  1. Last Indian.... i have a whole new level of appreciation for what you did with your steering wheel !!! i have spent sooo many hours just sanding !! And i am just in primer stage😡 it would have been so much easier to just buy a after market wheel 🙄
  2. Things have slowed down thanks to the weather turning to sh_t and even priming the steering wheel has been a pita ! i have had to revert to bringing my work into the lounge and getting some warmth
  3. i used an in- tank kit from tanks inc. https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=84/category_id=61/mode=prod/prd84.htm pump and surge tray fit cleanly in side fuel tank, keeps noise down, pump stays cool and way neater installation, and saves on trunk space.
  4. i for one would be keen to hear some detail tricks👍 Stewy
  5. yip no.... wont work, these clips are angled to the body so a universal clip wont work, i have seen nothing "pontiac" thats any were like the trim clips i have. the closest is the 64 impala ones. so i think i will just order them and fingers crossed they are right, like Last Indian has said, gm standard belt line hopefully🙄
  6. Bit the bullet and cleaned the wife mini today, little car, piece of cake !!! NOT i started at 10 am, and its 3.45pm and finished😡 i even found the garage door opener she lost 2 years ago, covered in chocolate glued to the blind side of the passenger seat😦 oh and one little thing that i wont be telling the boss about...... a rat has chewed the sound insulation under the hood !🤨 any way its beer o clock stay safe everyone
  7. Thats just what happens to me too!! i now have a drum of petrol in the shed just for that reason!! HAHA
  8. Oh, i have been putting off cleaning my wife's Mini, its a mess, and i have been waiting for a rainy day as it will take me 4 hours to completely detox it. Half of the issue is that its black, and Black shows up every scratch, even with its ceramic coating Dont get me wrong, she is a good girl but man can she trash her car.... 🤣 my work van is cleaner than the boss's car😜
  9. First layer on yesterday was Hard this morning but it needs a second layer and i will leave it for a good 24 hours to cure.
  10. I think your bang on Last Indian, i tried a test with acetone and the clear melted easy as, but the black not so. hope the expoy polymer works if not nothing really losted
  11. Pulled the broken steering wheel off and you can see where its not broken, it has been cut !!, there is cut marks like a jaws of life have chopped it So i have straightened it, mig welded it and Last Indian has given me the idea i can fill it and file it. So i have tonight filled it with a 2 pot epoxy polymer and lets see tomorrow what its like and hopefully i can get too and start filing it. i am guessing that the wheel is covered in an acrylic plastic ??? its certainly not Bakelite. My plan is to sand it flat and paint it Black, but what paint to use on this material... and as always at the moment, do i have anything in the shelf that will do it... i am running out of supplies real quick and we still have 2 more weeks of complete lock down, prime minister today is talking 23 April moving out of full lock down to a level 3... which means i can get back to work!! weee hee !! before my company goes completely bust 😡
  12. Front grill support panels primed and just like the fender, they will need a bit more attention when i can get my hands in some hi build primer surfacer.
  13. A Big freaking file! Seriously! & a lot of muscle, sandpaper & patiences! Your clearly a very patience guy !!!
  14. Pulled the belt line reveal off, after i had removed the interior trim and found 2 nuts and another in the boot👍 thanks guys,, i was thinking they where just clips pushed in. i was lucky as its just surface rust only, so i have treated it and primed. But the retaining clips are buggered, and i cant find anyone who is selling them, which brings me to this question. Being a 2 door hard top identical to a 64 impala, could the trim be the same... if so i found these guys sell the clips https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/product/1964/1964-chevrolet-impala-caprice-bel-air-rear-window-belt-reveal-molding-clip-kit-lower-c9082/81172
  15. oh i am soo impressed last indian!!! i am with Justa Tell me about how you shaped the wood on your steering wheel. how did you make it round in both dimensions ?
  16. Justa6... i may or may not of just wet my pants watching the video of the black convertible 64 bonny !!! i want one !!!
  17. last Indian, i am so impressed with what you built... major to you
  18. thnaks Last Indian, i do exactly what you have suggested, and tonge in cheek it dont stuff it !!!😦 some cool videos too Justa 👍 i am going to pull the wheel and break it down, and i like the idea of the stone top epoxy, i have a mate who owns a bench top factory, he will have this stuff, and like frosty said, for get the cleary and just go solid colour
  19. Thanks Frosty... i will make one of these!!!
  20. I need some input from you guys about what to do with my steering wheel..... i could just buy an after market wheel and stick it on... that would be the easy way out.😋 But i want to try and save this steering wheel, any one had and experience with rebuilding a wheel like this with clear sections ???? any advise would be great . and i am not scared of trying to weld it up and making a mold etc... never done it but keen to learn or... does some one have one for sale ???? The other issue i had today is i have a spot of rust under the rear window trim and i want to remove this trim.... i would really!!! like some input as to how to remove this trim with out stuffing it up!! hope one of you has been there done that, and can give me some advise....😦😦
  21. spent a little time today just fixing small chips and dents around the body and tomorrow i have the front panels to sand and prime.... managed to score myself 4 more rattle cans of primer thanks to who you know NOT what you know😜
  22. wow!! you certainly had a major job with both camaros!!! i am impressed with your full Chassis on both cars, bet that made a difference to handling too ! i had a 75 lt and it had the same big bumpers as your wife 74, with that great big leaf spring behind the ally. i read some where how in 72 over 110k camaros where crushed after thay didnt meet the new frontal impact rules, guess that is why the big bumpers. not sure who true that was ...🙄
  23. mate, i am so impressed with the craftsmanship have every done a thread on how you go about making your wheel and trim?? i would certainly be interested on the process
  24. Haha, phone cameras tells soooo many lies mate !! a nice coat of high build primer and a wet sand will get rid of them... even the wife says it looks fantastic!!.... when are you fixing the front she goes.... i reply.... when i get my CHASSIS !! its just a bloody neat car Last Indian, it is my very first pontiac but its so gm, which makes it so basic to understand how every thing is put together. What gets me with this car is the hi po engines from factory !! and those big ali finned drum brakes... just sooo cool 😋 oh and the steel .... so easy to work with!!!
  25. Haha, i clicked !!! very cool Justa, Last Indian, i always wanted a gen 1 camaro.!! have had 2 gen 2s and they are pretty cool too, my orange girl is a 72 model and here is the ram, i bought off a importer mate of mine who scored it out of Ca, he paid next to nothing for it, its a 96 four wheel drive model with the 360, and i love it, its big its tuff and man... i have towed some stuff with it and sooo easy!😋 shes done 380k miles before i got her, has had a new motor, gear box and god knows what else before i got her. original paint, which i will not touch.. it so cool to have the patina. the boss keeps going on at me to repaint it but i dont want to, once you paint it its not original. it has no rust except what you can see on the rear. Up till 2 years ago we used her to tow our retro caravan, and spent many weekends at the beach with our mate on the turps! and my vinson 500 fits nicely on the back with the tail gate closed, fishing gear loaded up, konkiki etc you will note Harry is in and ready to head to the beach !!!
