  1. yeah i like the pic, except the black guy in the back that looks LOST haha for a min i was gonna ask if that was you lol jk sorry to be mean, but if he were more professional he would have waited for that guy to get out of the shot, or simply asked him to
  2. thanks killiger. shit, i got more comments when i had the fart cannon. now that i put a real exhaust on my car, no one says anything you guys suck i got burned pretty good welding that thing i want more kudos! LOL
  3. if you dont want to spend the 25 dollars, just go to the auto parts store and find the manual for your car thats ALREADY OUT OF THE PLASTIC. if there isnt one already open, if you ask real nice, usually the guy behind the counter will remove the plastic for you if you want to look in the book. if he doesnt want to remove the plastic, use this EXACT line: "i want a repair manual for my car, but haynes manuals sometimes leave out important sections and claim they should only be repaired by the dealer. before i buy it i want to make sure it covers all of the info i need" then go to the body section in the book. and memorize how to remove all the panels. put the book back on the shelf and walk out the door more knowledgeable about your car
  4. for the love of GOD dont rebuild a 305 v8. THERE IS NO POINT. a 350 weighs pretty much the same and actually MAKES POWA!! ok guy, let me throw some wisdom atcha first off, i applaud your want to build SIMPLY an engine. it shows you actually want to learn engine building SPECIFICALLY instead of hey what car can i buy and bolt on lots of cool parts that being said however, you are better off buying a whole car. reason being, its much harder to run, test, and possibly sell a motor that is by itself. unless you plan on building a stand that you can run the motor on, this will be the case. find a local goodwill auction. they sell non-runner cars for very cheap, and sometimes you will find a running car that is simply not firing on one cyl that just needs a fuel injector or spark plug wire. find the one that you would like to rebuild with the worst engine condition and pick it up for cheaper than the rest! or iwanna or craigslist! this is probably your best bet. find a classic with a REAL v8. or even better, find a project where someone has done everything BUT the engine. if you are gonna get a ford, it better be something cool like a flathead v8. the regular old ford v8's are mostly not worth building compared to a chevy v8. horsepower TV built similar SBC 350 chevy and 351 ford engines using the same type aftermarket parts and the EXACT same carb. they also did this with chevy 454 and ford 460 big blocks, same procedure. every time the chevy came out on top for HP and TQ. and as far as reliability, chevy will win every time. ford 5.0 engines were plagued with thin block castings for MANY years. not something you want when you're building something to romp on.... chevy parts are also MUCH cheaper. rebuildable blocks can be had for cheap, parts interchange for decades, therefore they are more plentiful and cheaper. used aluminum intakes for chevys can be found online for as low as 20 dollars sometimes! for a FUN and EASY first engine build an old chevy v8 is the way to go. hell i've got a rebuildable SBC 350 from a pickup (which means stonger 4bolt mains) that i'd give ya for 150. (ive seen 4 bolt main cores go for 300) for my engine building class in college, i wanted to first do a honda because i had them, i liked them, and they were smaller and cheaper than the v8's since 4 less cyl. however, the teachers at my school had BANNED honda engines from rebuild class because of a few morons who pretty much stumped their teachers with STRANGE honda issues, mainly due to the fact that they didnt just want to build their engine, they were also attempting to swap auto-manual, and do other things like use different computers and TB's and so on and so forth, bringing up issues that old farts at our school did not want to touch my parents had bought an old ford two door something or another because it was cool, old and cheap. it was sitting on a 77 chevelle frame with some old rusty two barrel v8. they purchased a proper ford X frame to set the ford on, and GAVE me the chevelle frame and engine. I BITCHED LIKE HELL because they gave me a solid lump of RUST. i actually drove it into school as a rolling frame with about 5 HP. thats Human Powers, not horse little did i know, they just gave me chevy's SECOND BIGGEST smallblock. second to the one and only LS7 427 thats right, they gave me a 400 SBC it was not, however, all smiles after that. this block had been thru hell and back. one of my teachers actually told me my engine measurements were wrong and made me go back and remeasure. when i came back with the exact same numbers he came out to look at my engine and measure himself. when he found the same measurements, he couldnt believe it and could not explain how the wear was different amounts in DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. the block needed line boring, cam AND crank, cyl bored .20 over, and the crank turned 10/10. the motor was seized until the block was mostly disassembled of its rotating assembly. the crank, main bearing caps, connecting rods, heads, and valves were the only things reused, all of which were reworked and refurbished. in the end it had an edelbrock aluminum intake and holley carb, and some flowtech headers... a wild ass cam with rhodes anti-pump up lifters to keep it in check... and enough chrome to kill a horse... and what a result. every classroom emptied into the main bays when i started up my 400. everyone figured they were starting up the hooters pro cup car, but alas it was ME. it revved fast as hell like a motorcycle... well like four motorcycles actually. one of the most beautiful sounds ive ever heard. i got a B for that class, i didnt get an A because he said "open headers is considered an exhaust leak"
  5. you need to stop trying being a smartass when you are asking other people for info. this doesnt even make any sense! the only thing i got out of it was that you wanted to be a smartass.
