My 08 dodge Challenger / Superbird

Yeah, I put on a few pounds dang it!! LOL I knew you had seen the pics earlier on FB.

Well, this is the way things went this weekend with all the events

After tech inspection on friday there was a tour of Ray Everham's garage which was very cool indeed. Lots of beauties running around that place. And they had BBQ and stuff like that there for us.

And the best part was I took my brother which is a ford guy and he fell in love with an old dodge power wagon. Been giving him hell and reminding him that he is finally seeing the light and

coming to the dark side. See I was using my jedi powers at the right time again to change his ways  :lol2:

The speed stop - Was the first event for me.  I blew thru the cones once or twice coming in too hot and I flat spotted the tires and other times purty good.

And glad the autocross was next to help round out the tires again.

Autocross - The car was too tight so I made some adjustments and loosened it up some which made for better times and needed to loosen it up more,

But, the heat was cooking me being out in it all day with all the heat from all the cars. And it made the surface slick. And you know I had to smoke the tires

and get that sucker sideways a few times lol !!  So, I cut that event short to cool down.

There was this sort of road rally at the end of the 1st day which we drove to Detroit Speeds shop and had BBQ and ice cream.

The road course - It was yet another hot day so, I opted for a garage stall No.12 beside my buddy with his 69 yeller road runner to stay out of the sun all day like saturday.

Well, i get out on the track and realize that the front of the car is pushing and my seat is adjusted incorrect (accidentally hit the button while strapping in doh!!) So, I made a few

adjustments to the front and on the next run it was still pushing hard on the front. So, after getting back into the pits I corrected that by more adjustments and went to make

yet another run. We as you guessed it now the rear was loose now. And all the while on all runs I had to deal with boost from the supercharger that was kicking in and

trying to pull the rear around. So, there was alot of pedalling going on. Cause the boost ramped up so fast which made it real hard to slow down for the corners. And getting side

ways on a big bank kind of makes you get out of the throttle slightly. So, after tweaking the rear it was handling great with the one exception I had forgotten to disable the traction

control which when I got into a corner I had to get out of the throttle and back on it fast to trick it which actually cost me speed in the corners well coming out of the corners that is.

There were alot of fast race cars out there that were fighting for points and I wasn't being scored for points. So, I would pull to one side and let them go. Although, I did have this

one idiot in a mustang cut me off in a corner and I had to blow thru some cones to avoid him hitting me. They black flagged me and not him cause I took the safe way out

to keep from having an accident. We kind of had some words after he came in and I had some words with officials as well.  Oh and the best part is you had robbie gordon

with is traxxis trucks running for kicks and giggles kicking up rocks and debri on the track making for a more dangerous situation for some guys who cut tires and went off the

track do to the debri. And the best part under yellow they were blowing by every one and a accident area with out even slowing down at all. Freaking jerks. They got the boot

from the track!! Anyhoo, After I got the car dialed in and everything hooking up right and adjusted the way it needed to be it was all over. It was a blast and enjoyed every minute

of it. Granted after I ran 250 miles on the big track and 20 gals of racing fuel and the heat from the days event I was tired. The best part was I had a friend that came to watch

with his girls and they had fun playing around and in the car between the events which was a blast.

The fun part was driving home and trying to keep in my head that I'm off the track cause everyone was moving so, slow compared to what I was doing earlier.

cool stuff!

So what's up with being in Exhibition Class vs. one of the other classes? Is it a requirement to be in EC before moving into one of the other classes?

I talked to GE last night for about 30 minutes. Seems the reason for being in Exhibition Class is because of the height of the rear wing. Seems there are rules about how high rear spoilers can be for each class, and the Daytona spoiler exceeds all of the other class limits.

That's really interesting. Is that the ricer limit?

Ringo - I'm the one standing up lol !!

Frosty - The cars are supposed to be stock in appearance somewhat and you can't have a spoiler over 6- 8 inches tall from stock location. Since I have this huge wang which is 4.5 inches over the roof line

and not deck lid it kind of kicks me out fo GT, GTS  etc.. classes. Which throws me into EC class. Yup I get no points although, I did score 1st in my class, I do not get design points. I don't get any awards or plaques.

Didn't get a mention during awards time. All I got was run time and fun time and sweated my ass off competing. But, I enjoyed the hell out of it and would do it again.  Okay, you already know I push the car to the edge

driving it like I stole it anyway. And just being able to push it more to that fine edge is fun. How many people actually push their daily driver to that edge on a track. You might have those idiots that do it on the street but, that

is dangerous and foolish and most of them drive imports lol !!  At least I can say that the car is very well maintained and I try to keep it in top performance.

