  1. These are mine and the bosses rocker cover racers, we have had a lot of fun running these at rod runs and even at the Nationals i used a straight 6 gmh cover and the boss used a holden v8 one. hers runs skate board wheels inboard style and i went with a custom skate board bearing front and hand made rear wheel set up ( no lathe job)πŸ™„ I am running a plum crazy paint job and the boss went with a tampax theme !! hence the cord! both at the max weight of 10 pounds max weight under international rules If anyone is keen on sharing specs i am always keen to make speed improvements,
  2. Think its the "its worth what someone will pay" thing aye Frosty... me, if i wanted it, heck i would just pay the number, if thats what you love.😜
  3. Do any of you guys do rocker racing at your events? And if so, do you want to share some tips ? i have been doing this for a number of years and had lots of fun building and racing them
  4. Thank you mate great info above and below "the line" i will do some hunting around to see if i can buy these here!! i am sure my 389 engine deserves the good oil and my 313 poly and my 400 and 350 sbc and the ram 360, heck they may be best for the cortinas ! Last Indian.... What are you paying for this oil??
  5. Justa! can you send me some of that gas!!! i filled up my work van today and saw the price had dropped from $2.23 PER LITRE TO $1.91 😑 If you can buy me 1 million litres i will pay your retail and sell it to all my mates and retire ! Hell, i will personally pick it up, buy a boat and sail it back here!!! ( oh and have a beer with you 😜, check out your toys too ! )
  6. well done Frosty!!! i am going to share these gems with my mates !!
  7. Yes Justa, when i bought the Bonneville i did my home work on what they are worth on your side of the ocean and remembering it would cost me 4 k to get any toys to nz plus what i was going to have to spend.... i never factor in my labour... i do this because i like building/repairing/restoring cars😜 it spins my wheels big time, wife has never figured that out !! hahaπŸ™„ She looks at it and goes "why did you want a smashed car".... and thats when i go...πŸ™„πŸ™„ and look at the sky, take a deep breath and explain the facts of life as a petrolhead to my wife AGAIN ! haha
  8. Trust your all sitting down!! this is what 64 Bonneville go for here https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2507440139 https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2545530497 then thers the 74... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/pontiac/auction-2578515163.htm?rsqid=9297136983de4ab09e9089ca97a82ba2-002 and this one down the road https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/specialist-cars/hot-rods/auction-2521004899.htm?rsqid=9297136983de4ab09e9089ca97a82ba2-002
  9. Last Indian, this topic is very interesting, my issue is, you walk into your parts store and look at all the oils and not one of them will have the information on them you really need. you have to go home, jump on the inter webby thing and hunt down the specs. great example : i have an old drum of bp 2000 oil, i hunted the web for its specs.... and found very little. when i am looking for oils for my old cars i know i need zinc, but most on the shelf oils dont state how much zinc they have in them. Got to remember here too is we pay anything from $6 to $25 per litre (nz dollars and there 4 litres in a gallon) so cost is very relevant. https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/shop-by-category/servicing-and-maintenance/engine-oil
  10. yes thats a very good Point Last Indian!!! i used hammerite paint as i know it sets really hard!! fingers crossed it does not melt!! HAHA i saw what you had done and thought to myself.... i can do that. but truly a brain dead job sanding the finger recesses, and like Frosty said, beers helped... lots of beers Justa kind of miss the clear sections and the black is not a match to the dash, its more of a brown black if you know what i mean .
  11. Haha, yes Frosty..... many many beers, would have been cheaper to buy a brand new one!!😜 Wheel back on....and i am not sure i like it!!πŸ™„πŸ™„ I think i will hunt down a factory one, but it will do for now! SO!!! IF ANYONE HAS A BLACK/CLEAR WHEEL OR COMES A CROSSED ONE PLEASE PM ME
  12. Oh, nice fix fitzy !!! and Yes... fix first beers second !! HAHA must remember that! the muck metal must wear with age i am guessing
  13. Hay Ringo they are out of a vf ss holden, think they are also in your r8 pontiacs too
  14. 5 days, 3 coats of primer, 3 times wet sand just to get to this point!! pita πŸ™„ Its been a nice sunny day so it was a good chance to get top coats on and start drying. Not sure if i colour sand it and clear coat it too, guess i will wait till its nice and hard and see what the shine is likeπŸ™„
  15. Put all the dash back in and did a carbon fibre sticker job on the dash and hand brake, just to tidy it up a bit Fiddly work but worth it
  16. Got word that we are going down to "level 3" next Tuesday so i can get back to work!!! which means i can work, but not travel out of my region!!😦 Government is making noises that we could be in "level 3" for 2 weeks and then down to "level 2" and then i can get my arse to Auckland and get my Chassis!!!! i have completed ALL the jobs the boss had on her list and so i am running out of things to do with what materials i have 😑
  17. Got all the front assembled and looking nice and clean, removed the Holden badge and Chevroleted it
  18. Got all the seat mount plates completed and used a whole mega dynamat kit on the floor, inner rear panel, roof and inner doors. installed the carpet kit and wired in the seat controls. bolted new seats in and am very happy with how much nicer they are than the repo "race seats"😜
  19. Gees thank you Last Indian, i have certainly learnt something today πŸ‘ As i read your explanation, i thought how can i monitor the tbn/tan ratio... then you answered it....colour of the oil. thats very much what i look for, i like my engines to have clean looking oil, if its not i swap it out. And with most of my fleet they stay clean thanks to bugger all use !
  20. Last Indian, your going to have to explain what is the TBN number πŸ™„
  21. As per my hobby car manual, i have made a double plate that fits under and above the floor, min area is 3 1/4 x 2" or 80mm x 50mm and 3mm thick each plate has to have a 5mm / 3/16 radius corners and all which contact with the structure of the floor pan must have a 0.1 mm or 1/24th radius. Pretty easy with a cut off saw to tickle up πŸ˜‹ then you have a max of 5mm plug weld hole to hold it in place or, you can use a money rivet x 2 max 1/8 time two too hold them in place.. nothing major but very explicit in what you can and cant do.πŸ™„πŸ™„ oh look at the time !!!! its ..... BEER -O - CLOCK AGAIN Gees dont the days fly when we are working on our cars !
  22. So with the weather being sh-t i cant do much on the Bonneville, so i am on to my HQ Holden ute ( Justa6 street ) i have a set of VF commodore/ R8 pontiac seats to fit and they look way better than the "race seats" have had to make mounts to comply with our new zealand LVVTA requirements so it will get through certification to get it back on the road . Basically here if we mod anything we have to get it certified to get legal for the street, way easier than Australia, they have it really hard. so i made all my mount plates and plug welded then to the floor pan...as per Blah blah πŸ™„
  23. Yip justa6, pretty sure you cant see any scratches from 13,553 kms awayHAHA
  24. Last Indian.... i have a whole new level of appreciation for what you did with your steering wheel !!! i have spent sooo many hours just sanding !! And i am just in primer stage😑 it would have been so much easier to just buy a after market wheel πŸ™„
