  • Thank you! As you'll read below, I'm really enjoying the new camera. This week I finally got around to doing something I'd been planning to for a while, and that was to pull off the 'Focus' emb

Hmm. SO if it was started in 2001, then the Pontiac Sunbird (Late 80s, but this also encompasses the A, B, and C pillars) and later Sunfire (95-96 GT option) were years ahead of the trend with their

Back when the CSL and GTR M3's were made, it was before CF was popular like it is today, and stupid expensive! doubt it was a penny saver.

I quickly considered the 18" Ti wheels, but I think that might be too much 'Ti clone' for me. I dunno. BLQs and STs are still my favourites.

I'd better go talk to the parts guys....

Rendering for option #3:

i actually like that alot do that get them powdercoated possibly?

  • Author

Probably paint. I was having one heck of time trying to find a powdercoater last year, but there are painters. A friend of mine had a set of wheels painted last year and they looked great. Decent price too.

Paint the two bars and the surround around the lower grills the same color as the grills. ;)

Okay, might as well add a fifth wheel option to the list: Enkei RPF1s.

Having a one-month old set of summer tires in the basement for the Focus, I was considering a set of 16" OEM wheels for this year (see above), to get some value out of the still-new tires and save money in the process. Ideally I wanted aftermarket or a step-up in OEM wheels, but why not combine aftermarket and my stock tires?

Enkei RPF1s come in 16", in the Focus' bolt pattern, and are lightweight while being very affordable. If I'll be getting a second set of wheels anyway, I could afford these and then sell them next year or keep them, if I like them. I'd probably go gunmetal, as with the other choices. By not having to buy new tires (again) I'd also be able to do much more than just wheels, and check more items off of my to-do list for both cars. All I'd need on top of these are additional TPMS sensors, as I'd need regardless.

Not bad, ST-style. A handful have done this for real and shared on another forum I'm on, and it's not bad. It's been an idea.

GET THE ENKEIS. I love that style wheel.

Okay, scratch that maybe. 16" RPF1s don't have 5x108 as an option - only 18" versions do.

Blast.

Pfft...go with these for summer use. They look tits in 18".

But then I'm back at the initial dilemma. 18's mean new tires which adds to the cost, a lot. If these were in my bolt pattern, and 16s, and the colour I want, it'd be the perfect choice. If I HAVE to get 18s, that makes the field level again and means I might as well look at others.

I put up a thread on my car club's forum, asking my friends to look for any interesting/good 16", 5x108 wheels in our area that may pop up. I just want something.

Damn, I could get you dirt cheap GOOD rubber for under $390 for a set.

What about shipping though? :lol2:

I'll keep looking and thinking.

Road trip to the states, I'll hook you up.

Found these on Kijiji. Volvo V70R wheels, with tires. Keeps with the OEM+ theme, good price, though they'd need a bit of refinishing. 17" too. I contacted the seller for more information, specifically width and offset. We'll see.

YES YES YES YES

powder coat them black.

A lot of progress since I was last in here, those Volvo wheels for sure! They look amazing! Hope you can get them :)

  • Author

So the wheels are 17x8, which will fit depending on the offset. He says if they don't sell this week he will get them refinished and then list them again.

Those Volvos are 5x108?

  • Author

Offset should be +46. Should fit nicely.

These should be 5x108, and they're listed as such on kijiji.

  • Author

Replied to the email I got back from the seller. I want these.

How much?
