  1. I just saw this last night on Steve's Pontiac Heaven Facebook page. That is BAD ASS, Nice job!
  2. It was a great event, Even though Matthew tried to whip my ass we pulled it together and made the show. It was great to meet up with two old Friends and fellow Pontiacers. Hanging with the Giant is always a day of ball busting laughs We even found some vintage JGG T-Shirts to support the old man Rick is 74 and still will only drive a 4 speed and I'll tell you when he's behind the wheel he's 20 again He snow birds down south these days but hits every strip he can up and down the east coast. For those interested here is a link to my images of some of the 1200+ cars on display; http://s412.photobucket.com/user/SPRINT-6/slideshow/2016 EAST COAST DRAG TIMES HALL of FAME SHOW
  3. Matthew kicked me in my nuts. I wasn't going to go into it but I'm in a better place now both mentally and physically. I will say our losses are far less then 100's of others in our area, so I feel blessed. A little back story; My wife and I decided that weekend to celebrate our 33rd early due to an upcoming trip to NC. So like so many we ventured out Saturday the 8th thinking we were just in for some heavy rain and usual street flooding. Besides we all know we can trust the weatherman so whats the worry, Right? Well the rain came in and we went out, It was about 6pm and within a few hours the rain was really picking up. After a great dinner we ventured home around 10:30 and when we turned down our street I knew we we're going to have some water in the garage, it happen before. My work truck was in the road and the water was already at the rockers. I just pulled my wife's SUV onto the yard and then moved my trucks as well. We talked for a bit while we watched the news and again no one felt Virginia Beach was going to be effected so we called it a night. Well 1:30am my wife happened to get up and that's when all hell broke loose. For the first time in who knows how long there was water coming in the doors, Oh the Beach Life Now realizing there was no option other then to start piling every household item below 12" up and onto anything possible. This fire-drill went on to about 3:30 and all I can say is my wife is a trooper. We were able to save almost 90% of the items in the house. After we realized there was nothing further we could do, I immediately turned my attention to the 3 vehicles outside slowly being consumed by water, not to mention the fact that I had brought the '66 to the house earlier in the week to prepare it for the NC trip, BIG MISTAKE! So I pulled my wife's little truck onto the porch and and backed my 2 trucks closer to the house in hopes this would be enough to save them. See I live on an elevated lot, but apparently its at the bottom of a bowl. After dealing with all the above I then switched gears to figure out what the hell do I do with the one in the garage? Thankfully I had my jack and jack stands in the truck backed up the driveway, so I began to crawl in the rising water and jack the old gal up as high as I could. Oh what Joy this was, but I did it. I had it up at the highest position of the stands and that is all I could do. I then turned my attention back to the wife and dog and set them up in her truck on the porch, as I sat there sporting my nifty rubber boots watching the slow rise of the water in my home and bitching at the weather channel . It was now around 4:30 and the rise had stopped, Whew! Luckily our home (Ranch) was built with flood code specs with all electric receptacles are at 20" and power feeds ran from above so we never lost power. All in all we took 6" in the house and saved a lot of stuff including all vehicles. Our house is one of at least a thousand to sustain this level of damage which is classified as MINIMAL. We were stuck in-place due to the lower streets staying flooded and impassable until Monday around 10:45am. That is when I started the removal of all household goods. We are fully insured and will overcome! Our hearts go out to all the local family's who have lost everything. This weather event was underrated and shows how vulnerable we are. Here's a shot from Sunday morning when the water started to recede, the garage is about 5" lower so there was about 10-11" of water in the garage.
  4. I would conduct a low pressure water test. Start low at one side with good lighting set up within the car, then move across from there. Then up a few inches at the pillars and continue until hopefully determining the breach location. Take your time before moving as it may take awhile to create the leak. I had an issues on the PS were water would collect in the foot well and it drove me nuts but after a good test it turned out to be a bad antenna wire grommet in the upper cowl. What a PITA to figure that one out .
  5. Attending this years event was mainly to be part of and support our good friends induction. The car show was, as is always filled with amazing machines of all types. The class breakdown has always been a 1 winner per class. Albeit always a skewed breakdown as are most shows anymore with several Chebby, Furd and Mopoor classes. With us B.O.P. owners always left out to hang. I will say this show at least separated Buick, Old's and Pontiac's but that's about it. Each class was a winner take all. No 1st, 2nd &/or 3rd. A basic Best winner of each class. When we walked over to the awards they blew through the classes fairly quickly and the Best Pontiac was awarded this truly deserving freshly restored 1956 SAFARI 2DR wagon, and what a car! I took many pictures of this fine machine. Well fast forward to today after a visit the PO box I grab up the mail and among the stack is a box, well I get it home and open it up. I was truly thrown back when I saw this letter and accompanying plaque/AWARD! I was and still am honestly honored for such an award based on so many far more worthy competitors. All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU this one will be placed high on the wall of honors.
