  1. Sadly I am screwed this year. I am on the organizing committee but I have been informed by the boss that we are quadruple booked for that day. We have a weddding to go to in addition to my nephews birthday party. So I won't be there.
  2. You know I will get her a set of brass knuckes....for her purse too! I can do this!
  3. The Michigan Widetracker's 29th Annual Spring Dustoff will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Davisburg Michigan, at the Springfield Oaks County Park. Registeration is $15 in advanced and $20 the day of the show. Please see that link for the show flier for details. The show is open to all Oakland, Pontiac, and GMC vehicles. http://widetrackers.org/ https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2i_dF2bjHjuV1c3bHpJZlA5cnc/view This show will be the first of three Pontiac-based car shows in SE Michigan or a tri-power / trifecta of Pontiac shows in the area. The second will be the Motor POCI show at Baker's of Milford on July 22 and the Sellers Buick-Pontiac-GMC show on September 24. If you register for all three shows, you will be eligible to win a grand prize. Here are the details concerning all three shows:
  4. Perhaps Colorado, New Jersey need to go farther and impound or confiscate the vehicle for being a rolling environmental hazard. $5000 or $10000 fine is the starting with which you get your vehicle back and it becomes subject to random emissions testing by state police officials for the next 5-7 years. Repeat violations and the fines increase dramatically or you become charged as a criminal environmental polluter. Just a thought.
  5. Here are my choices for her: For when Mr. Right turns into Mr. Flatulence! Gotta love Rat Fink! I can probably get Trixie (Big Daddy's widow) to personally autograph it too!
  6. Thanks for the support Two Lane! If that doesn't work and assuming that we have no physical wire breaks or shorts in the system, then the last two things in order of cost/effort to repair is the turn signal switch in the steering column or the body control module (BCM). Either one may be to be replaced. Both are timing consuming to get to and not as cheap to replace as the PC board. Which is why I start with the cheap/easy stuff first.
  7. What bothers me more - why is this news at all? We are about to close out the 2017 model year - heading towards 2018! This is freaking history! Who cares? Pro - remember Cadillac has to do things in small steps to justify their huge price tag.
  8. OK next thing would be to completely remove the rear driver's side tail light assembly. Once you have that out, you should find a printed circuit board/bulb holder that the bulbs plug into. I would remove it completely, and disconnect the electrical connection. Once it is out, look for any corrosion or broken leads on the electrical connections or in the bulbs sockets themselves. Also inspect your tail light lens (since you have it off) for any cracks or damaged weather seal where water can get through. If you find a lot of corrosion on this PC board, it may need to be replaced. Fortunately these parts are available. If you find slight corrosion, then some sand paper should clean it up and then add some di-electric grease to help keep any moisture in the future out.
  9. I talked with GE last night for a few minutes. As I said before, he claims he's been over powering all the tracks he has gone to. He told me had to start the races in 3rd gear because if he started in first or second, he'd light up the tires and smoke them badly. He said he wore out a brand new set of Hankok tires this trip. Sounds like he wants to make some changes to the rear end / rear end cradle to help him better plant the horsepower that he has. He told told me about a Shelby Mustang that he put in its place and a Hellcat that tried to challenge him. He spanked the Mustang real hard around Pigeon Forge. He blew away the Hellcat in an instant, but I will let him give you those details. The Mustang story was especially entertaining. Still he said he won some products/prizes as part of this whole experience. The net worth exceeds the cost of the trip, so good for him. He said he has downloaded only a third of his videos so far. He said he has one of the girlfriend taking videos and talking and you can hear her helmet hit the roll bar. He said it was pretty funny.
  10. Awesome car. A friend of mine also has a '42 Torpedo. His was built in January of 1942, just about 5-6 weeks before Pontiac shut down and converted to WWII production.
  11. Have you checked all the bulbs to see if one or more of the filaments are bad? I have had vehicles that will blink faster or louder when a bulb has failed or is about to fail. Check all the bulbs that blink from front to back on the driver's side. If it is a bad or failing bulb, it might not be in back but it is in the left hand turn signal circuit.
  12. I love the comment about "going full-kill race car"....if he only know how true that really is!
  13. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2017/05/01/gm-opens-renovated-factory-one-flint/101161456/ I have never been in Factory One before in my life. I have driven pass it many a time though. Someday I hope to be able to check it out.
  14. One less rice rocket in this country.
  15. I got to admit they got one thing right for sure.... "it's a full on build that gets beat on like it's a cheap rental." Imagine this wicked thing as your daily driver too? Some of the best photos of the car I've seen yet (that I didn't take at least) in this article too.
  16. We both got what we needed. Space and a grinder stand.
  17. The sad thing is the Torpedo body style does not get a whole lot of love in terms of after market support. I am sure you know that. I know that some Chevy body parts do interchange with the Torpedo. So you could try contacting Chevs of the 40s. Sacrilegious - I know. https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/ There is also the Fender Skirt Depot, but I don't know of anyone who has gone through them before. So I have no idea what to expect with them. I would call them to see what they might recommend. http://fenderskirtdepot.com/Pontiac/
  18. Didn't help. GE told me last night that he is already over powering all the tracks he's been to so far with that supercharged elephant motor. Can you imagine that? GE has too much horsepower for the track? Say it ain't so Joe!! He's promised to send me a video of the girlfriend sitting in the front passenger seat. I guess she hasn't filled her drawers yet. Still I'll bet the looks are priceless.
  19. A little rattle can paint to help ward off rust on the bare metal and she's a done. Well done buddy! In case any of you guys are a little ticked off that he used a Rally II rim, don't. I gave him that rim for that purpose. It was a 15" rim that I had sandblasted and powder coated, intending it to be used as a new spare tire rim. It came back from the sandblast/powder coat process so badly and deeply pitted all over that the rim was not worth fixing. So I asked notallthere if he wanted to use it as a stand for a grinder. It got one more thing out of my parts stock pile too.
  20. Try contacting LeBaron Bonney http://www.lebaronbonney.com/restoration-interiors.htm Also talk to a local reputable auto upholstery shop. If the fabric is still available, perhaps they can repair/replace just the damaged piece.
  21. Very cool stratman. Thank you! I do indeed still own it. I am the sole owner of this 42k mile car. I purchased it new in November 1985 after ordering it in July. It has been in cold storage at a buddy's place for the last 5 years after we sold our old house with the 4-car garage and work shop. The new house has more bedrooms but crap for a garage and the wife isn't seeing my vision for building a pole barn yet either with the kid graduating from high school in three weeks and going off to college in the fall. It pains me not to drive it. It's all I can do to drive and maintain Lucy these days. With any luck, perhaps later this summer, my buddy and I can change the oil and start it up - once travel baseball season ends at the end of July of course.
  22. No worries buddy. I can see how you might think that based on how I wrote it.
