Another rainy day here in nz !!!

so I removed the loom from my ve/G8 ls2 motor

IMG_0598.jpeg

This will be heading to a specialist in Hamilton who will reduce it down to a basic 4 wire hook up .. he will be removing  all the corrugated coverings and replace them with braided black . Extend the loom for the computer, so I can mount it inside the car and upgrade the program in the factory comp to remove the vats . Along with a tune.

Huh? What? Where am I? All I can see are cows bopping along to some woman dressed as a cow eating a pie. Am I in the right place? Where are the Pontiacs? Why am I hungry all of a sudden?

Yes, as Russell said - good luck. If NZ was more Third World, you could take along a bottle of scotch to ahem 'help the process.' That way if it turns pear shaped, you can hoe into the scotch. Win win.

AH , mate, its JustA loom! nothing scarey about it at all.

You see what it looks like once the sparky has chopped all the crap off it down to a basic efi system... gotta remember i have already "been there done that " on the little ford.. it was my learning curve.

i am getting him to delete the maf sensor and replace it with a intake air temp sensor, and add a output signal for a cable drive box, so i can run the factory speedo off the electronic transmission, also adding out puts to temp oil and tell tail light for the alternator.

Oh and add another 400mm to the e throttle too, since i am sticking with left hand drive, remeber this came out of a right hook commy

Sounds scary to me!!! I'll be watching from a safe distance. :pop_corn:

Yep - sounds scarey to me too but you have experience with this, so off you go. I've said it before: nothing beats EFI and if you can retrofit it into an old car then it's gonna be worth the effort. So, what about the throttle linkage? Is the new engine designed with electronic throttle control? Do you adopt that or Frankenstein it into an analogue cable system?

The motor came with the commodore fly by wire pedal . I will modify it to take the Pontiac pedal plate … it is a very cool stainless steel trimmed thing with the word “power “ on it

Damn, I missed out on that one Chris. I'll have to track one down so that I know which pedal to push when I want to do a skid!

hahha,. i recon this 57 is gona be soo cool by the time i am done, and i really want to save any and all that is pontiac :dancingpontiac:

Power and Brake - love it. Just in case you're ever confused as you're sliding sideways down an icy road, you can glance down and be assured of what action you want to take.

Poor Russell doesn't have a Power pedal. I feel his pain as I went globetrotting to track down my stainless trims, which by the way are featured on every Pontiac on this forum. Mine must have been a special delete option...I doubt it - they probably rusted away.

Chris, thanks for that pic, it looks so cool. I will try and track something down, but at the moment there is nothing showing on ebay.

I have contacted a couple of specialists in the US, namely California Pontiac Restoration and Pontiac Heaven, so will see if they come back.

There is still rare stuff out there, as I managed to source a couple of years ago the cast chrome armrest base from Desert Valley Auto Parts (I think) as the Star Chief only had a drivers armrest. A couple have since come up on ebay as well.

Might also want to try Franks out in Cali Russell. Or justa go visit Kiwi, let him get all filled up on his famous pizza and some whiskey, then swap them. We can blame it on Fitzy. He'll never know the difference!

No I haven't seen this before. Mine was obviously swapped out in the US for a top hinged pedal when the LS was installed, as the original looks to be a bottom hinged one. I just got a reply back from Desert Valley Auto Parts, and they have one, but want US$125 for it, so by the time I convert to NZ$ and add freight I'm looking at probably NZ$250. I don't want one that much!

On another subject, I just found out that we know somebody famous on this forum, who got published in the latest NZ Hot Rod magazine. Perhaps we could get signed copies of this from him?Chris.thumb.png.33d6280a675b0fad16e9f5493a46e6d7.png

Oh, now that's justa awesome! Way to go Kiwi!!! I'll need 2 copies', signed please. 1 for me and 1 for my son, (or he'll steal mine like he does my damn Harley shirts).

I hope not - this is the Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo, Texas. No Pontiacs allowed!
