Just buy a Prius and paint it purple. Honestly, do I have to do all the thinking around here?

Kevlar vest on? Check.

Riot helmet? Check.

Sitting inside Sherman tank waiting for replies? Check.

Okay, we're good to go. You may start responding.

Funds came in yesterday. Still waiting on the proof of insurance / insurance underwriting before I can get it. At this point, it will probably be Monday before I can get it. My salesman/son is off starting tomorrow for a 4-day weekend to the U.P. of Michigan to go camping with his girlfriend's family and friends. So yeah, Monday at the earliest now.

Well it looks like I won’t be picking up the Challenger now until  mid-to-late week. My insurance company just asked for some more damn information. I sent a polite yet curt response that they should have sent this request in the beginning and it was now been a full week to get some thing as simple as proof of insurance for an established customer. :picard:

I get an automated response that this guy is out of the office on Monday for a wake. So that means even if I had jumped through my ass to get him the information he needed yesterday, it would not have mattered anyway because he won’t process it until Tuesday at the earliest.

Can you tell I’m ticked?

I would be looking elsewhere for a better insurance company !

Normally that would be my reaction too. However, they are one of the cheapest collector car insurance companies in the country. So $600 for a full year of insurance is a good deal. If I go somewhere else, I know I will pay more for the same coverage. I hesitate to think what it might cost for daily driver insurance on a normal policy.

i emailed them the information they requested last night, knowing nothing is going to happen until at least Tuesday. So yeah Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest now.

I’m already spending money on a car I don’t own yet. I just ordered a Hurst pistol grip replacement shifter knob from Holley. It is not a complete shifter replacement, just the knob. I want to get use to the Tremec as it is before I go replacing the entire shifter. However, a manual shift Challenger demands a Hurst pistol grip!

Should I wood grain it or leave it alone since most of the interior is black or charcoal?

i think it looks cool as is.

Leave it if there is no or little wood grain.

If it’s aluminum, polish it! Being black might be harder to see in the dark! Just sayin! :slap:

Still waiting on the damn proof of insurance. I called the insurance company twice yesterday. The first time. the guy I've been dealing with was out to lunch and never returned my call. The second call I got a helpful woman. They needed even more information since I sent them my daily driver info! WTF?

They need my wife's information because they noticed my wife's name on the normal policy, so they now have to add her to my classic car policy. I asked why since she's not on the classic car policy today. "They have to....." was the answer. I challenged them on that since she doesn't drive them now and certainly won't drive this car because it's a stick. Ugh.

I sent them the wife's information last night but I am going to do some serious bitching about this entire process once it's done.

With any luck I may (I stress "may") have the form today. We shall see.

This is not a classic.  Should have to be on your normal INS.  with your other DD's.   Played the INS game earlier as well.  GTO is golden, covered by classic INS for a full year.  Sunbird has always been covered with my DD INS as it was easier to put on and put back into storage every year to save my JUSTA plates.  Now tried to put the Bird on with the GTO in classic and they said no it has to be on it's own in modified.  WRONG answer as they were asking over double the $$ in modified. Complained back that I asked for a quote price. Was given the quote, accepted the quote, send the $$ and after conformation of INS with them, called AAA back and removed the Bird from them.  Now I'm being messed around with alot more $$.  I would never have changed and will go back and expect a full refund from you.   They put the Bird in classic with the GTO at the quote price.  So as of now, both cars are INS with the same company for a full year, waaay less than the cost of 6 months for 1 car.  I'm happy.  The car would have to be a 1980 to be considered a CLASSIC, or even offer INS through that company.  So that's why I'm wondering about your INS on a new but used car.

Grundy is willing to consider modern muscle cars like Vettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers as collector cars so long as you stay within their restrictions. I've also heard that you have a total combined value of $100k of total vehicles, classica and DDs, that you can cover everything for a much lower price than normal insurance.

BTW - the proof of insurance just showed up this morning and I just printed it out. I'm reaching out to my son as to when we can wrap up the paperwork.

BTW 2 - the new Hurst pistol grip shifter handle for the Challenger arrived yesterday afternoon.

What a drama frosty !!!

last car I bought was the bosses mini

I stood at the car sharks , rang my insurance broker and instantly I was covered , he produce a cover note number  that I gave to the car shark

and drove off with the red car ! Easy peasy !
cant wait for you to get your car !!! Like Joe said !!!! We are hanging out for ya !!!!
