  1. after working all saturday, i managed to get 2 hours on sunday to try a new set of shorty headers i bought, they are to suit a camaro and they are the closest i could find that will give me the ground clearance i need, all the full length headers i have tried ( 3 set) are all too low to the ground, as i am running super low springs and castlemaine 2 inch dropped spindles. So shortys are the way to go... BUT πŸ™„ Right hand side was a perfect fit even with my right hand steering !πŸ‘πŸ˜œ but the left side with all its room is hitting on the from suspension mount, i looked at it for about an hour and humed and herred , and i know from here the only way to fix this issue is to bite the bullet and chop it up and start from scratch
  2. last Indian, my plan is to grab those cibies off trademe, if i win the bid !πŸ™„ and then score some hid kits, but what i may do is buy those off my trusted local auto electrician, so if they shit them selves i can go back to him 😜 and i will post here how the whole set up goes... and i bet your going to be impressed with the out come
  3. Ok thank you, that makes way more sense and i can relate that to what your were saying about the cibiesπŸ‘
  4. this one is really hard to understand, in the context of head lights i googled it but it was not clear about the bending of light in respect to automotive lighting
  5. great info last indian, and if i pay 400 nz for the cibies its not over the top, looking at danielsternlighting. pricesπŸ‘
  6. Yes i know what you mean frosty, i too dont want a head light that looks odd, the cibies will look stock but like last Indian said, can give way better performance that a projector can !πŸ‘πŸ‘ i have bided on the cibies and if i win them i will set them up on the new girl(caddy) and then once i have bonny sorted i will give them to her i really like Last indian's idea of using a hid bulb system. its Thursday night here and i am buggered, work load is like pre xmas, everyone wants something done yesterday !!
  7. yes Fitzy, i have noticed the freight charges have gone up heaps!!! to the point were i have been very careful who i buy off... amazon is a complete no go as they are charging way too much, rockauto are still high but not too bad, i have a mate who has a shipping yard in La and i have used him a few times for gear he can put in a car when its shipped, but that just means i get it in 2 months!!πŸ™„
  8. Thank you Last indian! great info again ! i will read up about hid ... really dont know much about them, but what i do know is i am having trouble driving at night !!!πŸ™„ and more light will help no end!πŸ™„ eyes are one thing i never thought would bugger up, but man... i am only 54 and they are going south fast !😞
  9. good on ya Fitzy, look forward to the pictures of his handy workπŸ‘
  10. Frosty, did you find out if the belt line on the 65 is the same as a 64 bonny ?
  11. Hmm, i will ask the guy what the condition of the reflectors are and if they are brand new... might just grab them ! i like your idea Last indian, of finding a hid bulb to fit them,
  12. last indian, would these be the cibie lamps you are referring to back last year ? https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/vintage-parts/electrics/listing-2651248150.htm?rsqid=0d772b61741743cbac9ff04ac1674882-00
  13. hell no! its a trap !!πŸ˜„
  14. We stopped at a cafe this morning and had nice brunch before heading home
  15. She had a really ugly tow bar which was the first thing to go!πŸ˜‹ story goes that back when she was in England my friend would tow a caravan around the country Back in the 90's this was the first wedding my friend and i did together ( 56 was my girl)
  16. We have a new toy in the shed, its a 1959 Cadillac sedan de ville flat top 6300 series This one, we made the deal mind march and i have only just picked her up last weekend thanks to the lock down it was owned by my very good friend and neighbor for the last 30 years, before it was here in nz it was one of his cars in England and was exported to here in early 1990s' My friend spent half the year here and the other half in the England for many years, and has a fleet of toys, but sadly his health is not too flash any more and he has sent many of his cars back to uk. And i dont think he will ever get back here again πŸ˜” its had a pearl paint job, custom interior, nice sound system and air ride suspension fitted, the tires are brand new along with the whole brake system. engine is a 429 big block out of a 64 caddy and turbo 400 trans to stock diff. I only got her Last weekend and this weekend was a test drive down to the mountain and we went along with a few of my mates and stayed in a camp there, spent the night socializing and having a nice bit of a catch up along with a beer or 3
  17. old guy44, doesn't the 6l80 have a inbuilt neutral switch ?? and if so, buy pass your column switch . OR, pull your slide switch which is mounted on your steering column out and make a new matrix board with contacts to suit your trans pattern
  18. havoc. i agree with two lane, get a couple of barbed fittings and use a short length of fuel hose to get you going and use good quality clamps... as a short term fix
  19. yes, see to me, thats cheap as! it would cost me $700 nz just for the ac compressor without freight 😑! well done mate
  20. oh completely agree with you too Justa ! that thread would be full in a week !! my youngest wants a new shower installed in her home... when i have nothing to doπŸ™„
  21. Well done frosty! those hoses are really good at welding them selves to the metal connections and remember what you told me about old fuel hoses? i recon same applies to heater hoses too!! replace the lot. good on you for doing this job your self, if you had a shop do it they would charge you a arm and a leg to do just what you went through AND you will know exactly what you have fitted. i also agree, if you had a original core in hand to take it and have it rebuilt but since its an after market one, just replace it full stop i wonder why the different pipe sizes to the core???? to reduce flow rate and allow for more heat absorption ????
