My package from Summit Racing came today. What could it be?

I finally broke down and got a mini-starter for Lucy. I will install it once the weather gets warmer. Laying on a 25F cement floor is not a good thing!

interesting if it will fit Frosty ! .. the oriention doesnt look the same as my road runner .......

I note if I am correct your starter will mount on the drivers side and your battery connection is facing the block

See it’s on the out side in my road runner

Kiwi - the blue connector you see in the photo is NOT the battery terminal, it is the connection between the starter motor and the solenoid. The battery terminal is on the opposite side- facing away from the block (notice the paper tag in the photo?). The starter also can be clocked somewhat to keep it as far away from the engine as much as possible..

Yes I saw that frosty justA that the picture I am looking at shows the block surface facing up and the battery terminal on the right hand side , which would be against the block ..

Your stater mounts in the drivers side aye !

Here is a rare treat for all y’all.

Remember how I have said that I purchased Lucy from a blind man? Well I found this envelope in my personal firebox with all my important stuff like car:titles, birth certificate, my passport, etc. This is the man I purchased Lucy from back in 1995! His name was Duane Fischer. Sadly Duane passed away in 2017 at the age of 71.

Here is the link to Duane’s obituary.

I put some fresh bling on Lucy today…..a new PONTIAC for the front grille. New on top, old one on the bottom.

I decided to start installing my new chrome valve covers on Lucy that I’ve had for awhile. I started with the toughest side first, the passenger side with the AC compressor. I removed the brackets.

IMG_5571.jpeg

The valve cover looks great. There is just one small problem. The valve cover bolts for the old chrome valve covers are too short!!! Aaagghh!

Sonofsb&@&@/!

So I went to the local hardware store and I bought $10 worth of longer stainless bolts and matching washers. I hope they fit. I will get back to it tonight or tomorrow.

I will let you when I get back to it.

Frosty, maybe it just the picture, but that bolt you say is stainless looks like a plated bolt. Did you put a magnet to it? Not trying to tell you your business JustA asking.

If that ends up the case & for any reason you can’t find 304 or 316 SS let me know. Tell me what size & length & I’ll send you some. Also stainless & steel tend to expand & shrink differently & as such sometimes the bolts will loosen over time. I always use a little Loctite on them. The non hardening kind.

My two cents anyway.

You make an Interesting observation Last Indian ! I had not considered that. I will have to keep an eye on these for awhile, justa in case.

The new valve covers are on and bolted down. I am in the process of getting the AC compressor bolted back up, then Inwill be done with this particular project.

I got everything buttoned up under the hood tonight. I had a mounting bolt that goes between the back brace and the back of the AC compressor that fought me Friday night. Today I got the better of it and got everything hooked back up and the air clearner is back on. I didn't take any additional pictures. I didn't see the need this time.

Next projects on my list for Lucy is installing the adjustable upper rear control arms from Hotchkis and the new mini-starter.

I tried having Lucy towed the repair shop after lunch today. The tow truck driver picked up Lucy with no issue and once we got to the shop, it was closed. A handwritten sign on the door said closed due to health problem. Hmmmm.....so Lucy got towed right back to the garage mahal. I was not willing to leave her unguarded overnight in that part of town period. So I may have to pivot and take Black Beauty to the WIdetracker's Dust Off on Saturday, June 13th instead. I doubt that I have enough time to get Lucy fixed before I leave Sunday for Power Tour.
