We now have a rolling chassis. IMG_9342.mov

  • I didn’t think the battery area would be so complex with battery cables, main power switch and vent tubes. The smaller wires are preliminary and will be cleaned up.     Battery cover was designed so

  • With the manifolds back on the engine, my brother and I spent 4 1/2 hours installing the rest of the exhaust system. It became a lot more challenging than either of us anticipated, but we finally got

All the glass is cut and all but the windshield is installed along with the chrome garnish moldings. Glass is the vintage green “E-Z EYE” tint to fit the ‘60s hot rod theme.

I also made mounts and covers for a motorcycle radio and dual USB charging ports.  It pretty much disappears between the seats.

Windshield gets fitted next as soon as the dash is removed (better access), and then it is finally time for disassembling the whole car , clean and paint everything, and reassemble it.  We’ll see how far I get before Norwalk!

I had the good fortune this past weekend of acquiring a pair of the rare (at least to me) early “Thompson” script finned aluminum Pontiac valve covers. They may just “find” their way onto a certain 428.   😉

I decided to add a separate oil cooler for the TH350.  It’s a stacked plate unit from a Mini and the stone guard is made from the lower valance grill of an AMG Mercedes.

Excellent work 31pontiac! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work.

The mere thought of cutting up an Mercedes AMG makes me snicker and point. Nice!

Nice job! Thankz for the update.  See your piece of hose on the water pump.  I have a couple sizes and use Block freeze plugs to plug the end and save a mess when draining or pulling engines.  Justa slide it on, with no pressure......no leak!

Quick update.  I used 3 coats of  ATAC (a heat and sound insulator) from DEI on the floors and firewall and 2 coats on the rest of the body to help keep the heat out.  Also bought some embossed aluminum to install above the exhaust to do the same.
Almost all of the fabrication is done and I am in the process of disassembling the whole car, bagging and tagging everything.

I was able to get a little more done between the holidays.  Embossed aluminum was cut and shaped for heat shields above the exhaust. With that completed,  everything was removed from the frame and then it was mounted onto a rotisserie for some additional welding then cleaning and prepping for paint.

Fingers crossed 🤞,  it should be a full size model car kit to assemble once everything is painted.
On the other hand,  we all know things don’t always go as planned 🤦🏼‍♂️.

A little more progress.  First pic is the frame with the initial coat of primer using Eastwood 2-part epoxy spray cans.

After a week of sanding it was time to break out my new inflatable spray booth for my brother to spray a couple of coats of 2K urethane primer.

More sanding coming up and then some color!🤞
