  1. And we were sober! And supervised by Mrs. Notallthere. He! He! He! He! He! He! He!
  2. I feel real uncomfortable right now. I guess I will have sneak another smooch and hug from your wife.
  3. GE says it's a little on the dry side!
  4. Inline Tube made a custom parking brake cable for my '72 Lemans convertible after I switched from a 350TH to a 400TH tranny and suddenly the stock cable was too short. If you know how long you need, perhaps they can help. Won't hurt to call them.
  5. Well boys here is proof that GE sent home stump water with me from my recent trip to NC. As I have said before, I am not sure if I should drink it, pour it into my fuel tank as octane boast, or use it as topical hair remover/paint stripper.
  6. I agree with you Two Lane. These cars also fit my initial criteria of being RWD too.
  7. I looked at the photos online. She is a beauty!
  8. No offense taken, it appeared, to me at least, that you water pump pulley was a little larger than stock so I was wondering if so that you might be slowing it down unknowingly. I don't know that it would be a band aid if it was unintentionally slowed down in the first place. I would suggest getting a stock pulley and measure its diameter and then compare it to the one on the car. If the stock pulley is smaller then you've slowed down the water pump. Another thought, before you installed the new motor did you think to flush or replace the heater core? It's possible it could be partialled clogged from use/old age and restricting overall flow.
  9. I have a wild thought. What if you run a smaller pulley on the water pump and a larger one on the crank? Effectively speeding up the water pump and getting motor coolant through the engine. BTW I agree with you the bucket, I was more interested in showing you how to do it.
  10. This will be interesting to see how GM plays this out.
  11. Here are some simple DIY ways to burb the system. I also agree with Two Lane on checking the directional flow of your fans. It is one less thing to eliminate. Also it is important that the flow plugs between the water pump and block divider plate are installed. For the moment, I am going to assume they are installed correctly. http://automotivemileposts.com/garage/v2n15.html http://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-burp-a-vehicles-coolant-system http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/burping-air-from-radiator.790032/
  12. Hmmm....so does this mean that Vauxhall will become a re-badged division of Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac? Will GM build left-hand and right-hand drive Euro-spec cars in North America and then import them to Europe or expand manufacturing in the UK? With Holden being shutdown from a manufacturing perspective, it would appear that GM is consolidating manufacturing in North America, South America, and Asia (e.g Korea and China) at this time. I suspect a shake up in South America could be next since it too has been a perennial drain on cash as well. This is huge guys. Opel has been GM's premiere division/nameplate in Europe, UK, Africa and the Middle East for decades. Not to mention the heart of "global" engineering. I am wondering if the global engineering badge will move to Asia now.
  13. As a first guess, you might have a trapped air bubble in the coolant system which means you have to burn it out.
  14. Welcome to FP Dr Jones. I run a 455 with a Mr. Gasket wide mouth 180 degree thermostat. Thank you for posting your pictures of your engine bay. What is the story on the electric fans? Do they both come on at a pre-selected temperature? Are they working properly? Are you loosing any coolant? What is your oil pressure / temperature like when your water temperature is rising? Is your oil pressure low? Oil temp high? Is your oil level low at all? I ask because I know when my engine loses oil, the water temperature rises because the oil is getting too hot due to the oil loss.
  15. Thanks for the gadget/history lesson SPRINT, again I learned something new. Thank you sir!
  16. Last I heard the GTO has been sold a couple of times over already. It was in the hands of an east coast consignor the last time I heard it was for sale.
  17. You are most welcome my friend! Yeah I probably did Joe.
  18. The short answer is yes. That body style ran from 69-72 so all major sheet metal is the same. There were minor variations in the grille and such, but not for what you are talking about.
  19. Sprint6 is right on point. Your wallet dictates what you can do and what has to wait. Stock replacement parts are the cheapest and quickest way to improve your Tempest ride. One thing you have to consider is what do want to do with this car eventuallly? 100% stock? Auto cross? Occasional quarter mile blast? Circle track? Or quick street cruiser? These will all cost you various amounts of money depending on where you are going with this car. Since it is a four door I suspect is probably a stock cruiser but that is your call. Replacing worn out all bushings and ball joints should be a top priority. Inspect and repair as needed the drag link pieces, the pitman and idler arms, and rag joint. I think just doing this will make a tremendous improvement in your car. Once you have these things taken care you should also inspect the brakes. If it is a stock four wheel drum setup, that's okay for now. Again the wallet rules here. OEM parts still exist. Front disc and four wheel disc brake conversions can happen when you have the money. Adding a rear sway bar if your car doesn't have one will improve handling but it requires boxed rear lower control arms. Positraction is nice if you have an open differential. All it takes is money and time.
  20. The Corsair I saw in Idaho was definitely an F4U. It was being restored to airshow flying condition with accurate Navy paint markings on it. As much as I would love to see a F2G, especially in flying condition, it is clearly not meant to be. Still I feel privileged to see the Flying Zoo when they still flew in Kalamazoo. That was one of every flying piston and jet powered plane Grumman made. Wildcat, Bearcat, Hellcat, Panther, and Tomcat would flew in formation. Some flying at the rev limiters, others flying so slow the were close to stalling.
  21. So did I JUSTA. Last time I talked to Linda Vaughan is when she signed my shifter plate. She looked at me and said to me, "we've met before haven't we?". I said yes ma'am when I was 19 years old at the Gratiot Auto,Supply store in Flint Michigan in 1979. She looked at me, smiled, winked at me, and she said the old Gratiot slogon "tell'em Linda sent ya'!".
  22. A past Riddler winner....JUSTA, Indyman and I certain all remember Gratiot Auto Supply. Linda Vaughan was the spokesperson for Gratiot for a lot of years (besides Hurst). A DeSoto 331 Hemi powered '32 Ford Take a hard look at this '69 Charger. It is lowered, chopped and channeled. It is uber-sharp close up. A Buick GS-style wagon The General Mayhem from the guys at Roadkill TV and a newcomer, more modern POS Charger General Mayhem has a Hellcat engine and tranny along with nitrous. It raced the Fast N Loud Monkeys at the Pontiac Silverdome a couple of years ago and lost! The sign of this Charger says "this is not a wrap".
  23. I didn't get to see as much as I would've liked to either JUSTA. There were a few lead sleds in the Kavalcade of Kustoms I would have liked to have looked at. Not to mention there were several vendors I would have liked to have talked to as well.
  24. Sad really. That's like bringing the 442 or XLR name back as an SUV cross over. Ugghhh.....
