  • Here in Florida, no inspections. Long as my car doesn’t have a loud, custom exhaust, no laws to stop you. I have seen trucks with bent frames driving down the road where their front wheels aren’t alig

  • Dang, good luck with that! Interested to see how it goes 👍

Chris, I hope you used a digger to dig out the footings, and not a spade!

Technically that is considered recognition where I am from mate!

Not good recognition necessarily - since you will tell them to bugger off to any potential future customers that ask you for a recommendation. I am sure COVID is the convenient excuse.

Look at it this way, more quality lager time mate!

yes me too mate, but i dont have access to aggregate or a truck n trailer unit that can move 30 plus ton of metal.

i COULD go to my local landscaping shop and pay $110 per metric ton for the metal( and they have it sitting waiting ) i need but why would i do that when i can get a contractor price at $46 per ton including delivery :)

times that by the 80 ton i need...big dollars,,,, and you have to remember i have to answer to the boss as she pays the bills and is all ready banging on about how much this new room is costing.... even though its her project ...🙄

i have cars sitting outside that need to be in the garage but i am not allowed to extend my shed till the new room is done:rofl:

once again !

 happy some thing

happy... um ur. i forget !!!

Mind you I do have some cool toys to do the job

little up date!

boss got home.

saw the metal and says.... whats with this dairy farm shit !

i explain... it is not dairy farm track metal !!

i flatten a section and pull out the hose a wash down the metal/fines mix...

all of a sudden the boss can see its a blue grey split stone surface.....

happy wife:stars:

Honestly ! the things i do!!🙄

for anyone reading this and wondering what the heck he is banging on about.

we live rural. i dont have mega dollars to concrete the heck out of my back yard/ drive way .

this is my Kiwi solution to a property that is all pumice.

Mate - we're all hearing you. You plan meticulously, arrange for stuff to turn up, synchronise the delivery with the excavator dude and all it takes is for one piece of the puzzle to fall down. It's because all the tradies don't NEED your business - they can pick & choose. When I was at school, if you were academic (like me) then you went through high school. If you were not quite so academic, you went to trade school. Back then, it was assumed that in order to get a 'good job' you needed a formal education. Well, that certainly backfired. Now the tradies rule the roost and because their work is government standards regulated, woe betide anyone who dares to do their own minor electrical or plumbing.

Anyway, I'm sure it will all work out. Looking good so far.

Yip I was told by one of my teachers I would come to nothing in my life ....

haha. Well 30 years later that same  teacher had me fix her instantaneous electronic water heater!

I charged her appropriately

I hope you drove the Hellcat over there and jumped out wearing a tuxedo and brandishing a plumber's wrench muttering about how the show is going to start soon and this has really put you out.

You showed her.

Looks good brother

It does look good. I like how there are vehicles in various states of disrepair scattered about the property - it's like you planted a spark plug and then up popped a Pontiac.

After the metal arrived last week i had to wait till this Monday to get my digger mate back with his bobcat, digger and roller to get this driveway and court yard sorted! and its DONE. we ended up with another 69 ton of split stone

and once compacted its as hard as concrete!

It looks brown and dirty but once its rained on all the fines will wash in and i will end up with a blue/grey stone finish. i will need to go around all the edges that the roller could not get too and use a plate compactor to "push in" all the stone to flatten it, its super course 40mm( inch and a half) but with lots of fines in it.

You said it! We bought our small acreage about 6 years ago and there's no way I'd ever have a chance of purchasing around here now. Although I moan and carry on a lot, I KNOW I'm lucky.

Your driveway looks great.

That missus of yours is a slave driver. Do what I do: put on a crash helmet and some padding and then tell her to f@#k off and leave you alone. This method works for me, although I still get bruised a bit. Thank goodness beer is there to soothe the pain.
