of the factory shifter and the whole consul is missing !

the more I get into this car the more parts I am finding are missing !!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I was spoilt with the 64 and 57 they where both completely stock and missing nothing at alll ….. except that head light ring !!!

I will try to send pics this weekend.

They re-pop both the T-handle and the pistol grip. The original came with a black ball. I understand looking for one close by. If you cant find one, the aftermarket has you covered.

Mine is from either a ‘68 GTO or an early 70s HurstOlds 442.

Justa is correct. The 68 shifter and plate in the eBay ad are exactly like mine. The plate fits the 68-72 console

Gees justA! Look at the prices !!! They are not cheap !!
then change it to nzd THEN  add the freight !
I did a rock auto order yesterday and ordered all the parts for the back brakes and a couple of front wheel cylinders justA. To get some brakes working .. adding 2 drums to my order add another $100 bucks to the freight !!! So I deleted them off the order and I will send my ones away to be machined instead

anyone got a favourite front disc conversion they would recommend ?
so far the opg ones looking the best buy :dancingpontiac:

I treasure mine.  Not available till 67 in the GTO.  A fantastic friend gave me the console, shifter and a T handle on it.  Right before he passed.  Had taken the T handle in to have his name engraved.  The day after he passed they called that the engraving was done and I could pick it up.  Think of him everytime I drive my 66 GTO that I installed it in.  Thankz Brian

Thought you'd enjoy this episode of Detroit Muscle. Even though it's a Chevelle frame, this would still apply to your Lemans frame. I suspect you know a lot of this already but it's still fun to watch....and wish.

wouldn't it be nice to have the money justA to order all those goodies !!!!!!

I have been shopping !!!

i decided I need better hold up wheels so I grab a pair of pro stars …..

4C84AA02-8D03-4DE8-8EDD-A62DAF0E6934.jpeg

Then found a pair of dirty non pro stars for the front …

and polished them up … one done one not

5BAD03CD-06E2-470C-A9B8-293B232503E6.jpeg

Then I scored these limited addition nascar tires

265/60/15 and 235/60/15

B4205B14-C206-46C0-8224-0B341E0B50A0.jpeg

Yes they are new old stock , 24 years old and no good for the road but good for hold up tires while the car gets built

Then my first rock auto order arrived for rear brakes , all the components to rebuild them and a couple of slave cylinders for the front drums . All I am doing for now is making the brake system work so I can run , drive and stop

IMG_5441.jpeg

And I did my home work on buying factory seats …crazy money to go with them . This car came with some dumb arse crappy ones that are not factory , I think they are caddy ones … they will be biffed !!!

so I scored some Audi a5 leather electric and heated seats

that will do the job nicely and look the part

I am ordered a full set of tinted glass which will be here in about 8 weeks ….

next is a new hood !
freight is the killer !!! Ames has a great price on new ones but the freight is near a grand to get it to nz … so I am looking at opg and arranging my friends at kiwi shipping to send it to me

which hopefully will be cheaper !
that’s a work in progress :dancingpontiac:

mean while once the 68 moves and stops I can get into fitting the l98 into the 63 frame and work out a trans crossmember

get a drive shaft measured and ordered then strip it all down for sand blasting !!! A good test for the new compressor 😜

lets see, anyone got a 4.25 stroke crank ? hmmm might have to do some home work on a shopping list of engine parts

Kiwi...

Pontiac 400 CID. Engine =4.120 Bore × 3.750 stroke...

Pontiac 461 CID.  Engine = 4.150 Bore  (400 block bored .030 over)  with a 4.250 stroke Crankshaft...and a 6.735 Connecting Rod length...

With the right combination of parts....It can a real Beast...And definitely will Upset/scare Small children and Especially Greenies...

Justa for my own curiosity...Is that what you have in mind...??