  6. PP, You should consider contacting the Pontiac-Oakland museum. Tim Dye retains one of if not the largest collection of Pontiac-Oakland Information and/or memorabilia. They offer a resource service for inquiries such as yours and are far better suited to answer your question with accurate facts. Best of Luck. http://www.pontiacoaklandmuseum.org/
  7. OK let me try this again. Something screwy going on for sure. Anyhow we have been off line do to Matthew, so we dealt with the aftermath and stayed the course. No way I was going to miss Old Man Holidays induction into the hall of Fame. We had a blast, so how about some pictures ? http://s412.photobucket.com/user/SPRINT-6/slideshow/2016 EAST COAST DRAG TIMES HALL of FAME SHOW
  8. This is a great event, we've attended this several times in the past. We are looking forward to this year as one of our good friends Rick Holladay is getting inducted. If you have a chance to attend I don't think you will be disappointed.
  9. Nice shots, Vintage Planes & Cars two of my favorite things for sure! My spotters reported several Cammers on deck, which at any show is very rare. Looks like it was a decent show.
  10. And now for something completely different, None Static shot. Pontiac's in motion always look good ;-) Our 1966 LeMANS OHC Sprint 6 running the curves.
  11. With temperatures finally returning to normal, my Daughter suggested we do one last show before she heads back to College, You know I couldn't say no Great company, Great Weather, Great Organization and a Great location. Another banner show for the Local Khedive Shriner's on their 25th Anniversary. A little taste of some of the Iron on the field, Sorry the PB slide link always shuffles the order. ENJOY! http://s412.photobucket.com/user/SPRINT-6/slideshow/SHOW TIME
  12. Looking well read Truly one of best "races" that never happened. Could you imagine attempting to write an imaginary comparison test/race between two cars that never met at a track in today's electronic society. I have always wondered what if they did indeed get the chance to run side by side, likely be a whole different story. None the less Legendary stuff for sure. We were honored with an invitation to be in the GTO display at the 2014 GM Nat's with the '65. We did not know the '64 was going to be there. It came in right after we had been parked. Scott fired her up, backed her into place and man did she sound good. What a Great weekend we had!
  13. Welcome to the board. Just to start with you would need at least items/parts 1-9 off this list from Ames Performance. https://secure.amesperf.com/qilan/Search_Web;jsessionid=BB95EECA2900C8A18BCA2710BB4497F4?order_number_e=MzE3NDEyMQ%3D%3D &method_1=&method_2=&on=Y&search_method=3&cat_rowid=1&search_year=1970&cat_sec_rowid=12&cat_sec_sub_rowid=1189&sort=0 And you are correct most issues come about when you try to mix & match. Best of luck
  14. Thanks. Happy 4th of JULY gang ! BE SAFE.
  15. The vin will not tell you more then the Model and plant it was built and possibly whether it's a 6 or 8 cyl. Here are a few links to some sites with decoding info; http://www.tpocr.com/pontiacvin6.html http://tinindianperformance.com/Pontiac GTO VIN decoding.htm The Firewall Trim tag will give some of the factory Acc codes, but there could be Dealer added options as well. PHS is the only TRUE way to figure out what your Pontiac came from the factory with. Cheers
  16. In your OP you say NEW engine. How long has it been running? A new complete build is always going to run hotter until everything sets in/up. That being said the numbers you last posted are not off the chart. 215 with AC on is a good number. You shouldn't start worrying until you see the high side of 240. You'll know when your having problems as shes going to puke and let you know shes to hot. When we get the '67 out on a 95+ day she will jump to 215/220 very quickly and will run all day with no issues. We did add a catch can just to be sure we were not loosing Fl and did have to go back in to correctly clearance the WP divider plate. Keep driving/enjoying her, but keep an eye on it. Cheers
  17. Found in as looking at or bought? As far as information as with any old Pontiac PHS is the only way to verify what she truly is/was from the factory. Another great place are the YUKU OHC pages and are IMHO the #1 resource, Great bunch of folks and wealth of knowledge. http://sohcsix.yuku.com/directory The other must for OHC information is the OHC specialty chapter of POCI; We have quite the following and the chapter has really grown over the last few years. http://overheadcammerschapter.150m.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Overhead-Cammers-Chapter-213964338622663/ Would love to know/see more about her.
  18. As some have already indicated not all cranks came machined for the bushing and/or a bearing. I would first confirm the bearing is correct and it might be hard to tell but with a good light see if you can determine if your crank looks machined within the seat. I myself prefer the OEM bushing over the bearing and luckily have not ran into this issue thus far.
  19. WOW, Dose that bring back memories. Very cool indeed, We had this '55 Chebby in the early 80's around the same time I was becoming a Pontiacer :-) Good luck with her & Enjoy

  21. Truly sad to see the loss of another Pontiac Icon. It was the illustrations of Art & Van that really captured the do anything, anywhere in a Pontiac feeling. I have always liked their layouts. http://www.fitz-art.com/ From Pontiac's Online; http://www.pontiacsonline.com/FITZ%20AND%20VAN.htm My personal favorite. Here is a great site showing all their Pontiac work; http://www.carstyling.ru/en/entry/Art_Fitzpatrick_and_Van_Kaufman_AF_VK_Jet_Age_Glamour/images/4069/ __________________
