My buddy Kevin's Stanced Mazda3. Yes, he drives this daily. I'm not a fan, but he is a good friend of mine, and I give him kudos for DD'ing the Mazda like this.

First... is that thing on airbags? or does it always sit that low?

Second... Um... why the tire thing?

Third - What is that banner of smiley faces across the windshield?

He's on coils, lowered to the max.

To be that low, he HAS to have stretched tires, or they'll be cut up by the fender. They rub slightly, but no sidewall rash. Those are Nissan 350Z Touring wheels, 18x8 in the front, 18x8.5 in the rear.

That's not a banner, that's his mirror. It extends across the whole top of the windshield, I've sat in the car before, NO blindspots! ;)

He goes through skid plates. ;) the one in the album, that was his second skid plate. :bacon:

IIRC, he's got 18K on the coilover setup he has. It's one thing to see these stanced cars online, but actually seeing one in person, seeing it drive, and actually drive the car hard, and it takes it? I have a bit of newfound respect for the style. Would I ever do this to anycar? HELL NO. :D

Did you figure out his plate? :lol2:

Cool. :P What Kia was that?? :lol2:

The wheels are gay but after I was jumping around forums and reading about the whole Form>Function crap. People actually spend a TON of money to actually be functional at that stance. Which begs the question; Function<Form? lol

  • Author

I know. :lol2: but that's the motto with them. Kevin's Mazda3 really just makes me scratch my head though. Driving on a daily basis like how he is, and the tires aren't slashed up from being tucked so much...well, shit. Who am I to judge?

I'll never stretch my own car's tires, though. Evar. :P

Oh, yeah I'll never do it either but I've never really been one to judge unless it looks like ass lol

All i'm gonna say is ... that would last about 10 minutes on a K-bec road.

1. raise the car up if being that low makes you dangerously/retardedly stretch your tires out

2. why on earth would you have larger rear rims (width) with a FWD car...EVER. IMO rice.

That's kinda the whole idea behind the look, so you CAN be that low ALL the time. Like I said, it's wacky as all hell, yet he's DD'd it all summer with no tire issues. *shrug*

They're 350Z staggered wheels, it's what he wanted.

Nice pics

right BUT ive heard you even preach about the unsafeness of the stretch tire bs fad out there. If you cant get that low without it, then that is beyond how low you are supposed to be.

It is pretty unsafe, but after rolling with him, and the beat up roads of RT 27, hell, even the ripped up sections of road, and the wheels were fine...I dunno how they stay together.

Do I still say it's a good idea? No.

I've seen some pretty beautiful looking cars on stanceworks. I think it's a neat concept but I wouldn't put the money/time into it because it just wouldn't be functional enough for me. I love the way my car looks, and despite how gorgeous I think some of these ridiculously (and meticulously) stanced cars are, lightly modified stock is the look I like best.

I really like your pictures! All of these beautiful cars and beautiful pictures (here and all over this forum) are making me get the photography bug again... I haven't had it in awhile! Keep it up, I need the inspiration! :P
