I hate my Introduction to Business teacher. She gave me a 0 on my assignment because we had to write notes down from a Super Bowl ad so we could type up a summery of what happened. I didn't do the notes because she can't understand how I'm able to just f*cking remember it in my head without the need for "notes". I'm sorry for watching the Super Bowl like every other f*cking person in America instead of taking small notes about the commercials. I wrote up about the Chevy Silverado commercial perfectly but she wouldn't take it. What a bitch.

Our wonderful education system triumphs again.

But speaking of assholes, management. Fawk them. Seriously.

Not about my job, but my dad. He doesn't exactly work for some some small corporation either, he works at Con Edison's headquarters, in Manhattan. He's been a Data Processor since his late 20's. Managing computer networks and databases and disaster recovery is his specialty. He's extremely intelligent and well trained in his field. But this past week, I noticed my pops was home all week. I asked him he other night if he took vacation, but he was on suspension. (wat?) When my grandpa passed away in December, my dad took three days off. IIRC, it's a federal law or something of the sort, you're allowed three days grievance for a death in the family. My dad was informed he could have three days. Now, Con Ed has a bunch of chains in management, and it's not common for miscommunication. My pops was told three days, the company apparently said "two". Wait, wat?

Well, as he tells me, his superiors tried to back him into a corner, and tried to say he was "doing the company over" for taking an "unauthorized" day off. My dad's responsibilties within his branch are immense, he makes +$100,000 a year. Why would he jeopardize everything for just a day? His letter of repremandal made it seem like his "unauthorized" day off was planned out and theft of time. As if he planned it out in spite of the company. Yeah, he's been there for 12 years and he's been busting his ass for the company, even doing 2-3am emergency calls when the networks fail, or databases fail.

It's sickening, considering how high end the skilled labor is, and the needed education to even fathom getting a position there. It's sickening to see the same technique pulled on my father, a man of 52 years of age, have the same bullshit pulled on him that got me booted from Sears last year. My pops is the hardest working and most honest man I know...it just sickens me to see some scumbags try and make a day off BECAUSE OF A DEATH IN THE FAMILY seem like he's out to hurt the company. Fawk you, Con Ed.

wow. Sucks

That's horrible. Death in the family is a HUGE issue, if something happens where loss of wage encurs because of this I would look for some legal action because that's just plain stupid. I would probably leave the company if they made a big deal like that out of something that I SHOULD be entitiled to grieve over my lost love one.

My pops is refining his resumè while on "suspension". This was the last straw for the stupid shit management pulls in his department.

My pops would sue, but these guys have $$$ they'd crush his case with high dollar lawyers. :(

Wow, got an email today from my university stating there is a hold on my account due to I am paying my "graduate school" tuition out of pocket and not using loans thus I have to talk to my adviser about it. Really? I am pretty sure being able to pay out of pocket for my 1 class a semester which never comes anything close to $200 because of my scholarships is a good thing and racking up interest on that is just plain stupid. Plus I've been doing this now for 2 years since I've gotten my job, way to be on top of things.

I wonder sometimes about things like this, what the hell are they going to say that I have to take time out of my day to go talk to them. "You're paying loans out of pocket" Yeah I think I know that.

Stupid policies, I am 22 years old I think I can make intellectual decisions, if not I'll ask someone who actually is knowledgeable, not these bafoons who are people paid to council me who don't know anything about what I'm doing.

Banks assume everyone needs a loan for school. Another reason why I'm not FORDing around with college. I'd rather invest in a house or car for the ridiculous tuition amounts these idiots are asking for.

Also, my job is REALLY pissed me off so far. Which, I should add, I'm in a different shop. Same company, new location.

First off, a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata rolls in. 7800 miles on the clock. Six speed manual, which I thought was nifty. Just a simple oil change, and tire rotation, right? lolno

The car wasn't even up in the air for 15 minutes, my boss Mike, complained twice that I wasn't fast enough. Yeah, like I care.

Job done right > speed

Second, I pop off the small panel on the underside for the drain plug. First red flag, caked up oil on the underside. Fresh oil all along the right side of the oil pan. I let Mike know, but what does he say, you ask?

"Don't worry about it, it's not a major leak,"

Wait, what? Are you FORDing kidding me? A new car with less than 8,000 miles with ANY goddamned leak is a problem. I speak my mind about it, and I'm promptly yelled act. Yeah, I'm a FORDing scumbag for finding an obvious defect on a NEW car, and advising that changing the oil is a bad idea. NOPE. Gotta make that $35.99, right asshole? I did not sign off on the job, nor did I put my name on the paperwork. FORD that noise.

Another car, a 2007 Toyota Sienna comes in, had a tire mounted Saturday, but shakes at 65mph. Badly.

Alright, test drive it, notice the bad shake. No problem, it's coming from the rear. Bring it in the shop, pop it up in the air, and start with the left rear tire. Right off the bat, I notice on the balancer, a hop in the tire. (picture if you will, the tire is not round, looks like a lump in the tread at high speed. This is a sign of the steel radial belts inside the tire ripping apart and failing. This can cause the tire to shred apart if neglected long enough.) I let Mike know, and right away, he starts with bullshit.

"That's a brand new tire, it doesn't have a belt shift,"

"Yes is does Mike, there's a nasty hop in the tire, come look at it, it's defective,"

"No, balance it out and get it out,"

What sort of bullshit is this? This is shady mechanic tactics, and I don't FORDing like it. I argue with the guy, but he's so stubborn, so sure that I'm wrong, even when the service manager realizes I'm right.

I didn't realize profit and speedy work trumped honesty and doing things the proper and professional way. What a fool I must be. :sarcasm:

If it's any consolation, my tax return came in, and now there's $1300 in my account.

still waiting on my federal. damn feds taking their sweet time to give me the money. did this bullshit on the 2nd of feb.
