  1. It would be different if I was getting the latest version(s) of the software (e.g. new functionality and patch fixes to prevent hacking), much like my monthly IOS and Windows updates. However, most software upgrades have to flashed into the car by the dealer and are not typically done via the airwaves/wi-fi - like our PCs and smart phones. So this is just a money making scheme that someone obviously fell for. Savy buyers will avoid this like the plague. I don't see auto manufacturers wanting to get into the automotive car patching business either. It's not something I expect to pay for on a regular basis either. I am with you Ringo, one and done.
  2. Happy wife, happy life - or so the expression goes. Nothing rhythms with husband so we are basically screwed.
  3. So what plugs did you replace the Bosch plugs with? NGK? AC Delco? Champion? E3?
  4. Wow! I haven't heard or thought about Nunzi in years. I remember when he was "the go to Pontiac racing guru" back in the 70s and 80s. He's retired now and the shop is out of business (I think). However, he built some very fast Pontiacs. Thanks for posting these 31pontiac.
  5. I have experience removing fenders and heater cores firewalls on my buddy's '68 Impala. This car didn't have air thoguh, but I know that removing the inner fender is start. What I am not sure about is can you get to the left most bolts without removing the external fender completely. Have you considered getting a GM shop manual for your car? That would give you the proper (e.g. GM) way to remove it - complete with exploded diagrams and instructions. They are available both in paper and on CDs. Money well spent in my opinion.
  6. Pro - I agree with you. Stupidity is never at fault when lawyers get involved (that almost sounds contradictory). Since I know nothing of owning motorcycle and I have no desire to ride or own one, I defer to you experience with the costs associated with owning one. I must admit the logic is sound behind the fact that if you own a sport bike, we know you are going to be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stupid on it, then you get to pay more for insurance for that privilege to be stupid and wrong. However, this is similar to what happened in the late 60s and early 70s when certain muscle cars like the GTO, 442, GSX, Road Runner, etc. were tagged by insurance companies as muscle cars and they had to pay a kings ransom for coverage (sometimes more than their car payment a month). However, buying a Lemans, Cutlass, Skylark, and Satellite with the same engine/suspension packages avoided all those charges. In today's politically correct world, some would argue that this profiling or discrimination. Yeah, it is. Too bad. It's (currently) legal.
  7. Rick - can't you just buy a new evaporator core from Classic Auto Air or Old Air? Granted, sending in a rebuild-able core helps lower your cost typically. I have to believe you should be able to buy a new one from one of these guys or somewhere else.
  8. Patthebaker - sorry for the long delay in responding to you. I just noticed this question and I see no one replied to that. So please forgive this delay. Based on your description, I suspect the master switch in the driver door is the source of the problem. Is the power window / door lock buttons on the armrest or on the door? If it on the arm rest then it should require a flat head screw driver to gentle pop it up. Check it to make sure all the electrical connections are tight. Look for pinched or broken wires or connectors. If the switch is on the door, then you may be able to pop it out as before or you will have to partial disassembly the door. There will several screws that you need to find and remove. Once that's done, you should be able to gently pry the screw driver between the metal door and the door's plastic cover. The cover is held in place by locating tabs that just come out when you pry on it. I would recommend looking at YouTube videos on how to take a door apart before attempt this to give you a visual idea of what to do. Another thing to do is consult your owner's manual. Find out where the fuse block is (most cars today its under the hood). The manual should tell what fuse that controls the power windows and door locks. You want to remove it to see if its blown. It is possible that your master switch is bad and may need to be replaced, but I would not jump to that conclusion until you've done the other two things first.
  9. While I see the broader implications to GM and other autonomous vehicle makers that can result in crashes between human driven vehicles versus computer controlled ones (this lawsuit would've inevitably happen somewhere IMO), I have to wonder if this guy would be suing GM if it wasn't an autonomous vehicle (albeit with a human backup) that' is involved in the first place. If it was a regular car, driven by a human being, would he sue GM or the car owner instead....even though the police placed him 100% at fault for the accident?
