Just to clarify, while I did say zinc! To be more clear, NGK iridium plugs, which are made in Japan, sounds really great! THEY ARE NOT IRIDIUM! Iridium is $4,625 a troy ounce! They are trivalent chromate coated! Which is better than zinc for some applications, but not a spark plug for a gas engine! Why? As I stated earlier when you add a combustion gas byproduct, sulfuric acid, it slowly causes a galvanic action with other susceptible metals, aluminum being one. Decades of use have proven over a very long period of time that a steel/nickel alloy has one of the least galvanic reactive occurrences, but an antiseize application is always a good choice! Especially in aluminum.

In my opinion it is a way of forcing new technology on the general public that they do not want or really need. All of this is a result of "global warming" which I for one do not accept. If you go bac

Kiwi, who the heck knows why you can do something a million times & never have a hiccup! To be honest, I don't use antiseize! Never have! Nobody I know uses it not even dealerships. They don't come from the factory that way! Granted all the engines I've owned are cast steel/iron, but still can be subject to galvanic action. Your particular situation could have been nothing more that a factory defect of a weak or compromised threaded sleeve! You do enough of this type of work to know exactly what I mean. So while antiseize & galvanic action & whatever other voodoo crap the world throws at us we know how to deal with it whatever it is! Think about the poor dumb bastard that scratches his head when you say spark plug!!rofl

I had a very sad start to my day, a good mate past away last night he was only 64 and i think i am still in shock.

He was a plumber like me, self employed and one hell of a nice guy.

He built a mean 57 Chevy wagon and was also in our club, so we are in for a very sad funeral .........which i completely hate !!!

He had a heart condition and was waiting surgery , but went into hospital last night with stomach pains and dropped dead while they where doing tests! ruptured bowl they are saying ... ffs!

i do not like this dieing thing i do not, death is not me and it will never be my freind to any end, that said, i will stand down off my soap box and have a beer to cheer my mate i have lost, BUT

never forgotten cheers

I feel ya Brother, one of the reasons I decided to retire at 62 years old is the last 2 years I have lost friends, coworkers, and relatives all a few year younger than me. All you can do is stay grounded, help the Family where you can, and raise a Beer to their Memories.cheers

Kiwi,

So very sorry for your loss. Please make sure that '57 wagon is part of the funeral and grieving process for you, his family and acquaintances. If the wagon is at the funeral, your friend will be too, somewhere close by.

Certainly is going to be Rick🙏

I talk to our club president last night and the plan is to have the 57 there 👍

It’s an unknown when the funeral will be yet as his wife has insisted on a full autopsy !!! She’s claiming the doctors killed him !!!!

Very very sad & sorry for your loss Chris! Death is a hard thing! Never having experienced it, it is truly the great unknown!

But I believe in what scripture says! & we will all see our friends & love ones again! Just as we knew them. Yet somehow that doesn’t always make it easier. The pain is real, the loss still hurts!

Take comfort in those around you & those you love! & all your friends here my friend!
