Guys , we have been working on our steering wheels for years and I found a place that restores them and I thought this is the place to share it

You couldn't have found this 3yrs ago? lol I'm curious to know what they charge. That guy in NY claimed to have bought Pontiacs original tooling and would rebuild your steering wheel in the factory colors only at the cost of $1400 each. I emailed the people in the link you posted and asked for a price on my 63'. Looks like they do good work, I'll let you know what they say.

Well that steering wheel company has a superfast response time. They sound really good to. The short story is $2600 + $80 to a $150 return shipping for U.S. based customers and comes with a lifetime warranty. I posted screen shots of the email in case anybody wants to read their process or wants to reach out to them.

$2700 would get you a trailer, might even rent ya a truck if needed, and maybe a couple mad $$$$ to bring your ride up for the Dream cruise.

My dad drove full-size Pontiacs from the late fifties through the early seventies, a number of which had the Lucite steering wheels. I distinctly remember the “clear” part of the wheel was not clear but slightly tinted to match the color of the spokes/grips. To this day when I see a restored wheel without the corresponding tinted Lucite, it just looks wrong to me.

I can’t be the only one who remembers that detail.

Tim , i wonder if Dennis can add a tint to the clear to make it like Lucite ?

I am tempted to have my 67 Firebird's wheel redone it isn't in bad shape, but being a very late production 67 (3rd week of July 67) it has a solid colored Steering wheel, the cars with the custom interior are supposed to have the same wheel but with a clear top 1/2. I really like the looks of the 1/2 clear wheels, I owned a few B-Bodies with them. I will have to measure my Birds wheel as some sources site the F-Body wheel is 1" smaller than the full size and A-Body wheels. Hmmmmm pondering.
