OK, so couple of nights ago I was putting up my tools after working on Rosey. I noticed my console gauges were lit up. I figured myself or my son had turned them on or left them on while I as reconnecting the electrical to the console. Nope, switch was off. When I pulled the knob out the gauge light flickered off once then on really quick. I noticed at that time that the tach was also lit up, which is wired into the same circuit. I disconnected the battery and called it a night. Christmas eve I found myself tearing apart the console and double checking all the wiring. All looked good. As I was reassembling the console it got dark and I found myself using a flashlight. When I finished and turned off the flashlight, I realized the dash lights were also on. So, all the gauges are all wired into the same circuit as the dash lights. Pull the knob and all gauge lights and dash lights pop on. The dash lights are dimmer I guess because of it being a 1963. When I turn the head light knob the lights dim as they should. I decided to try the turn signal, when I clicked the turn signal arm down all lights turned off. Clicked back up to the middle position and the light came back on. Clicked the arm up and everything went off again. Clicked back into the middle and they came back on. I thought I'd get your thoughts before ripping apart the column. My thoughts are its probably that turn signal switch. What are yalls thoughts?

My thought is you have a brake/indicator light filliment feed power into the park light circuit

maybe ???

tricky one

but it’s certainly a cross circuit

Happy hunting mate 👍

Maybe Kiwi, but to the best of my knowledge it wasn't doing this 2 weeks ago. Wouldn't a crossed circuit have been doing this all along? I will definitely start looking at the brake circuit tomorrow bro.

So, I justa asked my son, he says he is curtain that the lights were not on as of 2 weeks ago or before.

JustA check your dual fillinent bulbs mate

one may have broken and dropped onto the other circuit within the bulb 👍

So your console lights should be wired into your dash lights, working off the headlight switch.  If the console was the last place you were messin with the wiring, that's the place for you to start. :my2cents:

Thanks guys, so it doesn't sound like either of you think the turn signal switch justa "went out". So I will check the bulbs and pull the console again and go back through it.

On a side note, I did get the exhaust tips put on in between rain showers today. They stick out about an inch farther than I wanted but I'm going to leave them and see if they grow on me before trimming them. I'll get pics and post them in the next day or two.

Thanks again guys.

So, I figured I'd start with the easiest solution first, the bulbs and then mess with the wiring if that didn't help. I pulled the driver's side taillight bulb and seen a burnt spot, "shit, these are my painting bulbs"! Pulled the passenger's side and 1 filament was glowing red like a cigarette lighter. Popped in the new bulbs and all gauge and cluster lights shut off. Pull the head light knob and all popped on. Yes, I pulled knob and pushed it in about a hundred times justa to make sure. The pics are of the bulb's I put in while painting so I didn't get paint in the socket. Thanks again guys, I would've never thought a bulb would cause that kind of an issue. Was so busy today I totally forgot to get pics of exhaust tips. I'll try too tomorrow.

Absolutely. They are a beautiful wheel and they cost thousands...literally. I emailed them years ago and couldn't believe the circa USD$2k they quoted me. I'll just stick with what I have. That way I can continue to afford to eat.

Well, figured I'd give yall an update. I never think about it because I don't find what am doing as interesting as what everybody else is doing. But here we are  my garage is a mess right now, to many projects going on. Dont judge :D

So I told yall about my dash pad getting messed up when the lady next door garage flooded. I have since striped it down and repadded it. I used the air stapler yesterday to attach a copper line to a piece of wood for a coffee pot I built, (long story), and today the damn thing wouldn't work to staple the dash cover onto the dash! Thats how my luck goes.

I also showed you the spinner knob I was making, well it's NOT finished yet. I have to wait until the steering wheel is finished to size up the bracket. But I did make a matching shifter knob. Remember, her name is Rose. The first picture was right after I finished it, but it felt too wide and uncomfortable. The last pictures were after I cut a finger grove and tapered down the bottom. Much more comfortable.

I am back to work on the steering wheel. I've got it down to a "good" size and justa need to apply another coat of acrylic to make it clear again. Hopefully that will be the last coat and then clean it up and repaint it.

The exhaust is completed, and the tips are coming out the bumper where the reverse lights used to be, (Wrongway's tip of the day: you only need back up lights if you drive backwards.) Well that put the brake hose that drops down to the rearend too close to the exhaust, so I moved that. Waiting for rain to stop so I can bleed the brakes.

Shifter is very cool.  Is the button for ROSE flavored NOS?    Awesome job buddy thankz for the update and pic's, BUT.... I was looking forward to seeing your exhaust.  :clapping:

I KNOW! Try $2000. I made that enquiry when I was thinking about my crappy wheel. Unless they're using real pearls, I ain't paying it.

Bloody nice though.
