  • The olds 442!in the background with the 22 inch Rims, has a hellcat engine and a hellcat interior in it now courtesy of this shop. And it looks like it came from the factory that way.

  • This brought back memories. My mate turned up at my place (drunk) and so, of course we had some more. Then it was time to go somewhere but he was too wasted to drive, so it was deemed more responsible

Try it for breakfast. Grab a can of maple flavor....Damn it's good. Food staple at DeerCamp with hashbrowns.

sorry JustA but am i reading that right ????? are you in for a minus 31 centigrade weekend ?????

Copy that! We had it colder than that before!

That's because you have a furnace in your garage, wise acre! Some of us can only afford the smell of propane from a salamander!

Yes Kiwi, we are experiencing a massive polar plunge which some forecasters don't expect to lift for us in the midwest until early February! Ugh. It is even reaching Ringo down in Floridays with near freezing temperatures. Heck the geckos are falling out of the trees down there! The only consolation I can think of is that the folks in Minnesnowota and the upper plains states are even colder! We get some partial warming from the Great Lakes but we also get lake-effect snow too.

Here in Michigan we are expecting over night lows on Friday and Saturday to drop to about -21C (-5F) with wind chills approaching -32C (-25F). What is also annoying is the higher winds and the fact that the Great Lakes are not frozen over yet means the lake effect machine cranks up and drops snow on us from time to time, even on days snow is not really forecasted. Lake effect is worse for folks that live either east or south of the Great Lakes because those areas get massive amounts of lake effect snow. We are very sick and tired of the white stuff, shoveling, snowblowing, salting, slipping and sliding, engaging four wheel drive, and watching out for careless drivers in this weather. Any sustained period above 0 C will be greatly appreciated. I am more than ready for a serious thaw.

i so cant imagine it being that cold !! and i have been to new york 5 times !!!

This explains why you lock your babys away for the winter , that is something i find hard to comprehend.

we are having one of our wettest summers and still it doesnt get under 11c at night

sadly we have had a lot of rain and it looks like a land slide at mt maunganui has taken some young lives.... its a ongoing latest news thing...

i hate hearing about people lossing their lives. especally young people.

Global warming? No let up for the next month or so. This should be in the weather thread. Not much funny about this, until ya get someone to lick a metal post.

Some will have snow next week and we'll be freezing temps as a low. Our houses were not built for this! willy_nilly

welcomeHello! That’s me! I live both south & east of the Great Lakes! & the further east you go the worse it gets. At least to you get past Buffalo. Where I grew up in Ashtabula 3 feet of snow in a day was not unusual. I remember one year we had right around 5 feet of standing snow in the yard. Now living 40 miles further west we get much less. But the crazy thing is this! Cleveland sits at the lowest point, the valley if you will of Lake Erie. So the east side vs the west side of Cleveland & all the surrounding areas are two different worlds for snow. Most winters the west side gets very little snow, maybe an inch. Where the east side gets buried in 1, 2, even 3 feet of snow.

No! Dead serious! Winter of 1985 was one if not the worst. 100 mile an hour winds -53 wind chill with a 6 day sustained temperature that never got above -20 + lots of snow. Ringo do you have an extra room? I think I’m coming your way for awhile.lol

Not to be a smart arse, but I can beat that! Mine sits at a very comfortable 76! Of course that’s a little miss leading as the temperature gage sits next to the electric furnace in the garage. So the actual is more like 71, 72. But still quite nice.

Lets see what happens.....

So my gauge lights have always sucked. couldn't see them in the day and weak at night.

new bulbs, cleaned housings etc.. nothing worked.

so i painted the blue gauge pods to a sem white. installed LED's and i think i will be happy!

they do not dim as promised.tech line said use an old 198 bulb that should work. however why would i want 2 bright bulbs and one dim bulb? yea i'm not doing that.

I painted the rear tail light housings with the sem white and they POP really well.almost look like LED"S but are just regular 1157 1156 bulbs.

In case anyone cares, the reason the gauges back panel Is painted blue is due to the 198 incandescent bulbs have a natural yellow tint. The blue helps counteract the yellow to make the light more white.

Now fast forward 50 plus years, LEDS were created with much truer color, and LCD/digital displays have all but eliminated the need for analog gauges and incandescent bulbs all together.

Facts like this really fascinate me. It makes sense hearing it but at the same time “what made them think to do that at the time.” Thanks for sharing, Frosty!

The simple answer is experimentation. As most of you know, I started my career atAC Spark Plug Division of GM. During the sixties and seventies, AC made virtually every cluster and gauge for GM cars. My father worked there too.He was an electrical engineer. He has six patents to his name. At the end of his career, he worked in instrument displays. I learned a lot from him and working in instruments myself.

If you look at a simple color wheel, opposite colors are complimentary. However Violet is yellow’s compliment, not blue. Blue is close to violet so it will absorb some of the yellow make the light more white.
