This is why I fucking hate Grand Am owners.

Saw a GA in the ditch the other day (snow) I screamed at the top of my lungs. "IT'S THESE ASSHOLES THAT MAKE ME LOOK BAD"

At least the GA noobs haven't tried the stance faggotry with their cars.

That actually looks decent.

It looks like the suspension is broken.

I'd up the wheels an inch or two in diameter.

Stupid and unsafe. No thanks.

That actually looks decent.

yeah i'm gonna have to go with NO on that one Alex

How is that unsafe again? I bottom out that same front strut in my car.

It looks a whole lot better than the typical weak offset/cheap wheel/1-1.5" drop W-body combo.

damaging the wheel itself when hitting potholes and/or other objects in the road. If you run a lot of negative camber with a narrow tire it's only a matter of time before you bend the inside lip of the wheel.

The tire can fall off the bead easier too

Also tires aren't designed for this, that should be the first red flag...

The body of your Bonneville isn't that low.

Being that low isn't good for the car. You put excessive stress on the CV axles (I guarantee they're bent upwards) tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints and any suspension bushings.

As for the tires, it's obvious why it's hazardous. Stretching tires like that is asking for blowouts. Add in the unnecessary camber, all you're doing is putting strain on the wheel bearings and wheels in ways they shouldn't be. Let alone, the tire wear it causes. It's not a road course racecar, excessive negative camber is useless on a street car.

As for small drops, people don't always want to be excessively low to draw attention. As for weak wheel setups, that's because W-body guys either grab OEM wheels or something cheap off TireRack. All TireRack does is find wheels with the same offset as factory so no rubbing occurs. But I like aggressive wheel setups done correctly.

My Bonneville is running larger wheels overall.

CVs at crappy angles: wear out faster but not dangerous, they'll be letting you know they're bad wayyy before it's dangerous

Ball joints: Ball joints have plenty of travel to accommodate lowering and are also designed with a high engineering safety factor - not dangerous

Tie rods: Same

Suspension bushings: same as CVs, not dangerous

Wheel bearings: Same

Negative camber: Not dangerous - Auto-x guys run up to -4 or so.

All I'm getting out of that is more maintenance.

You guys are acting like tire stretch just started happening. It's extremely common and done without issue. It's hardly as dangerous as you guys make it out
to be.

So this guy maybe hits a pothole and bends his rim worse. That could happen with a larger wheel and low pros.

If a chain has a weakened link, it won't "tell you before it fails". That instant failure (chain snapping) is very possible when you run joints in angles they're not designed for. Now, if that is all changed over to have CVs that are more compliant to higher angle of use, great. But if that's stock, that is a BAD idea.

Not my car, not exactly my problem. But if someone broke a wheel off and hit my car, or someone I knew, I'd be ALL over them with a lawsuit and take everything they owned. But I'm a jerk, so maybe thats just me :D

Just because people stretch tires, doesn't mean it's safe or should be acceptable. If you want to run a 10.5" wide wheel, get a proper tire with the width that will fit it.

Pic of how much stretch this guy is running, that's just idiotic. The sidewall construction of tires are not designed for that in any way shape or form. Everyone disregards the obvious dangers just because "they've never had issues".

Still unsafe.
