  1. i had the dunkin donuts "you kin do it" on there but i like it clean. id rock a red foreverpontiac sticker if someone gave me one
  2. STOP! go get some GREEN scotchbrite pads and SCRUB all of the panels. only scrub where you want the paint to stick. when you are finished there should be a consistent dull surface, no shinyness. if its a textured panel, make sure you scrub enough to get in between the bumps. after this its good to use adhesion promoter, and then krylon fusion. after cleaning of course... SEM also makes good interior paints. heard GREAT things about them
  3. naw thats a real intercooler. just forgot to hook it up lol. believe me guys this isnt that bad, at least its not hooked up to the engine with the intake filter on the end of it. IVE SEEN IT!!! he actually tried to tell me that it cooled the incoming air even tho it wasnt turbo....
  4. that sucks! i added an extra charge wire (same size as stock, so im double now) from my alt to my batt and i now get a tasty 14.6 volts at idle with a stock alternator. optima is good but not necessary unless you are relocating it inside the car where a sealed cell batt is needed. id just find a cheapo with a good warranty and good numbers. a cap is really just another small battery, so you dont have to get a fancy one. you can use a sealed cell out of a jump-start box, or even a 12v lawnmower battery. the best thing you can do is upgrade your wiring and go from there. you dont need to just go out and buy every expensive part because people say you need it for a good system. ive seen plenty of good systems with stock alts, stock batteries, and no caps heres a tip, for HIGH quality stereo power cable, go find a BMW in the junkyard, almost all new ones have trunk mounted batteries and they use big high strand count wire. find a car that already has the seats out to make it easier, and you will need to cut the rear battery connector and pull into the cabin. the front doesnt need to be cut, it will pull thru.
  5. well i have been off here a while, i took a trip down to greenville. the sunchicken did quite well, but i left the girlfriend in the car with the keys when i shouldnt have. long story short, she couldnt find reverse so she found drive, as well as a cement wall. my nice front end job got fairly smashed, so i had to redo the bumper as well as the headlight bracket. its definatly not as straight as it was, but pretty decent for quick fix i think i am going to add a steel beam to the front to give some sort of protection to the front. the bumper cover just collapsed and allowed the lights to get smashed. no more real damage to the bumper other than ripping the metal mount plates loose from the cover. a few small holes and zip ties fixed that. i broke a headlight bucket, but not the headlight glass itself. i think i have a backup of that side tho. i was very impressed with the engine so far. power increase over stock is noticeable. even fully loaded i could pull fairly easily from 65-80, even UPHILL. i also discovered that she has a speed limiter. not something i knew before. dont worry it was a dark quiet highway. well not while i was there. i also forgot to mention i have a fully welded exhaust now, and i removed the fart cannon. i got stuck at 50 mph a couple weeks ago, and heard the cat rattling and making noise. then i found a small piece of cat sitting inside the tip of my rice cannon. i was sure it was clogged. i tried to unbolt it, but the first bolt broke and the second rounded off.. so just cut it off. sure enough a piece of the inside had come loose, turned sideways and jammed into the pipe. i was just going to straight pipe in between, but it was quite loud at this point. i thought i wouldnt mind obnoxious but i changed my mind when i realized how loud the droning was INSIDE the car. i try not to buy anything for this car, so i went out back and pulled out an old rusty HONDA exhaust, a 2 incher from an old grassroots motorsports challenge car i purchased a long while ago. happened to be the perfect size and fit right up. the "turbo tube" glasspack (first pic) made a huge difference without a muffler. i tried just straight piped after that but way too loud, mainly did it for giggles. then i tried the rice cannon and it was still too loud. then i tried the rusted ol magnaflow muffler from the civic exhaust and it was just right. not only that but when i used a rubber hanger from the honda on a hanger that was already attached to the muffler, it lined up almost perfectly with the pipe (see 4th pic), and also rotated perfectly to put the exit perfectly clearing the bumper. i angle cut a piece of 2.25 aluminized and shined it up with the wire wheel to make a nice looking tip and welded it to the muffler. once fully welded i shook the exhaust around and discovered it was swaying to and fro and would contact the body, so i used the finger brake to bend up a small tab so i could weld the factory muffler hanger to the muffler. now its good and snug, and looks almost stock, altho a bit louder and much more free flowing. i will use dad's HD cam and get yall an audio clip. here are the pics for now i didnt get a chance to install the rear shocks i got for her. i took the monroe sensatracs from my dad's suburban with the helper springs and checked them against the sunbird's. length is very close, and the upper shock mount is a rod in bushing style vs the suburban's bolt thru eyelet style. with some "imagineering" i came up with a 2x2 square tube mount that will allow me to simply bolt these other shocks on. after that i only have to worry about ride height. at this point i have no clue if these helper springs will be too much, but if they pick up the back end too much i'll have to cut some coils. if they dont give me the spring rate im looking for, i may install some coilover sleeves and springs and eliminate the stock spring altogether, altho some stiffening would probably be necessary at that point since all the weight would be moved to the upper and lower shock mount. it may just be too much force for that so i am hoping these helper springs are just right. heres a pic of them. they werent on the suburban long but they were blown, so monroe sent me new ones. they were quite helpful, and while i wouldn't have gotten monroe in the past, i might just get them again for their warranty and customer service. since i didnt get a chance to install the shocks, the ass end was quite saggy on the way down even tho it was not that full. since i removed the front bumper guts, the front end started pointing at the sky. while i was at the junkyard, i scored some awesome spring clamps for free. installing them and clamping them all the way down gave me the perfect drop up front. that also helped with the ass end not sagging quite so much. here are pics of it with the trunk full and the new clamps.
