  2. welcome this is going t be a fun build ๐Ÿ‘ Tell us you plans ?
  3. Here in New Zealand if you modify your car in anyway you have to get the modification's certified by the gods.. aka lvvta low volume vehicle testing authority to comply with the nzta ... new zealand transport authority and then you can get a warrant of fitness for your car every 6 months , to be legally aloud to drive your pride and joy๐Ÿ™„ fitzy can relate to this as ozzy has a similar system, except theirs is even harder than nz... well today i spent from 8 am till 5 pm standing around waiting my turn to get the Cortina through its first lvvta inspection.... in this car it has a non stock engine and gear box, diffrent diff and a whole change for front suspension. i came away with a list of 4 items to rectify , none of which where what i would consider major things to change, i had used a bolt instead of a pin for the brake pedal to push rod pivot, i had washers spacing the wilwood front calipers and they want that to be a single bush. they want a rear drive shaft loop to stop the drive shaft from cutting the flow and return fuel lines.... i had piped the line in the drive shaft tunnel and already have a front drive shaft loop. and the guy did not except my aftermarket single circuit brake master cylinder,,,, if it was a factory Cortina one i could keep the single outlet system otherwise it has to be a dual circuit master cylinder. you guys state side are so lucky you dont have all the southern hemisphere bs we have !!!just to keep our old cars on the road legally !! some of the projects where chassis inspections like my mate Johns 56 chev truck chassis, some where there for seat belt mount certifcations this guy with his brand new purchase had no idea that even though he paid big money for a dodge charger it was a real mess under side and the list of things that need doing is LONG ,, i will not elaborate.
  4. fitzy i don't think having negative air pressure in you motor from a vacuum source is an issue, a positive air pressure IS. your motor is basically a big compressor and the crank case needs to be at least a neutral air pressure zone or you will have issues with blowing seals and all sorts. kiss comes to mind. a breather to let air in and a vacuum line to your air cleaner will work fine, a pcv valve was introduced for emissions i believe just having a breather on each valve cover will justA turn into a pita, positive crank pressure will push oil out of the breathers .... ie, piston blow-by been there done that
  5. Ah the old square peg round hole trick !!! mate your not alone in the miss happs department i havenโ€™t done anything worthy of this thread but my f- wit younger bother has ! Back in the day we both had fe holdens his was a runner, while I was still building mine ... this super cleaver guy took off one day from our family farm and 30 minutes latter turned up back at home on foot ... white as a sheet ... he had lost a front wheel that he had just fitted ... it took off down a big hill in front of him and the fe came to a messy Holt ! I will never forget him banging on about how it must have been faulty wheel nuts .... he is a mechanic ๐Ÿ™„ he did it again a few year later when he did a skid in his mk 3 cortina ... this time it wasnโ€™t a wheel ! It was a drive shaft he had made out of exhaust tube !!! It twisted itself in half and came up through the floor behind the drivers seat and chopped up the floor ... he was very lucky that day !!? ๐Ÿ™„ family !!! Durrrr ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
  6. Yeah we are over you banging on about that bloody car ! Bring back the ride on posts !!! Did you get that rat ???
  7. oh !!! been there done that !!!!!๐Ÿ™„
  8. Progress on the additions ! frames up and trusses are next but waiting on scaffolding To go up first I have a mate who I bought a trailer off to sit the spare 64 Pontiac body on and he is doing my scaffolding for a suitable beer price ๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป
  9. we went to the beach for the long weekend, and i rested as i am still getting over a bad bought of flu ! feeling better now and have got into the build, frames are up. then work has got in the road again !! ๐Ÿ˜ก
  10. Dwight I will pm you I think I could use your engine !
  11. That black and red 57. what gets me JustA is that bottom trailing arm on the diff, below the scrub line !! why did they do that ???? its going to, not only hook on every judder bar but you can see it too !!! in kiwi land we call that a f-ck up
  12. Dwight, i know it was a post from last year, but did you get rid of the 389 ?
  13. omg! you would never get away with that today!
  14. I am not so sure about all this climate change stuff ! what i DO know is we live on a planet that is constantly changing and moving, and that's justA fact. Here at the beach there is a pole buried in the sand dune since 2008 . it was originally buried up to where the red meets the blue strips. its indicating that the dunes have eroded by the best part of 1 m in 14 odd years. that to me is a living planet doing its natural thing.
  15. Yes mate ! I really think itโ€™s a great idea ! Think about all those engines we look at in cars and instantly determine how grunty they are !! JustA by looking at them !!! This would be the old wolf in sheepโ€™s clothes trick Frosty, I do like that this engine builds all its torque down low in the rpms !! That to me is way more usable and fun ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  16. Go for it mate, if you think you can make a coin or two ๐Ÿ‘
  17. My concern would be falling off !! With those blades below you , there wouldnt be much left
