Pontiacs at Car Shows in Maryland

Frosty,

I think Admiral Pontiac was located on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. There were about 10 total car dealers on both north and south bound lanes for about a 5 mile stretch. We called it Car Dealer Alley...lol...time frame about the 1970's to about 2000. Of course, Admiral Pontiac is long gone and there are only about 5 Dealers left. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. Glen Burnie has a Historical page on Facebook. I can check there to see if pictures of Admiral Pontiac shows up any where...but can't promise anything. If I do manage to find any, I'll post them for you and let you know.

Frosty,

I did manage to find a video of Admiral Pontiac circa 1987. Some guy running around a bunch of Pontiacs that they had for sale in an Admiral's uniform....lol. Took a screen shot of it (file attached). It's not very clear. There is also a key chain and business card for Admiral Pontiac for sale on eBay, if memorabilia is your thing. There was also a Baltimore Sun article about them on the internet. I couldn't read the full article since I'm not a subscriber and Pop-ups obscured the text...lol. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

This is very cool Rick! Thank you so very much.

Coincidently, this just showed up on eBay. Should I buy it for $40? Seems a little pricey to me for what it is. What are your guys' thoughts?

I put in a bid, haggling with seller at the moment. I think $40 is too much.

That’s the way 👍👍👍👍👍

Nothing better than finding that perfect number that makes you feel like you got a good deal 👍👍

I bought it. $29 plus shipping.

Attended the Asphalt Angels Summer Sizzler Car Show on July 20, 2025 with about 200 cars in attendance. Out of those, 6 beautiful Pontiacs were represented. They got the name for the show perfect, as it was an extremely hot day in Bowie Maryland. I have gotten so that I am having trouble getting around to take pictures...and the heat doesn't help...lol. So all credit of the pictures goes to Ken Visser. I think two Pontiacs took awards: the 1966 and 1964 GTOs. Any rate, enjoy the photos.

You were about 20 minutes from my house. Sorry we missed each other as we were at Norwalk that weekend.

Any chance you are going to Das Awkscht Fescht in Macungie, this coming weekend? Again about 20 minutes from my house, but the other direction. I will be there Saturday and Sunday.

Tim,

Didn't realize you were that close to me...lol. I'm not planning on going to Das Awkscht Fescht in Mancungie. Quite honestly, never heard about it. I'm planning on doing either St Stephens AME Car Show in Elkridge Maryland or the Auto Stream Car Show in Reisterstown Maryland this Saturday. Then on to either the Summer Fiesta Car Show at the Greene Turtle in Westminster Maryland or Hammersla's Car Show in Hanover Pennsylvania on Sunday August 3rd. It's always a tough decision deciding which Car Show to attend....lol. If you are really about 20 minutes away from me, then I'll invite you to attend Street Survivors Friday Night Cruise-In at the Tractor Supply parking lot off of Crain Highway in Glen Burnie Maryland: every Friday 5-8PM.

Hopefully, one of these days, we'll catch each other at a car show or Cruise-In.

To Frosty,

It's always fun to score vintage Pontiac memorabilia. Really glad you got the Admiral Pontiac key chain. So cool to be able to tie memorabilia back to the car you own. And lookie what I just scored off of eBay...lol. I have a bunch of memorabilia representing the 1960 Pontiac logo. This, by far, is the coolest piece I've ever found.

If anyone is looking for the extremely rare Factory Rubber floor mats for their 1960 Pontiac, there is a green set currently on eBay for $350.00 or best offer. This style/(logo) mats were offered from the Factory for one year only for the 1960 Pontiac. Good luck.

Attended the 5th Annual Manheim Summer Slam Car Show 2025 in Elkridge Maryland on July 27, 2025. About 150 cars were in attendance. I was the only Pontiac in the Show...but...look what showed up outside of the Show Car lot...lol. So much for me playing up the rarity of the 1960 Pontiacs. That makes 5 known 1960 Pontiacs in the Central Maryland area. Who knew...lol. Enjoy the images.

...and since I'm on the subject, attached pictures are now 7 known 1960 Pontiacs in the Central Maryland area. It's always nice to see other 1960 Pontiacs and talk to the owners about the history and stories they have about their cars. Who knew that Central Maryland was a hot bed for 1960 Pontiacs....they are coming out of the wood work...lol. Enjoy.

Sorry Rick, I did not read far enough in your post about the Eastwood car show. We are further apart than you think. I live near Pottstown Pennsylvania, where they also have an Eastwood Summer Classic Car Show on that very same date, which is about 20 minutes from my house. I did not realize Eastwood also had a store in Pasadena Maryland. I still hope we may meet up at some point in the future.

Attended the first annual AutoStream Car Show 2025 on August 2, 2025 in Reisterstown, Maryland. About 80-90 cars were in attendance, with 3 Pontiacs being represented. The weather was absolutely perfect and a lot of spectators came out to enjoy the show. None of the Pontiacs earned the 8 custom trophies that were being awarded.

Attended the Sons of the American Legion Post 60 Car Show sponsored by the Bombers Car Club of Maryland in Laurel Maryland on August 10, 2025. The weather was perfect with 144 cars in attendance. There were 9 excellent examples of Pontiacs represented. Two of those earned a Top 40 award, which were unique trophies. They were representative of an artillery shell that also serves as a Thermos. (I need two more of these...already had one)....to mount on my taillights. Might deter tailgaters...lol. Pictures attached 'cause we all love pictures. Enjoy.

Attended the 12th Annual John Wesley United Methodist Church Car Show 2025 in Annapolis Maryland on August 16, 2025. About 70+ cars were in attendance...tough to tell since the show lot was full and late arrivals were in a different parking lot located across the street. Excellent weather was provided by the Man upstairs...lol. I saw four Pontiacs represented, though more could have been in the other lot. Of those Pontiacs represented, 2 placed in the Top 40 Best of Show. A great time was had by all. Enjoy the pics.

Attended the Rally for the Wreaths Car Show 2025 at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, Maryland on August 23, 2025. There were 164 cars in attendance and out of those, 3 were Pontiacs, with 1 taking a Top 30 Best of Show. It was great weather and an excellent location for the Show. Managed to catch up with a friend that has "the evil cousin" to my car...lol. A 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible with a 348 cu. in. Tri-power and a 4 speed BW-T10 manual transmission. It's always interesting to compare cars from GM, across the brand of the same year, that are similarly optioned. Enjoy the pics.