  6. well yeah theres ways around everything, but it would cut back definatley
  7. wow your car is that new and has leaky sunroof problems???
  8. there are jobs, people just dont want to lower their standards. someone who is an artsy fartsy person would probably scoff at a walmart greeter job, but a job is a job. GO GET ONE LAZY B**** i think monthly drug testing should be mandatory for anyone getting help from government programs like this and welfare. i dont care if you use drugs, but if you do, dont suck off the government teat!!
  9. not really looking to spend any money, but if anyone has any wheels with or without tires in 5x100 that isnt steelies, id be interested in buying (cheap) or trading something (parts, labor, first born) for something that would look decent on my sunchicken. 15's or higher only. road rash and curbing is ok, as long as not TERRIBLE damage. just let me know if you got anything. located just north of HICKORY NC
  10. like most concepts, cool but never brought to market... and retarded for not doing so
  11. this is what i will do with the sunbird body after the motor goes kaput. after i put all this work into the interior and body im sure the motor will go, and since i am refusing to do a "swap" ill just unbolt all the subframe and suspension and set it on a blazer frame
  12. excessive, but CORRECT. i cant believe a POLICE OFFICER died in a toyota because it sped out of control. isnt he supposed to have HIGH SPEED TRAINING?? and know how to cut off a freakin car? duhhhh....
  13. family is family, but enough is enough! i have always tried to help out my family any way i could. they put me thru college and i love them for it... but when it came time to work on cars, they didnt want to listen to me about what needed fixing, or what was wrong. then when those cars broke down, they didnt want to listen to my opinion on the car they were about to buy. my parents were looking fora truck after my grandma's truck got totalled by a speeding suburban. hers was a 92 v6 chevy. perfect vehicle. would tow as well as a shitty old 350 chevy with a 3 speed, and get better mileage. so what do they go look at? a 77 pickup with 350 and 3 speed. while the body looks really good, the tires are bald and there is a big scratch down the side. now supposedly the engine+trans was rebuilt 10k miles ago.... yet when they start it up it smokes blue. dad drives it and thinks its fast, so he liked it. they paid 2500!!! i was like thats REDICULOUS! with BALD TIRES!!! yeah so they realized it gets 8 mpg, worse than my dad's old 454 suburban, and it leaks AND burns oil like hell. rebuilt my ass. well the trans does feel rebuild but its still a 3 speed. now it sits around like a storage unit, keeping my pool table dry until i have a place to set it up. i bitched sooo much when they were looking at the truck that they actually said shutup or you're walking home. WTF? they send me to college for mechanics, and then IGNORE ME COMPLETELY when it comes to anything automotive. my dad also has the habit of liking bad mechanics. some read my story bout the runaway roadmaster, from his last mechanic putting the throttle cable bracket on the wrong hole. he loved that guy but we moved. now he loves this local guy, who honestly is only good for mounting tires... and i even dont really trust him for that... he found nothing at all wrong with the chevy truck that gets 8mpg and has a strange whistle from the carb... (intake leak maybe??) and also when we took my old honda to get an alignment, he tried to charge 50 bucks even tho they forgot to inform me that one of the trailing arms was seriously bent and a correct alignment was IMPOSSIBLE. anyway, i would keep helping them but they refuse to listen, so i just gave up. i let them make their own blunders now and just work on my own stuff. if something breaks ill help them get it somewhere, or if its simple ill fix it, but otherwise its THEIR problem. if they had listened to me they wouldnt have the crap car to begin with!!
