Memorial Bill-Bo-Gary Cruise In - St Albans WV

Lucy and I traveled to St. Albans WV, It took 8 hours and over 450 miles to West "By God" Virginia. I was planning to do the Head of the Dragin on SW WV but I realized I didn't have time on Friday or Saturday to do it. So I will have to leave it for another day. Sigh....it would have been nice. At least I got to sleep in today before the show.

This car show is a memorial to three guys here in St Albans. I knew two of them. Bill Muck owned a one-of-none '64 Tempest HO and a Mecham TA. Bo McClure was a Ford guy with a '40 Ford. Gary Davis was a local pedal car collector and restorer. All three guys died in the past year.

I was asked to bring Lucy down because Bill, Bo, and my other buddy Jim Winter came to the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2014 or 2015. I drove them down Woodward in Lucy with the top down and then took them to the old Pontiac HQ complex - where I worked for nearly 10 years.

Bill's family gave me Bill's copy of late John Sawruk's GT-37 picture that the late Eric White drew up as a cancer fund raiser for John. John was the official Pontiac historian until his death in 2008. Bill, Bo, and Jim stayed with John's wife, Marge, when they came to Woodward.

This '72 Olds Cutlass Supreme is owned by my buddy Rusty, a retired Charleston police captain. He is a mutual friend of mine and Dual Quad Pete. Pete stays with Rusty when he in in WV.

Pumpkin Spice Mustang? She's ready for Halloween!

This guy and I had a long chat. I talked about the Pontiac calendar from FP. He sounded interested when I told him Lucy was in the calendar. So I talked us up and hopefully we can get another calendar sale (you're welcome Ringo!).

This Fairlane and '40 Ford belonged to Bo McClure.

This is Bill Muck's Mecham TA. Bill's infamous '64 421 HO-powered one-of-none Tempest was sold and is now in Oklahoma City. That sale was pre-arranged by Bill even before his death.

This Mercury Comet is now owned by my buddy Larry. He just got it. It has been in a warehouse for the last 25 years. Larry tells me that the silver air cleaner with the chrome lid is pure Ford unobtainuim. Other than a little paint checking and some discoloration in the back seat, this car looks really good. It is completely unrestored.

Here are some of Gary's pedal cars. The DJ is my buddy Jim - owner of Hot Rod Grille Productions!

Lucy and I won an award, I got the Long Haul (longest distance) Award. I also won the 50/50 raffle. Cost me $20 in tickets, won $100. So I have some gas money to get home with.

This quilt was raffled off for the Nitro Food Bank. These are T-shirts from Bill's collection and turned into a fantastic quilt. My wife did something similar with my son's travel baseball shirts. It is a nice way to re-cycle old T-shirts.

On the way down, I always pass by this place next to US 35 in Ohio. This guy use to have a lot of old classic tetanus lying out. The last few years I have seen next to no classic American tin and mostly Asian or import models. This year is no exception. Damn.

Yeah, probably a Javelin. I think the Javelin's had that type front fender stripping. Sill fairly rare today.
