i am waiting on my rockauto balancer sleeve order!!! ( thank you to Fitzy) if that turns up i can pull the front off the engine and get the new seal in and test drive her to ensure the front seal leak is sorted before she goes on the hoist and i pull the jetaway!!

The trans guy is ready when i am!! so perfect time to pull it and set what will be a much bigger plan into motion... while the trans is out and the girl is on the hoist, i am going to refurbish the 8 lug drums, alter the spring heights,,, front going up 30mm backs going up 40 mm. and i think it will sit where i want it.

new wheel bearing will go in along with new brake shoes and replace all the springs in the drum set.

And like Fitzy 65 project, i am working towards vinning and making her road legal.... for new zealand

i will be sending my seat belts away once everyone's back at work, as they need to be restored and made compliant... really not a major job, but yet another box ticked that i know it would fail at the inspection she will go through...

for you guys state side... we have a really pita system that keeps changing and all us car guys and gals have to jump through fire hoops to keep our classics on the road legally...

hmmmm wonder if my 64 needs a covid pass???

hmmmm wonder if my 64 needs a covid pass???    Careful, needs 2 plus a booster.:stars:

A little while back i posted a picture of a 61 ventura 2 barrel air cleaner i won for a dollar on a auction site. Today when i got home i thought it was time to show you all what i was going to do with it... the pictures pretty much explain my idea!!  and took about an hour to make the modification:cheers: which was great, its 38 c here and its got to be beer o clock!! blood heat!!!

oh JustA6 will relate to this ! my hay contractor guy hasnt turned up yet!! i have 2 paddocks full of clover and rye, waiting to be bailed!!, i dont need any, as i have most of my hay from last year but my mate next door wants to buy the lot!

i had a 42mm diameter air intake and now i have a 100x30mm oval air intake... it must help with air flow!!... but keep it looking stock-ish

bit of prep and black paint tomorrow and it will be done... thought i might get a new decal for it off pontiworld for it,:dancingpontiac:

Happy New Year 🍻, that worked out great nice.

My stock air cleaner is the same as your 2$ air cleaner and is also for a 2bbl, i was hoping to find another base or modify mine for a 4 bbl. I guess i have to go to some swap meets and look around, don't even know if there is a 4bbl version of that style, may have to do what you did but cut the bottom part out and replace it instead.   It's 5C here in Socal this morning.

Thanks mate 👍👍👍

I am really enjoying working on the 64

its a pretty simple car compared to newer stuff

So what shape is the timing chain in? It looks to be decent enough, but we all know that looks are deceiving? I justa hope there is no slack in it.

yip there is a little slack in it mate, but its not going to be changed at this stage. plan is to get it through vinning and compliance and on the road, remember when i pulled the valve covers off?

that was the point that i knew i will have to rebuild the engine in the future.

From what i have seen of the bores, valve train and now timing chain, it will last a little longer. But long term a refresh is in order.

i will wait till Fitzy makes it over and he can help me do a rebuild

Hey Kiwi - I'm now laying awake at 3am trying to figure my way around all the electrical stuff that will need to be done in order to make the car road legal.

I can't find any info re US style flashing brake lights as rear indicators being legal or not. With your collection of old Yankers, did you ever have an issue?

I am using a aftermarket bottle bought from super cheap . But I want it to not only have a feed pipe into the radiator as a recovery tube but I wanted a dump tube too

which. The bottle had no provision for ... I drilled a hole ,fitted a rubber grommet ... and it was too small to fit the tube in so I heated up a bolt and melted the correct size hole I need ... note to anyone trying to open up a rubber seal,,, melt the sucker ... forget trying to use a drill bit !!