  14. ringo i think he was talking about the pontiac. he said headlights not taillights and yeah that accord is not bad at all. the trunk isnt supposed to match its carbon fiber. honda tried to hard on these new ones because EVERYONE is trying too hard on their styling. i think retro is the way to go like the camaro and yeah that guy in the VW was STUPID he broke his oil pan gettin into a parking lot, and drove it again AFTER he got a ticket. and he wonders why it got towed....
  15. i had the accelerator stick in my 96 buick roadmaster once. the mechanic who last worked on the cruise control had bolted the throttle cable bracket to the wrong hole, so when i stomped the throttle to go around some jerk that pulled in front of me and slowed down on an empty two lane, it stuck wide open. the LT1 pulled me to 110 VERY fast, but is electronically limited. i was standing on the brakes with both feet and pulling on the steering wheel with both hands and STILL going 100 mph. i didnt cut the car off because i would have been stuck on a dark stretch of road with no tools, so i continued at an insane rate of speed toward the next patch of civilization. as i approached the intersection, i threw on my hazards, popped the trans in neutral and cut the ign. i ALMOST coasted thru the intersection when some asshole going the opposite way decided to run the yellow almost red light even tho my 18 foot white+ woody wagon with its flashers on was making a left in front of him. i had to stop to let him go around... but luckily i was on a slight incline still so after about 30 seconds i rolled the rest of the way thru the intersection and into a parking lot. if it had been any amount of uphill i would have been SCREWED!!! mom brought my hand tools and i had the problem corrected in minutes, but i swore id never take my car to a mechanic ever again
  16. glad my english skillz went to some good use. hope it brings tons of members for yall. do i get a free pontiac sticker now? lol
  17. i no how to drive at hi speeds but i don no how to spell. im sorry but its hard to have an intellectual debate with someone who doesnt bother with punctuation or correct spellings of homonyms. i dont care if you can handle an aircraft carrier doing 85 mph, it doesnt give you the right to endanger innocent people who never asked to be put on your personal race course we like to call PUBLIC ROADS i never said it was me that took out the two year old, and i never even said that the person who hit them was street racing. the area was NOT where a bunch of kids street race, it was a densely populated urban area. it was not determined whether the person was racing or just plain speeding. either way it was a tragic death that could have been avoided. the little old 73 year old grandmother that was killed? yeah that was also NOT in a "street racing" area. thats because there is no such thing as a STREET RACING AREA just because you are near a drag strip doesnt mean thats where kids street race KIDS STREET RACE ON PUBLIC ROADS. ITS THE DEFINITION OF STREET RACING. THEY DO IT WHERE MY GRANDMOTHER DRIVES AND WHERE YOU DRIVE AND ONE DAY YOUR KID WILL DRIVE i only hope that the people that drive around your five year old have more common sense than you. im sorry if thats "getting too personal" guys but if you say that street racing is ok just because you "no how to drive reel guud" then you ASKED FOR IT
  18. notice the alero's wing is slightly tilted. obviously he is a circle track racer....
  19. thats not rice! thats just nice!! rice would be with a fart cannon, big aluminum wing, WAYYY more stickers, and shinier wheels. murdered out is never rice, unless you add all those things. looks great!