  6. thats pretty badass and looks to be well done. i like the color change JUST on the bonnet bulge. kinda makes it looks like the heat from the engine changed the color kinda like titanium exhaust tips
  7. glad to see you have your priorities straight for the price of those wheels im SURE you could afford that moped... okim shutting up now i swear
  8. dude, go get a moped. you can drive one with a suspended licence. does it suck? yes. is it alternate LEGAL transportation? YES like he said, driving is a privilege, NOT a right!
  9. ok so you definately have more experience with cars than most people who scream "i hate you honda ricers" but obviously you have worked on and driven many more domestics than imports. i am a couple inches taller than you, but im pretty damn skinny, and i havent had any trouble fitting in imports. my CRX can fit a person over 6ft. you are right about the scion pedals tho. im a size 12 and my foot got stuck trying to drive one. that being said, a scion is a new toyoda which i already said i dont like i agree about early integras, but i dont know where you are getting the lack of quality thing from. in my 94 sunbird, GM blindly screwed self drilling screws directly into the metal to attach interior panels. i dont know how long it took to get all the screws back in just because i had to pretty much guess where the holes were. interior panels in hondas have pre cut holes for plastic inserts for all the interior screws, and everything always lines right back up after you take it apart. my sunbird took much massaging to get all the panels back in, and any pop in panels were still LOOSE. also i dont see how you say the bolts are substandard metal. yes honda uses 10mm bolts for TONS of things, but they are NOT substandard metal!! even the tiny 10mm bolts are GRADE 8 and STRONG AS HELL. i havent seen any of those bolts actually rust. there are some bolts on hondas that do, such as exhaust bolts (which rust on every make of car) hondas dont rust nearly as fast as some other japanese makes and even SOME american cars. i will admit they are a tad thin and usually end up with clogged sunroof drains and rusty rear fender flares, but EVERYTHING rusts so easily is an over-exaggeration or you are in the north where everything rusts. and the wires arent great, but ive seen plenty of honda wiring harnesses that held up mUCH better than some GM and other american make's engine bay harnesses. a CRX is a go cart with a roof AND DOORS but yeah its basically a little tin can with a pocket rocket motor. you can try and talk crap about its little 1.5, but that motor is a badass little engine that in stock form allowed the CRX to beat the v6 fiero. there is one member of the CRX forums with a boosted ew d15 pushing 230 hp and over 230 ft lbs of torque. you cant apply a couple of ricer exhausts to EVERY import. its the choice of the owner to put a fart can on it which as i previously stated, i normally see on domestics more than imports. i doubt you started hating these cars when you were six, but if you did then i gotta say you need anger management... thats too young to start hatin!!!
  10. hey now, thems fightin words you better at least be talking about a 92+ civic those are plenty gay
  11. no one here has tried to tell you that you are a bad person, or that we hate you. all the comments on here, despite their harshness, were meant to have a positive effect on you. we only want you to do better and learn from these mistakes... which by your responses you HAVENT. you should be glad that you ARENT on another forum, because any other one i know of would have ripped into you so bad that you would be the new wenzelled. open you eyes and realize that you put yourself in this situation. like someone else said you would have gotten your car fixed for free when that guy rear ended you.. had you not raced and lost your license, and been driving again illegally. dont put yourself in the position to get in trouble again, because murphy NEVER sleeps. i mean NEVER!!! ask me how i know!!!