But, the best part about competing at charlotte was. There was a Challenger SuperBird racing around the track. Now, how freaking cool is that!!  And how many years has it been that you even had a stock superbird

competing. A long time !! So why the heck not run it  :bacon:

The USCA will recognize four classes of vehicles within USCA sanctioned

events and reserves the right to weigh any vehicle at any time during the event or event

activities. Weights are “as presented†without driver.

a. GT – 1990 and newer 3200 pound minimum weight 2WD sedans, 4 seater

coupes and late model trucks (example – 5th Gen Camaro, BMW M3/M5, late

model Mustang)

b. GTS (Sports car) – 1990 and newer 3200 pound minimum weight factory

production two-seater autos and any all wheel drive vehicles (example –

C5/C6/C7 Corvette, Mitsubishi Evo, Nissan GTR)

c. GTV (Vintage) – 1989 and older 3200 pound minimum weight rear wheel drive

(example – 1967 Mustang, 1987 Monte Carlo, 1974 Pontiac Firebird)

d. GTL (Lights) – ALL VEHICLES UNDER 3200 POUNDS

The USCA reserves the right to place certain drivers or vehicles into an “exhibition classâ€.

Exhibition class participants do not qualify for any points and/or awards for any segment of the

event or the overall win. The exhibition class is intended to allow prearranged special guests,

celebrities or key sponsors the ability to bring out cars or drivers that may promote the

series. These drivers or cars must meet or exceed all safety specifications but may or may not

meet all of the criteria that define the eligibility for the series. The exhibition class is not a class

for event participants to enter with an ineligible driver or car in order to get track time.

From time to time at the sole discretion of the event organizers, some event participants may be

moved to the exhibition class on the event day if it is determined that an honest mistake has

been made as to the eligibility (other than safety) of a driver or car in a specific class. With

regard to tires, at no time will racing only, track only, “R†compound or slicks be considered as

an exception for regular event participants to run in the exhibition class.

5. AERO – participant vehicles are allowed to have any factory installed aero packages

available on their specific vehicle platform. In other words, if it came from the production

factory that way, regardless of size, it’s legal. If it looks suspect, be prepared to show

proof of factory installation. No modification of existing factory aero is allowed if it

already exceeds published guidelines.

a. GT class – any spoiler or wing configuration with a maximum of 6â€

tall from it’s highest mounting point or a maximum height of 4†above the lowest

point of the rear window, whichever is less. The maximum width of the

spoiler/wing must be no wider than the original panels of the car and must not

extend more than 6 inches past the furthest point of the rear of the car. No wing

may exceed 8 inches in length (front to back) at any point.

b. GTS class - any spoiler or wing configuration with a maximum of

6†tall from it’s highest mounting point or a maximum height of 4†above the

lowest point of the rear window, whichever is less. The maximum width of the

now with all that rule crap out of the way hehe!! Yes, I was over the 3200lb limit being 4100lbs.Yes, I could have shed the weight off the car and got it down. But, I had limited time and no assistance to shed weight so, the rear seats stayed in the car along with all the other crap to weigh it down. Now, since I have the time and not rushed to get the car

ready for an event I can shed all the weight. But, granted if I race any land speed events that 4100lbs helps. So, what I need to do is configure a setup so that I can run both road courses and land speed events with simple ballast add ons that can be removed if needed when needed and not sacrifice ride and handling. I have gotten up with Detroit Speed and we've been talking about a similar setup for both style events. And I'll let you know how that goes in the up coming weeks when it all gets started.

Oh that's just wrong Ringo :lol2: ya put me in a ricer guage dang it  :lol2:

Actually I talked with optima guy and he told me that they were getting some cars that were wild looking cars that didn't meet race rules that were let in the events like

tires etc.. I asked him then why did they pass tech and he wasn't sure and he said mine exceeded the rules for safety which they liked. Granted for the longest time ONLY

cars that were displayed at SEMA were the only ones that could compete and within the last few years they have opened it up due to the wild cars at sema not meeting

specs or rules. I told him as long as they kept a good tough tech inspection it would be a safe event.

I don't think a 4.5 inch wang is considered huge, even in the world of automotive porn GE !!!

....and the line about "its not how big it is, its how you use it" doesn't seem to appropriate either !!!   :lol2:  :lol2:

Well ... 4.5" is a pretty huge one for a ricer.

Dang ya'll just wrong picking on poor little GE   That's okay I had fun  :driving:

Well, as I go through checking on stuff on the car. I found that I had melted the pre stage 1 and 2 oxygen sensors on the car during this racing at charlotte. So, I had a lean fuel

mixture which I haven't seen any damage to top of pistons with the scope or valves. I was running unleaded 114 racing fuel at that. I'll probably pull the motor to un-zip it to check

it all out in the next week to make sure of no issues. But, no problems with motor she runs strong and fine no noises so, it's probably fine. But just gotta check to be sure. Besides

it makes time to drop the other one in to get it ready for the next racing fun.

You melted the O2 sensors ...

Now I have to know .... what's the melting point of an O2 sensor? Pics?

You do use tools instead of chop sticks to work on it right?  Ignore the Ricer BS.   :lol2:   The name plate EARNED it's WINGS before Honda even thought about adding two more wheels to a motorcycle. :lol2:

We pick on you for three reasons GE;

1. You deserve it.

2. You do stupid things from time to time......see point 1 above.

3. It's considered sport

Actually Ringo, the same company that makes the Daytona kit for GE's Challenger also made a sweet looking '69 Trans Am tribute for the 5th gen Camaro. Does this give you any ideas?
