I am SO happy (ecstatic) to report that the GP did it's run without a single falter. Turns out Kiwi was right - she purred like a kitten. Car generates interest, short conversations, admiring looks, thumbs up and complimentary comments whenever I take it out. As a consequence of it's drama free run there are no pics. Soz.

BUT - there are beers.

Now, in a Corolla that'd never happen. Mind you, yesterday a young woman walked past my car and said "beautiful car." I attempted to slick back my hair and woo her but she knew better and increased her walking pace. I couldn't imagine her (or anyone) casting an admiring look toward a Corolla.

Fitting universal fender trim to a Pontiac wheelarch is NOT a job I recommend if you want to have a fun day. I did my very best and carefully measured & cut everything but I could have done better. I'm going to procure some silver coloured aluminium putty and fill the gaps. It was an awful job with all those twists & turns. From a distance it looks shit hot. Get a bit closer...well, it's all right. Nobody but me will be looking at it. I was in two minds about even sharing these pics but no point being dishonest - there it is.

At the very least, from a short distance the car now looks complete minus the skirts and with it's spanky new trim.

On a positive note, took her for a short spin. Fired up instantly (and I mean INSTANTLY) and is running smooth as silk. I think yesterday's run really did it some good. I do love a balanced motor. I don't need to say this but if you're doing a rebuild, a full balance is well worth the extra expense.

Looks very good to me!!

And to Kiwi - how DARE you! I'll have you know that the long locks of hair cascading down my back, shoulders, nose & ears can be slicked back for a pretty girl at any time. Unfortunately, all the pretty girls seem to become first class sprint champions as I turn on the charm.

The boss is for ever on at me about the blond fly legs hanging out of my nose !!!!

I told her they don’t worry me one bit !!!

I simply never look in the mirror 👍👍job done !!!

OMG it's all coming true. The prophecy is being fulfilled. And don't get me started on eyebrow hairs. How is it that one day your eyebrows are looking reasonable and when you arise the next morning, a 6" strand has magically sprouted and is threatening to obscure your eye. It's great getting old,

Oh - the GP. Took it for a run and it was sweet. Spent the afternoon cutting, polishing & waxing some obscure areas that never get attended to.

Back to work tomorrow.

That's because their parents have warned them about strange men approaching them in cars and trying to gain their attention 😆

So are you saying I am going to turn into my dad when I grow up? Or some weirdo that frightens women and small children with a too loud exhaust system? Or both?

Mind you - I've already told my wife that unlike our son, I refuse to grow up OR move out! 

Took GP out for a couple of runs. Uneventful. Runs perfectly and made it home each time in perfect order. Bore - ing.

I'm hesitant to do this but am going to enter my bucket of bolts in the POTM this month. So sick of looking at Kiwi's rusty relics adorning the site's home page every day.

If you'd like to chuck me a vote, I'll get the beers when we come over for a visit. That's democracy in action.

Disclaimer: "free beer" does not mean beer will be free until 5am when we are thrown into the gutter. You will be entitled to "several" free beers whereupon you agree to get Kiwi & myself to a lobster shack and then to Tony's for a heart attack breakfast.

Well, I'm back. I imposed a month long hiatus from FP upon myself. It's too easy to get sucked into the social media vortex so every now & again I withdraw to reset. I'll do a catch up read later this arvo. Managed to do some nerve damage to my right leg (not sure how) and can't walk properly - off to see Dr Quack today and will probably undergo an MRI to see what's going on. No work for the forseeable future so I guess I'll be driving the GP around trying to look cool.

In case anyone is familiar with this, it's likely peroneal nerve damage. That nerve in conjunction with another major one controls foot movement. I can lift my heel but not my toes, so I have a floppy right foot when I walk. I am hoping it's an easy fix.

Anyway, it's good to be back...it was a long month!

Yep, I have a floppy and it's nice to get it out there...not the floppy bit but the fact that it's floppy. I can't get an MRI until next Tue which is the day I was supposed to fly back to work. Beer will flow, petroleum will be burnt, naughty food will be consumed.

Glad to see you have your priorities straight!
