Thanks, mate. It's Issue 478, May. There's a white VC Valiant on the cover. My article is at the back just before the Car Club listings. It's now been superseded by the current issue, but your friendly local newsagent may have some old copies.

The Pontiac enamelled metal sign is a repro (made in China!) but they have done a great job on the rusty patina. I reckon I'll be waiting a while before the Taupo RCC sign starts to rust.

That's not an article...... that's a freakin spread.  Congrat's !   When can we expect our autographed copy in the mail?  Still Waitin on KiwiBonne's.   Sign is sweet as well. That Taupo sign looks like one I have.  Small world. :driving:

Thanks guys. I'm a bit chuffed about it. Just when we were all sick of looking at my car all of a sudden it's in a magazine. You know, I wrote the article and I remember asking the editor to not name specifically where I live - just call it far north Queensland, so what does he do - he names where I live and where the car resides. Great, now I gotta sleep with one ear listening to people trying to steal the car in the middle of the night. If they manage to start it, I'll certainly hear it - it's pretty loud.

I was reading something the other day and they had an article on the Melbourne (Australia) International Motor Show, looks like 1965 or 66. Anyway, apart from the legs on the chick backed up against the Corvette, I also saw a coupla Pontiac signs. There's also some Oriental babes next to a VF Valiant. The one in front must be a fan because she's wearing a dress that matches the Val's grille.

Imagine being there looking for a new car and you could only stretch to a Vauxhall when what you really wanted was the enormous Yanker dwarfing it.

I was told between $30 & 50k to paint the car. I'm about to buy a can of paint from the hardware store and some brushes.

Okay - I'm about to post 2 things. If you're easily offended then skip the next post. If Ringo removes them, I'll understand but we're all adults, right?

Clearly, I have nothing Pontiac related to post so I'm posting a coupla gags. Here goes nothing...

i cant see a lake?

do i need better glasses fitzy ?

Yep - you need beer goggles. You still won't see the lake but that's the point!

GP gets out on the road about once a fortnight these days. Still runs fine...still got crappy paint...

I officially gave notice at work the other day. My tentative LAST DAY of fulltime work will be August 1. I say tentative because I offered them 24 hours a week if they need me. 24 hours is 2 days up there: more than enough to live on for me. At least then I can chuck some gas in the GP and take it out more often. I'll let you know what happens.

Beer googles!? Why didn't I think of that? Although I'm not sure it would help me find this mysterious lake you keeping talking about.

Fitzy best of luck with your change from full time to part time. My time is coming pretty soon too.

I couldn't afford a swim in that lake..

I have more pictures of pnuematic breasts to post but I'm not gonna push it, so instead here are some shots I took from the pages of the PCAA (Pontiac Car Club Of Australia) magazine. As a requirement of my 'restricted use' club vehicle registration, I am a member of this club. Anyway, the 2023 'Pontiac Nationals' were held at a town called Young in New South Wales. I thought I'd post these to show our international audience just how seriously we take our Pontiacs down under. As you can see, Ye Olde Poncho is alive and well here.

Took the GP for a run to our sort of local Ford museum. Yeah, I know right? If I'm not extolling the virtues of driving a Prius in New Zealand then I'm showing you pics of Fords. I probably should be banished from the tribe.

Yes JustA, it got a few looks. To be honest I was poking about looking at the cars and could have missed the endless crowds of worshippers kneeling before the car, drinking in it's good looks and flamboyant flanks. You know, I waxed the paint the prior weekend and when I was walking toward it, it looked pretty damn good despite it's weatherbeaten finish when you're up close.

All the money I had saved up for it's paint? I bought shares with it! Not such a tragic after all.

I hate breaking promises and I did pledge to all that I would do it, but it's well used character has me by the goolies. Tragically committed to crappy paint.