  12. i pulled the interior out to install amp wiring, as well as get the headliner out so i could try and reattach the fabric that was falling down everywhere. i ended up getting a new piece of fabric since the factory piece was cut exactly to fit, but was shrinking. i got a darker black in almost the exact same material at hobby lobby and got mom to help me put it in. of course i used a can of spray fabric adhesive that was probably too old, and almost empty... so the next day after installed it was sagging again. grrr.. i hate GM headliners... also while i was running amp power wires, i decided to make a big power access block inside the B pillar. i was using shorter pieces of amp wiring, and one length made it exactly that far, so i put in my own custom insulated block, and ran wires off it for an overhead dome light override switch, radio, extra 12v accessory plug on the last page, and a decently big one for my power inverter. i hate it when i go to plug something in and i dont have enough cord, so i used a pair of pretty long amp power wires that were too small a gauge for anything other than a mids amp. i ran the wires thru the hole in the carpet for the seat belt notification plug, putting it right under my driver seat. i wired up my little coleman inverter but then realized that the ends had quick screw down clamps, and i can remove them and use them as jumper cables! in fact i used them this way in my trip to greenville. they had no problem cranking the other car right up. MORE UPDATES ABOUT STEREO TO COME!!!
  13. then your best bet is to get quality wiring. that will help before all else. upgrade your main wires. sometimes its easiest to leave the factory wires and just add one on top. batt pos to starter batt pos to alternator batt neg to body ground batt neg to engine ground (near your alt is good) you shouldnt have too much of a dimming problem after that. plus its cheaper to upgrade your wiring than buy a capacitor. just go to the junkyard and grab you some extra speaker wiring cables and big battery cables (like from said BMW)
  14. UPDATED pictures FIXED!! IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF AN OFFROAD OR JEEP FORUM, PLEASE LINK ME!!!
  15. now the street racing thread got locked before i got a chance to say anything, and i didnt really need to say anything since everyone here pretty much nailed exactly what needed to be said... but seriously man WTF? you sit there and say street racing is ok as long as you "watch other cars around you" apparently you didnt watch for that COP car around you when you decided to RACE in a car that was not built or designed to be RACED. I'm not saying you cant race a grandam, obviously you did. you can race anything that moves and i wont argue that you can, but i will say that its mighty STUPID. you're better off racing riding lawn mowers. probably safer and more exciting then you get FLAMED for posting pictures of yourself literally breaking the law driving home on a suspended license. maybe you dont know it, but with technology jumping in leaps and bounds, and the laws still being made by guys that are too damn old to find the on switch on their computer, and dont even know how to use "the google", there is almost no protection for you against law enforcement to procure those pics from here, or from your cell phone provider, and charging you with these crimes after the fact. now im not saying they can legally, and im not saying they will take the time to bother with your young stupid ass.... ...BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP PAINTING A TARGET ON THE SIDE OF YOURSELF!!! i learned a long while ago how to stop GETTING myself into trouble, but im 23 and im still learning how to KEEP my ass OUT of trouble. You need to STOP making these stupid decisions and DECIDE to make the right choices. that may sound STUPID and LAME... but its the TRUTH. you just have to make a conscious decision to stop doing stupid things and do the things that WILL bring you in a positive direction and things that WILL bring you closer to your child, instead of things that will FURTHER the distance you from your offspring. kids need their parents. you need to wisen up so you can show YOUR child the RIGHT way, once you figure out what that is!!! it takes a lot of mistakes before you get it right, so dont beat yourself up over it... but dont ignore the lesson that is trying to be taught. there is always a lesson, whether its someone trying to teach you, or life is trying to teach you, if you didnt learn anything from it your probably were wasting your time
  16. Today we have for sale a rear windscreen and cargo cover for a Jeep. The brand is BESTOP and includes instructions and even the original warranty card. Here is a picture of what you are getting This includes the cargo cover and rear plastic windscreen. it does NOT include the top that goes over the driver and passenger seats. I would rate this as "like new" condition. it is fairly clean and looks like it hasn't even been on a vehicle, but probably has, so i wont say new. no rips, tears or scratches, and no broken or missing mounts or straps. It will come in the original box, which is a little rough but still a box. here is a shot of just the rear windscreen without the cargo cover. it has a doggie door for access from the cab. PICS OF ACTUAL TOP: Everywhere look online i find these two parts for a little over 80 EACH. i am asking 140 shipped to lower 48 OBO cash, postal money order, or paypal ONLY. paypal preferred. you can message me on here but the quickest way is to email my phone @ [email protected] THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!
  17. J-body forums- i found a really nice interior in a dodge neon. will it bolt right in my cavalier or will i have to do some minor modification? thats an actual quote from an actual thread @ j-body.org
  18. i dont like newer toyotas. they took the soul out and then made them crappy and flimsy. the new GT celica is slower than my old 4door 88 accord LXI. thats fuel injected and power everything including sunroof shes a fat girl, and STILL much faster.