  10. Yeah, but at least you have your own garage / man-cave. As for the 3 women, you're simply doomed, doomed, doomed.
  11. Nope. It's a jet Pinto, not a jet boat. However, an ejection seat and a parachute might not be a bad idea.
  12. Roger that. With the lone exception of my son's room, my wife's clothes occupy some (or all) space in every closet in the house, including mine.
  13. I am surprised it was a bathroom. If it was my wife, it would be another walk-in closet - for her. I suspect you were wishing it was a closet instead.
  14. Perhaps. I figure the jet engine is a crash detourant. "Come any closer and I will light this sucker up!"
  15. Now this is something you don't see everyday. Thumbing through Craigslist today, I stumbled across this interesting project car. An unfinished '73 Pinto wagon with a jet engine! Yes sir, nothing will get your attention faster than a Pinto passing you on the highway at Mach 1. https://lansing.craigslist.org/cto/d/jet-car-unfinisthed-project/6449583820.html
  16. I don't believe so. The Equinox/Torrent was GM's Theta platform. The G6 was part of the Epsilon platform. So I don't think too much of the suspension parts are interchangeable.
  17. Very cool! Firehawk #1 was up for sale back in the early 2000s. I wished like hell that I bought it now.
  18. Here is the body tag decoder According to your body tag, the upper PNT code is "T". Not much to go on, plus I can't seem to find the vinyl top specs available for a '72 GP. Can I suggest you order the complete set of paperwork on your car from PHS? This will give you the build sheet information, a replica of the window sticker, etc. This will tell you how your car left the factory. In my opinion, it is $75 well spent. http://www.phs-online.com/
  19. This is a tough one. I am not aware of anyone that makes new body bushings for these classic Pontiacs. Even Kanter Auto does not re-pop them. Having said that, Chevrolet and Pontiac did share some parts in the 40s and early 50s. So I would suggest looking at the '51 Chevy body mount kit from Chevs of 40s. Perhaps you can use that kit instead. https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/dept/Body+To+Frame/cat/Hardware.html I found two ads in the current issue of Smoke Signals that is advertising 30s to 70s NOS parts. This is a shot in the dark but who knows, they may have what you need or give you a good lead. 1. Robert Christanell (770) 476-4665 - Georgia 2. Kelsey Antique Auto Parts (641) 648-9086 - Iowa
  20. Tim Allen once proposed that the Indianapolis 500 should be changed from race cars to equally prepared Ford Country Squire station wagons, and drivers have to ride along with their wife and 2-3 irritable children. Pit stops would be for gas and potty breaks for the kids. More so for the kids really. At least once for directions. Can you imagine Mario Andretti driving this way while Michael and Jeff are in the back seat screaming their heads off? Don't make me stop this car!!!! Now that is a TRUE test of man and machine!
  21. Use the excuse you are just adjusting her chassis!
  22. No wonder this thing has a twin turbocharged W-12 engine. It weighs almost 7,200 pounds. That is almost 1,000 more than a Hummer H2! I don't see this sucker doing soccer mom duty anytime soon.
  23. I was telling JUSTA yesterday, the biggest thing I want to see at the NAIAS is the original Steve McQueen Bullitt '68 Mustang. I wouldn't dream of going to this show without taking pictures. Too much eye candy.
  24. Perhaps I am naive, or just too thick headed to get this. Is it ride share availability, in and of itself, the reason that these so called 250,000 have given up car/truck ownership or is it more likely that: A. Ride share availability is abundant in their area - meaning its cheap and plentiful B. They can't or don't want to afford a new or slightly used car, insurance, registration, etc., etc., etc., (e.g. all the costs it takes to own a vehicle) C. They are millennials and they are too lazy or cheap to be bothered with owning a car/truck period. They are use to mom and dad constantly chauffeuring their butts around all their lives, so as an adult, this is the next best thing. D. They can't take their eyes off their smartphones long enough to pay attention to the road. E. All of the above are required?
  25. The only time that appearance truly matters is in a judged concur event. Otherwise, it comes to personal preference.
