Now the driver side headers have been my last four day adventure. So I will ask my friends here what should I do here? dent the $1200 header or cut a piece off the frame where the A arm mounts I also am gonna have to trim the motor mount that is paper thin to contacting the #1 header tube…

Anyone who wants to put Edelbrock aluminum Heads on there Pontiac keep in mind they’re about an inch wider which moves everything. My iron headed deports fit perfect the way this project is snowballed. I would’ve much rather stayed with Ironheads. But that ship has sailed. Frosty I got your text and I am keeping a daily visit to motor trend. I want to race this car on Woodward for roadkill nights. You and Justa  will be my pit crew. Lol

  • The olds 442!in the background with the 22 inch Rims, has a hellcat engine and a hellcat interior in it now courtesy of this shop. And it looks like it came from the factory that way.

  • This brought back memories. My mate turned up at my place (drunk) and so, of course we had some more. Then it was time to go somewhere but he was too wasted to drive, so it was deemed more responsible

Had a girl friend when I was young that used her boobs to flash flash flash … isn’t that the same thing ?

Dent the pretty headers to fit. I watched an episode of Engine Masters. Denting up headers does not impede exhaust flow or reduce horsepower.

It might also be a tad cathartic at this point too!

bring it on!:bowdown:i want to be there for it too Indyman !

but!

do it with heat ! that way you can make a neat job of it

I agree with Kiwi - bring the fire or at least heat to dent the headers.

A rose bud tip on an acetylene torch and a BFH (big frickin' hammer) would be ideal.

Its happening now! this chit is getting old. But like my buddy keeps telling me "you changed alot of stuff" this is gonna be a test of your patience for sure. He's not kidding i have missed 3 shows i never miss. not to mention the cruising with Michelle. Even the grandkids are asking when its gonna be done LOL Pics to follow later to show my frustrations getting hammered out!

So tbfh to the rescue. I used a product I use at work for refrigeration to keep heat off things you don’t wanna incinerate called Thermo trap. It does a great job at absorbing heat so I didn’t have to destroy the header. Torch got it nice and hot. Bunch of smacks with the hammers. Put it back in. Took it back out. Put it back in took it back out. Looks like this is gonna work just fine.

1/2 inch looks good I don’t think the motor lifts that much

well as usual the video didnt post but it wasnt that impressive anyways. Today i spent the whole day welding up the old exhaust to the new headers etc... justa has to get me to the muffler shop anyways. the only leak i had was an oil leak by the oil filter.....guess i never tightened the oil filter LOL so much for my checklist. seriously cant believe i didnt have that on the punch list..glad i found it none the less..

got the exhaust system all welded in yesterday and took the night off. And the saga never ends..Had the family over for a BBQ today, car time sucked away LOL. when they all left me and my neighbor went for a 4 house tour...meaning 4 houses away i was wtf is that sound? drive shaft safety loop rubbing on the driveshaft. soooo thats my AM job now. Scratched the paint but glad i heard it in time. If it was easy women and children would do this stuff.

I have to ask Joe, how many new cuss words did you invent along the way? I hope the grandkids didn’t hear you!

No new words, justa the same old power words! 1 small drip today off the radiator upper hose tightening it seemed to stop it. Put about 15 miles on her today. really impressed with these flexible trans lines I found. no leaks at all.

So we can see in some of these pictures the engine motor mount shims put my air filter lid right to the hood. didn’t notice any issues but that’s not how I wanted. It pulled the shims out last night which was a lot of fun with the engine in the car. You can see the bolts with a whole bunch of weird, angled extensions, etc. I was able to get all six back in and nice and tight, steel clear everything. Glad I didn’t reset the pinion angle yet I may still have to go with a smaller thinner carburetor gasket for a little extra insurance, but I’m happy with the way it is as of now.

oh that thin line on the oil pan is where the draglink just barely barely touched the oil pan. always made me nervous thinking it would really rub on a long trip and well we know what that eventually means....tow truck time! Pics kinda suck but i have about a 1/4 inch of clearance now from what had. Frosty you can have the cherry picker back now LOL i hope im done. (i am thinking of a bigger cam now so maybe not..) LOL

  • Popular Post

Greeeeeaaaaaaat! Now I have to find room in the garage mahal for the cherry picker. This should be fun.

joe. thats not a lot of space when you motor twists and your drag link moves up and down on hard lock to lock
