I'll live but I can't pick up my 1 year old. How do you tell a 1 year old that you want to hold him but can't?

This is a temporary situation as a result of the accident, right? I expect it makes you feel pretty low right about now to not be able to hold him. However, the bright side is you and he are still together to enjoy more days as father and son, regardless.