  19. no no no, this was an ACTUAL intercooler that someone put an air filter on the end and piped it to his engine
  20. another issue is many people base their opinions on a car that is in poor condition, or broke ON them. people do have to take into consideration the way these cars are treated. american or import, treat it badly and it will break on you. i will admit i have been in a few imports that were pretty bad. almost every time it was a BEATEN to DEATH car that never received proper maintanance. some are just crappy cars though. older nissans ring that bell... i will also admit that most american cars ive driven were older. when i say older i mean 90's and older. i know the newer ones have jumped leaps and bounds, but it took them forever and a bankruptcy to get there. i believe japanese cars have progressed much faster, and much further. none of the american cars ive driven had the steering feel i've grown to expect from a honda. zero play. a honda feels like a sharp scalpel, while a domestic feels like a dull machete. yes a CRX will beat you up a little bit, but its not a caddy. it wasnt made to float across potholes, it was made to zip around them. and in stock form, it does it beautifully. add a sway bar and bushing or two, and you are getting close to lotus handling. im sure there are american cars that handle... i just havent driven one that didnt require careful planning to get round that next bend..
  21. you dont have a repair manual for your car? they are only 25 dollars and can save your bacon more often than not! i realize youve read the painting instructions from other people, but i havent seen one person tell you about how important it is to have the surface properly prepped to make the paint stick. some people did mention about sanding but it seemed they were more sanding to get a smooth finish. the surface needs to be rough enough for the paint to stick otherwise it will come off in big nasty flakes!!! whether its a smooth or textured panel, scotchbrite pads are a must!!
  22. Tunicwriter, thank you for covering the bases. you summed it up very well, but i have to add to it a bit... since i apparently started this LOL there is one thing i really gotta ask you though. there is always two things i seem to find in common with import haters. the first is ignorance of facts, and abundance of misinformation about imports. you have obviously already proved your lack of knowledge about imports. its ok tho, because it wont be on the test. we dont expect you to know everything... but if you dont really know, its always better to keep your mouth shut and listen than talk about something like you do and say a bunch of mindless ricer hater drivel. remember, we honda enthusiasts hate ricers too. the second thing, and the one i must ask you about, is your level of experience. How old are you? How many cars have you driven total? how many domestic? how many import? how many cars have you worked on? domestic, import? how many well modded or properly built imports have you driven or ridden in? i'll of course let you answer, but ill tell you the most typical answer i get. "im 19, ive driven and wrecked 3 domestics, now driving a 4th. ive never worked on a car at all, let alone my own, and ive never even SEEN a well modded or properly built honda in my life, and wouldn't know one if it bit me on the ass." now that was me stereotyping a bit, but im not stretching the truth much if at all. most of the time i hear "hondas suck" or "imports sucK" its from young kids who have never had one, never driven one, and only been exposed to the RICER side of imports. they usually have NEVER worked on a car, but will tell you that imports are hard to work on because "thats what he heard". I myself started as one of these people. i grew up loving 16 foot long 8 foot wide chevy land yachts and hating the "stupid honda ricers" even hating hondas themselves. RIGHT UP TO THE DAY I DROVE ONE. i only had to pull it out of a parking space to instantly realize the MUCH higher quality and feel of a precisely built japanese car. you say imports are soul-less, and for the most part you are right. to have a soul, one must be human. and to be human, one must make mistakes. its what makes things interesting, things screwing up. thats why american cars are usually chock full of soul (and sitting on the side of the road) while the import soullessly clicks on like your grandmother's sewing machine. that being said, i believe my CRX to be quite soulful. you need only to rev the little 1.5 to 7000 rpm to feel its eagerness to please and its urgency to get up and go. the tires squeal only slightly while you take a 25mph corner at 65...as if to squeak out "i can't believe we're really doing this... what happened to the laws of physics???" it rotates quickly and confidently with a "point and click" attitude about where you're trying to put it, and only seems to get better the harder you push it. my 20 year old CRX has soul, and if you dont believe me, come let me take you for a ride and i guarantee you will go home with some healthy respect if you dont just come home with a new OLD CRX
  23. yeah id have to slash that shit. i dont mess with people's cars but its not right to do that to a camaro...
  24. so are there no exhaust manifolds? it looks like the collector is built into the head and the turbos bolt right on?
  25. eddie bauer trucks are good for one thing and one thing only.... to steal the seats out of at the junkyard
