For the last fifteen years, Chuck and Lance Mallett of Mallett Cars have been taking some of GM’s highest performing cars, and turning them into the most monstrous creations ever to roam the Earth. Countless Corvettes, Camaros, CTS-V’s, and even Escalades have gone under the knife at their Northeast Ohio tuning shop.

This thing looks mean from every angle.

Recently, they have expanded their product lineup to that of GM’s Kappa cars; the Sky and Solstice. For the past several years, we’ve seen LS-series engines of all varieties swapped into the light, sporty drop tops, and we have been salivating at the mouth since.

But the Mallet team wan’t happy with a simple engine swap into the convertibles, so they are now focusing due attention to the departed Solstice coupe; a slightly heavier but far more rigid platform in which to build the perfect streetable road racer.

We found out about their latest creation, dubbed “The Pitbull,” courtesy of The Smoking Tire. From the picture, it’s clear that Mallet is taking the Solstice places it has never gone before. The guys at Mallet’s shop start with ripping out the factory four cylinder engine, and replacing it with a 454ci. LS7 that delivers 750hp and 12.7:1 compression. (Seriously.), and back the potent powerplant with the tried and true Tremec T56. With a 2,600 pound curb weight, it’s 800 pounds less than a Corvette ZR1. So if you do the math, you can quickly see that this car is no joke.

But don’t think for a second that these guys swapped in a hot motor, threw on a few “Mallett” badges and called it a day. No, sir. This car comes complete with unique adjustable coil-over suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and one-off Mallett wheels. The Pontiac has also been lowered and widened courtesy of a complete body kit that features a functional scoop on it’s clamshell hood. Our favorite part, however, is the C6-inspired center exhaust.

As of his writing, the Pit Bull Solstice is still being fine tuned, but we do expect to get a firsthand glimpse of it at this year’s SEMA show.