  20. to continue from the other thread " (illegal street racing)wow not that bad? so its ok if i come plow my car into your grandmother driving home from church and kill her? jesus man do you watch the news like EVER? i dont give a shit if you kill yourselves, i really dont. but they are called PUBLIC roads. that means EVERYONE is on them. recently, a car full of girls were racing some @$$hole in an eclipse. none of the racers were killed, but the driver of the eclipse managed to nail a 73 year old woman and kill her while she was on her way home from church. that was someone's grandmother. could have been yours, could have been mine. THINK ABOUT THAT... DO YOU LOVE YOUR GRANDMA?? maybe you need to watch someone you care about decapitated before you care. then maybe your thick head will absorb reality. theres no reset button in real life sorry for jumping on ya, but where i live there are a lot of stupid kids who think they can drive and go fast on public roads. i personally have almost been killed by a few of them. if i could have, i would have chased them down and shot them in the face, no one gets to risk my life but me." 00grandam15- you callin me punk kid ??? and i cant drive ? if you learn to watch cars around you its not a problem learn basic driving skills and than come tell me how bad it is i dont need you tellin me all this shit no duh it causes wrecks but you need to back off of me i didnt say punk once, i said stupid kids. what about "there are stupid kids around where i live" made you think i was talking about YOU? and i NEVER said anything about you being able to drive or not. "if you learn to watch cars around you its not a problem"? right because no one else on the road ever makes mistakes either... so they would never accidently cut you off in the middle of your street race and make you swerve and take out a family of four... learn basic driving skills and come tell you? im 23 and been driving since 15, owned or driven at least 10 different cars, and race autocross with my brother who is a LICENCED RACE INSTRUCTOR. i think i got driving skills just fine, but that STILL doesnt qualify me to race on the street... no, its doesnt just "cause wrecks" it gets people killed. YOU CAN NOT DETERMINE WHAT EVERY OTHER DRIVER ON THE ROAD IS DOING OR GOING TO DO. you simply driving fast around them could cause them to freak out and do something stupid, possibly causing you, the guy you're racing, or someone else to wreck and possibly get injured or DIE. it doesnt matter HOW good a driver YOU are. you could be mario f*cking andretti but it only takes one mistake, not just from you but from the OTHER person on the road, to cause a huge accident. people have accidents every day that DONT involve street racing. so what do you think cars going twice the speed limit does? it DOUBLES the chance of an accident, if not a more exponential increase. i dont care WHAT you say, its SIMPLY MATH! go find a dark deserted highway if you're gonna do it. and for the love of god dont brag about it you just look stupid <- that isnt directed at anyone, its directed at everyone. i had to help one of my very best friends bury his two year old daughter who was killed in a car wreck. the mother of the child was driving slowly minding her own business. the car that T boned her pushed the door in so far it broke her skull open. she was still alive but died at the scene. if other car had been doing the speed limit, it possibly could have been avoided. YOU GO BURY A TWO YEAR OLD GIRL THAT YOU HAD PLAYED WITH TWO DAYS PRIOR AND YOU COME TELL ME HOW "not so bad" IT IS. alright im really done arguing now because there is simply nothing else to discuss. my arguement is 100% infallible. if you try to argue with me any further, then you are saying to everyone here that you think its OK to kill anyone's grandmother and/or 2 year old little girl. simple as that you arent god, or jesus, or allah, or whatever omniscient being you worship , you dont know what will happen even as much as you might "watch the cars around you" but if you keep it on the track you know you are at least in a controlled environment WHERE ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU ARE THERE VOLUNTARILY!!!!

  22. anyone seen the four rotor rx7 drag vid? its red... and with a more impressive launch!
  23. ill try to have something for ya by tomorrow. im halfway decent with the writing and such
  24. well my girlfriend's step brother drove this POS red sedan that he absoloutly beat the crap out of. he would be at either 100% gas or 100% brake almost all the time. he also would smoke it out in open parking lots (dont know how he didnt get caught) so it had a slight funk to it, as well as a few crumbs i still need to vacuum out!! he went to go live with his grandparents and left the car there at her house, mainly because it began this problem of not turning over at all. i worked on it and put a solenoid on which seemed to fix it. later i would replace the starter the GF drove it away from her house one day when her mom decided to kick her out (she did that fairly often, but never serious) with NO licence and NO registration and NO insurance and exprired tags. luckily she made it to her friends apartment without getting caught, but alas the starter quit again. it sat there a few weeks and should have already been towed by the apartment complex... but luckily someone had been lazy. my 160 dollar red top optima battery was still in it so i paid someone to go pick it up and hold on to it for a while. i had tried to get it towed to her house, but she was broken up with me and had abandoned the car, along with some of her clothes and my battery. she refused to work with me so i said F-it, its mine now. we got back together, and i recently fixed it. its now a beater i dont have to worry about scratching or breaking, if it dies ill part it and scrap it or bolt the body to a 4x4 frame and have a 4wd sunchicken. it only cost me parts and labor. i cant count how many hours i worked on it, which would end up being alot of money, but luckily the starter was only 50 bucks, and i only put about 150-200 dollars in maintenance parts in it. im pretty happy with the result. im just glad my wrenching skills can bring even the biggest POS back to life, and even make for a fun ride. she really scoots now! even with a blown head gasket! i think it is anyway, coolant keeps dissappearing... but it never overheats.... still not sure why
