Petty’s Garage is no more. However I picked this up on eBay from PG Enterprise (Petty’s Garage). Not sure yet if this is going to be a grill emblem or a trunk emblem.

For the record, my front strut brace is a Petty brace. So I feel justified putting this on Violet !

I started a new mini project on Violet!

First some tape in strategic places.

Now some red and green Scotch Brite action.

Now wax and greaser remover…..

Add some primer….

Let it dry……..

Yes to both!

First layer…..needs 24 hours to hardened.

Second layer is on. I am not thrilled with the shade of “tan”. Once this layer is dry, I have a plan to fix it. Stay tuned!

I have not used my wood grain tool on it yet. I have been trying to get to a somewhat realistic wood base color first. Also, while experimenting with the tool on cardboard, it does not seem to work well with very thin paint. I may have to replicate a wood grain look with my airbrush.

Here is the final look of the Hurst shifter handle, for now.

These photos are with two coats of clear on the handle. There are about 10 layers of paint including gold and tangerine candy paint.

I am not 100% happy with how it looks but I need to get it clear coated in time for Power Tour. So this will do for now. My wood grain tool wss worthless on this project too.
