  1. Tools Explained DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it. WIRE WHEEL: Cleans paint off bolts and then throws them somewhere under the workbench with the speed of light. Also removes fingerprints and hard-earned calluses from fingers in about the time it takes you to say, "Oh, shit!" SKILL SAW: A portable cutting tool used to make studs too short. PLIERS: Used to round off bolt heads. Sometimes used in the creation of blood-blisters. BELT SANDER: An electric sanding tool commonly used to convert minor touch-up jobs into major refinishing jobs. HACKSAW: One of a family of cutting tools built on the Ouija board principle... It transforms human energy into a crooked, unpredictable motion, and the more you attempt to influence its course, the more dismal your future becomes. VISE-GRIPS: Generally used after pliers to completely round off bolt heads. If nothing else is available, they can also be used to transfer intense welding heat to the palm of your hand. OXYACETYLENE TORCH: Used almost entirely for lighting various flammable objects in your shop on fire. Also handy for igniting the grease inside the wheel hub out of which you want to remove a bearing race.. TABLE SAW: A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles for testing wall integrity. HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK: Used for lowering an automobile to the ground after you have installed your new brake shoes, trapping the jack handle firmly under the bumper. BAND SAW: A large stationary power saw primarily used by most shops to cut good aluminum sheet into smaller pieces that more easily fit into the trash can after you cut on the inside of the line instead of the outside edge. TWO-TON ENGINE HOIST: A tool for testing the maximum tensile strength of everything you forgot to disconnect. PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER: Normally used to stab the vacuum seals under lids or for opening old-style paper-and-tin oil cans and splashing oil on your shirt; but can also be used, as the name implies, to strip out Phillips screw heads. STRAIGHT SCREWDRIVER: A tool for opening paint cans. Sometimes used to convert common slotted screws into non-removable screws and butchering your palms. PRY BAR: A tool used to crumple the $200 metal surrounding that clip or bracket you needed to remove in order to replace a 50 cent part. HOSE CUTTER: A tool used to make hoses too short. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object you are trying to hit. UTILITY KNIFE: Used to open and slice through the contents of cardboard cartons delivered to your front door; works particularly well on contents such as seats, vinyl records, liquids in plastic bottles, collector magazines, refund checks, and rubber or plastic parts. Especially useful for slicing work clothes, but only while in use.. SON OF A BITCH TOOL: Any handy tool that you grab and throw across the garage while yelling "Son of a bitch" at the top of your lungs. It is also, most often, the next tool that you will need. This is a classic that I have had for quite awhile but like to share it.
  2. I want to make these up and drop them under windshield wipers of ricers.
  3. Great now I have to get beer off my monitor. That was hilarious. Now everytime I see my dog all I see is XXXXXX my favourite thing.
  4. Here's the list (Click quote and add to) Email / Type / Color / Quantity [email protected], Dart, Red, 1 [email protected], Chief, Red, 2 [email protected], dart, silver, 2
  5. I will be over celebrating. The wife said that we can drink till I look good with the lights on.
  6. There used to be a guy on ebay that sold a Pontiac overlay for the front logo with a skull on it. I cannot find his store anymore but I will keep an eye out for it.
  7. Replace the fuel filter then do a fuel pressure test on the system. A worn fuel pump may still give the same symptoms that you described.
  8. I am not sure why but it may get him out of his jail time the way things are going. The thing that I do not understand is that some of the cars that are accelerating uncontrollably are not exactly performance cars. The acceleration would be slow but without being there who can tell. I found the article: http://www.asq.org/qualitynews/qnt/execute...tup?newsID=8106 This was an interesting read: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2010/03/04/...test=latestnews
  9. God I should have bought Ford stock when it was 1.70 per share. If I can find it but there is a Toyota driver that has been in jail for vehicular manslaughter. The initial report even stated that he claimed that the throttle stuck when he was exiting a highway.
  10. Just turned 34 and no plans on kids. Actually I think that there has been a bill passed preventing me from having kids. After looking at the poll I am starting to see grey hair coming in.
  11. It is suprising how many vehicles are made as a cross between companies and how many times through co-operation that there are parts used by other companies. The Isuzu Hombre was just an S10 and now is a Canyon but in turn they were the chief developers of the Duramax Diesels I believe. Suzuki makes one of the SUV just in Ingersol Ontario. I think it is the Equinox but do not quote me on that. Hell I had a 87 Nova before my Vibe and it was built at NUMMI with Corolla parts. Three engines and two transmissions in 3 years I sold it to my boss.
  12. Go for a happy medium and say the 3rd week of March. That is when I am doing my car, the wife's car.
  13. If you do not have ABS just do not hook it up from the wheel bearings. I would check the wheel bearing dimensions as I think the disk and drums are the same size so the bearing assemblies will work. The expensive part is going to be the backing plates.
  14. Nice van. At least my buddy is not the only one to modify a Pontiac Montana.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac Read the last line under revival. I know that wiki is not the most reliable source but I hope this maybe true.
  16. Did someone put the wrong tires on that car?
  17. Of the three I prefer the Arens mowers myself. At least with that one you get the best of both world with the Honda engine but the Arens uses thicker steel on their frames. This is why they seem a little heavier than that of their competitors. The lawn boys are okay but the wheels are prone to breaking relitively quick compared to their competitors and getting the parts sometimes takes a little. The only thing with the Honda engines is if you need to transport them to a friends/family members house just shut the fuel off. I have found that the fuel pump has a tendancy to flutter during transport and flood the motor full of fuel. I have had a number of those particular motors come back with so much fuel in the crank you cannot even move the piston.
  18. The first thing that I would do is to top off the oil and monitor it. There could have been an error in filling the crank case. This is why I like the Q Lube that I have been going to because they show you the crank case level before you leave. Keep notes for about two weeks on the level in a small book. If what I have read is correct they do not call it a PCV anymore it is called a Purge Valve. Either way I have had them fail more than I would like to admit. Also check for oil around your drain plug. Some of the newer engines have little copper/nylon/poly gaskets. Although they may not leak when cold at operating temperatures it could lead slightly. What I have done is afix a bandage around the plug and warm up the engine. If there is a leak the bandage will catch the oil.
  19. I have 20% all around and I am happy with it. It keeps the car cooler in the summer and just enough so that you have difficulty looking in.
  20. This is one of the best stories that I have seen in a long time. But it has a sad ending. http://jalopnik.com/5471953/fiero-enthusia...man-passes-away
  21. Nice looking car. You did the manual swap yourself? Good job. If I can find the pictures of the car I have seen J-bodies with Northstar engine swaps so if you are ever planning on going insane that might be a good route. Good work though on the car. Keep it up.
  22. I have my parking fetish of not parking next to certain vehicles. I hate when the car is dirty and when I do not have time to clean it is worse but the winter I give up until it is warm enough to do so. Burnt out bulbs drive me insane and I check my rear lights when I am in a drive through and I can see the reflection of them in a neighbouring buisness.
