What Series of front drive shaft slip yoke have you decided on? The Series 1350 is bulky but has the most length of spline engagement.

Rick

i will go with what my driveshaft shop mate Brent recomends Rick, but yes we spoke about using a sonnax t35 adaptor and 1350

I didn’t expect the clearance issues with the headers !

But easy to fix !

I really want to get the body down on the frame next weekend and see what I need to chop to get the 6l80 fitting

Hello Chris,

I did not realize or remember this was a 6L80E build. What are you going to use for a transmission controller with your Gen 3 LS engine? Probably not the original Gen 3 P59 powertrain control module . . . ??? Maybe an E38 PCM??

Hi Rick

The Tcm is inside the trans , and the ecm has been custom set to work with the tcm

I had a company unlock the factory ecm and put a tune in it , then the loom was striped and simplified to a 4 wire hook up . Maf delete and added a air temp sensor

Oh and I got them to add a little extra length to the fly by wire gas pedal loom as it was a right hand drive Holden it came out of and of course the 63 is left hook 😎

I made a template for the first stage of the new tunnel

IMG_9442.jpeg

IMG_9443.jpeg

Then made it in 1.2mm sheet metal.

i am stopping here until i get my custom drive shaft and can see what else i need to cut/modify

i can see that the first floor support cross member is going to be too close !!!

This is where i will need to bring in my certfier to "tell me" what i can and cant do ...

watch this space !!!

The drive shaft its self will be a first for me ! i have never had a 6l80e trans ! all my other drive shafts have been what i think as normal slip yoke shafts, ! this one as you can see needs a telescopic shaft, i have a live axle and a fixed point rear output shaft ... i have had a price and pulled the trigger on it ...lets justa say, its not cheap...rofl

Best i go back to work tomorrow and make some money !

pin up bettie page GIF

But i am pleased !!! its progress !!! and more boxes ticked...

i have encountered a few cans of worms that i will need to deal with.... like ride height ...in the rear is tooo low... like 100mm too low ! and i will need to think about using a lokar cable trans shifter kit, and a speedo drive unit.

But the girls back on her frame ! thats progress !

oh look !!! its beer o clock !!! cheers guys .

I used a Dakota Digital speedometer drive unit and a little over a thousand miles later; it is working well. It needs around 3-5 MPH of forward speed before the speedometer needle begins to respond and it is very accurate after that. The needle is also very smooth in its operation.
