More plumbing. Brake and fuel lines. The pictures don’t show the time, tubing, and trips to the local NAPA for the correct fittings to get to this point, but I finally got to where I’m happy with the results.

My son-in-law helped me fill and bleed the brake system. After several hours of chasing leaks and finally replacing 2 lines we now seemingly have cured that issue (although I still keep pumping the pedal and checking for brake fluid 🤔).

Brakes, fuel, all your plumbing is extraordinary.  Beautiful job!  I want to take it for a ride, can't imagine how antsy you are. :dancingpontiac:

Thanks.  And yes, I am getting anxious.  Hopefully will have basic wiring and a gas tank soon so I can give it a drive to make sure things work as they should before tearing it all apart for paint.

Well done Tim, that plumbing looks perfect

Great Build “31”! Every T crossed every I dotted! I know there are many things left to do, but a paint job will not make your work more spectacular! Quite the opposite! As a beautiful paint job can cover a multitude of sin, but nothing I mean nothing can out shine beautiful craftsmanship & that you have done!
No doubt your paint job will be glorious as well!!

Thanks for the positive comments guys.  We are trying to keep that ‘60’s era hot rod feel and get one more old Pontiac out of the garage and out on the road.

After seeing the pic of that beautiful brake line work, I went out and looked inside my engine bay. Shabby, in comparison. This is the standard of work that we should all aspire to, although reality will rear it's ugly head and we'll just chuck something in to get us going.

Eventful weekend!   Son-in-law did some last minute temporary wiring, I installed the battery tray, battery, and a makeshift lawnmower gas tank.   Here’s the video of the  first drive !!

What? No burnout? 😁! Sweet! Take a bow Tim!

Well done. I think your son stopped the video a little too soon though. I missed the scene where you have this big ol' grin on your face that even a mortician could not remove.

Congrats on the first ride man! Tell us how you feel!

I found these 1964 Cadillac A/C vents at Carlisle this spring and created these housings (with much help from my brother) by hand to mount them under the dash.

They fit the ‘60’s period feel for the car better than a lot of the plastic aftermarket vents I looked at.

That tach is so cool. Doesn't look like it fits any of the holes in your original bezel though.  Vents are perfect!  Thankz for the update.

Thanks for the comments guys!  Justa, the tach is a Bosch made reproduction of a vintage style I got from Summit.  And you are right, it doesn’t fit in the dash. I modified the supplied mounting bracket to bolt to the bottom of the dash, no room to mount it on the tilt steering column.

I constructed a housing to mount the wiper switch on the header above the windshield.  The chrome bezel is a Bronco piece and the chrome arm is from a mid-‘60s Pontiac power antenna switch.

Also added an early ‘60s VW backup light and my brother fabricated 2 plates to cover the areas where the spare tire mount was bolted.

More time-consuming details completed. First I made my own column tilt and turn signal stalks from a small length of stainless rod and 2 old knobs I had found years ago.

Installed a pocket and cover plate for the dimmer switch.

Next 2 pictures show the tube I made to retain the battery cable crossing over the transmission to the starter. I flared the ends of a piece of copper water pipe and soldered steel brackets to it to mount it to the toeboard.

Last is the cover I made to protect the wires running under the carpet.

I received the new gas tank in February. Even though it it looks and measures the same as the original, it didn’t fit like the original. I had to modify the upper tank supports and relocate the filler neck hole in the tank cover.
