  1. Thanks Stratman I hope to be among several fine OHC Pontiacs at this event. When the OHC hit the market, the aftermarket was not far behind. CLIFFORD PERFORMANCE was the main player for the OHC but there were several others offering "speed" parts. CLIFFORD is still active in the 4 & 6 cyl engine stuff, just no longer anything for the OHC Mac MaKellar was Pontiac's CAM guy he was one of the main players in many OHC engine designs. This '68 cover of Hot Rod shows him with some of the "secret" stuff that went on. They show what looks to be a DOHC but like the twin OHCs I don't think it ever came to be more than an exercise in design. Sadly we lost Mac and the original Twin OHC 421 from his GP has vanished. One of my favorites; Cheers
  2. Haven't seen anything here about the Pontiac Nationals but I'm sure all you TRUE Pontiacers already know about it. http://summitmotorsportspark.com/component/jevents/icalrepeat.detail/2015/08/02/356/-/-?Itemid=1 I've not been out since 08 so long over due. Now with the POCI OHC Chapter's Reunion it's a WIN WIN for me. Truck & Trailer all set and I'm ready to roll... If you have the opportunity to attend you will not be disappointed. Cheers
  3. The reason it was hidden in the barn When I saw that last year I was floored, it just goes to show to some it's just a car
  4. OUTSTANDING! This POTM pick goes well with FROSTY's Coverage of the Canadian Pontiac's at the Sloan Show. Great Choice for sure.
  5. There are 5 screws just under the DS leading edge of the pad. These can be removed with a stubby phillips screw driver. Then on the PS there are studs that protrude through the dash. One at each corner of the passenger side compartment. To access the stud/nuts at the left & right of glove box, the liner and ashtray have to be removed. Should not need to touch radio. Once all the screws and the 2 nuts are removed pull the pad forward while lifting and she should lift off. Good Luck.
  6. Try over here... http://www.pontiacpower.net/castnum01.html
  7. My first mod beyond STOCK were the NEW SHOES. The stock Dia tires just weren't cutting it anymore and we were showing less and Driving more. So as time when on this necessitated more meat on all 4 corners. Even doing so has not caused major deductions but worth it none the less. But of course more meat lead too boxed arms, Frame stiffeners, Larger front sway, KYB shocks, Rear sway and last but not least a JGC quick ratio steering box
  8. Well I'm a little disappointed. I just had to swap in my long awaiting reserve Radiator. Back in '94 when we went thought the Lemans she had under 100K on the clock and all systems had been thoroughly gone through. The rad was in great shape, so we had it serviced, tested and then we re-installed it. After a few years I secured another rad and had it re-cored as a back up. Well sure enough while idling in the shop a few weeks back I saw a tiny puff of steam. Low and behold she finally has given up. You would think I could have at least gotten 50 years and not just 49 WTH Pontiac! Alls good now, glad she let me know at home Vs on a road trip
  9. Amazing car, been following this car ever since I first saw it. I'm amazed at all the bit's & pieces on this 1964 way before their use on production models. Like the Rally II's I've always wondered why Pontiac waited until '67 to use them. Back when they STOLE it for under 300K I was floored. This is what the 5th time they are offering it for sale. Sad that they just keep trying to cash in, I get it but don't like it! I think this is an amazing piece of Pontiac's (OHC 6) History and sure wish it would at the least end up in the Pontiac Oakland Museum, were everyone could have a chance to see it! https://www.pontiacoaklandmuseum.org/
  10. Thanks guy's. It was a great way to start the season for sure. It's acrylic carved with what I am told was a past winner rendering. At the show I thought it was a '69 Camaro, but once home realized it's a '72 GT-37. The whole thing is about 12x12 on a wooden base with very small LED type up-lighting. I plugged it in and turned off the lights for the full effect. Wishing everyone a great show season.! Cheers
  11. After all the pressure to clean her we decided we should take her to the 1st show of the year. So we went out to the local CHEVY LOVERS Dust Off show Saturday and received a great season opener We were car #143 out of 160(+-)
  12. If the weather is good and you really want to see some great Pontiac's, Mainly A-Body then DO IT! It was a 4.5 hour run for my Ham of a daughter and myself. We had a great day. I posted this slideshow from our trip in 2013 but thought I would re-post to add a teaser; http://s412.photobucket.com/user/SPRINT-6/slideshow/CAVE GO IF YOU CAN
  13. Gary's Show is coming up and if you have the time it's worth the ride. Great Collection & Great Folks.
  14. Well if you must know with all the added pressure of being POTM I was somewhat obligated to wash her and get her out and about. So I did, only thing is now I have to clean her again, been out all day running around knowing the roads would be almost wide open
  15. Great, now I have to clean the car. Sadly I've not had her out of the garage for a couple months and this is so not like me Thanks to all who voted!
  16. I just didn't want the miss-information to continue sorry if it came off wrong. Safety tech is very serious at most tracks, in this case lots of folks ready to blame the driver. If I had to speculate they likely used a bolted plate type cage/bar anchor which is allowed in some classes. I see all types of allowable mounts that make me go Hmmm. That old iron rips/tears real easy. Most of my local Pontiac brothers race and when we set up a car we go right to the frame. There's no guarantee but well worth the extra work. To make it even more exciting Rich runs a '65 Drop Top
  17. If you think that was bad... >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2tk8X8tZok
  18. Happened Sept 2014 and there have been tons of trolls posting about no bars, belts, etc. Here is a link to the video, along with some facts; http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/09/this-55-chevrolet-bel-air-driver-is-lucky-to-be-alive-accident-watch/
  19. Thankfully don't get much snow over here on the beach side of Virginia. Since I had already dug this up for another post, this old picture will have to do. Back when driving in the snow was never an issue.
  20. Well it was back sometime late 1980 while returning from a long weekend ski trip from upstate NY. I had one of my first '66's all decked out with snow gear and having a blast. While there we had a little snowbank mishap that lead to an unknown fractured ball joint. She let go on the early morning "express" trip to get back to NJ. I think I was doing an average of 75 most of the ride back. Something started to feel wrong and on deceleration DS dropped out from under us. Didn't need coffee that morning and couldn't save the underwear but I managed to bring it to a stop. Tire, Rim, Control arm, Lower fender & bumper were toast. Not something I would like to repeat. Glad yours was spared any major damage. Cheers
  21. Your very lucky you got her home before it snapped. Dropping a ball joint at speed is NO FUN, ask me how I know
