Put dist back to original position w/vac adv. Then rotate the rotor/shaft to #1. Go past #1 as it will rotate back when dist is fully seated. Mark #1 on dist housing then move rotor to 1. Make sure timing mark is on pointer 1st. Might have to do this again if you try N start and it does the same. Pull the cap and if rotor is 180 off, Justa move the rotor back to #1. Should be good to go.

Justa checking. It will backfire or no power if it starts with the order reversed. Good luck.

Are you sure you have the firing order in the correct direction? Pontiac fires reverse direction from Chevy. Counterclockwise.

Thought I had all my parts for the steering column from the turnsig switch, sig cancelation parts, column parts and new wheel. Tore into it only to find they sent the wrong turnsig switch. Hope the correct one is on the way. Have a show next weekend. GTO is blocking the Bird in. -

Never got my new parts from OPG. So I put the GTO back together and finished cleaning and polishing the Sunbird. Don't have a spare minute between now and the Dream Cruise, but the rides are ready. Got past some issues with the city of Pontiac on parking. Lost the most perfect spot on the entire Dream Cruise, but sounds like we've been moved to a good spot. -

So after sitting for the last couple years, I pulled the trans on the Sunbird and took the bellhousing in to have a helicoil installed to repair the stripped out shifter fork pivot/adjuster that left me with no clutch after JUSTA installing the custom made flywheel and "accessible" clutch and pressure plate. Coil was waaay cheaper than welding and tapping and could get the coil installed same day V 2 weeks on welding. (cuttin it too close to Dream Cruise in 2 weeks) They will not guarantee the helicoil to hold. So I put a nut on the inside where all the pressure is and JB welded the sucker in place. That, with the new helicoil I've doubled the thead contact and eliminated any chance of this pushing out again. While waiting for the JB to dry enough for a 2nd coat, I pulled the steering wheel on the GTO to find the correct parts needed to replace the turnsig activator and new switch including the wiring harness. It works, but you have to manually turn off after completing a turn. I did not realize how bad it was busted up and even the horn wire was missing. LMAO Horn was never a priority and shuffled to the back burner. It will be next on my list now that I'll have a working setup. Always wondered and forgot what it went to when I started rewiring the car the winter after I got it. Also ordered the new veneer for the dash so I can stain it myself and match the console that was installed last year and the rest of the freakin AWESOME interior upgrades that will soon be happening. I've tried to put the interior back together stock (or period correct mods like my Grant steering wheel) But a chance has come up to display some work by a MASTER craftsman!!!! What has been completed so far has blown my mind. -
Amazing....Looks in great shape overall. Good Luck N have fun with it.

Good start, nice project car!

Surely caught my eye and JUSTA for the rarity, drew me in like a bug. Wish I had more shots. He had company info in the windows, but I was trying to keep my camera dry. I have seen this car many times over the years, never spoke to the owner.

Sorry to say, it was a wash out. With my roads all mudd and rain all morning I left my cars home. Bought an entry for the GTO anyway to help support their charity and help cover their cost to put on the show. Bakers is an awesome place to hold a show. Stayed til about 11am and it was still raining. There were about 30 cars that braved the weather and they were hoping for more as the weather broke.
