  1. Sounds like a great place to check out next time I am in Ringo's neck of the woods.
  2. "Since the recall began, Takata has filed for bankruptcy, been fined $1 billion, and three executives have been convicted for falsifying data. Michigan-based supplier Key Safety Systems inked a deal to purchase Takata for for $1.6 billion last year. Once production of the replacements for defective inflators are completed, Takata will shutter its airbag division." With 34 million cars already on the recall list, I think its safe to say that Takata's airbag division will be around for awhile longer.
  3. Interesting article from Yale University about electric and autonomous vehicles. I think it certainly paints two very different pictures. http://e360.yale.edu/features/will-self-driving-cars-usher-in-a-transportation-utopia-or-dystopia
  4. ...and plug the the line at the water pump and the passenger cylinder head.
  5. The other thing I am concerned about is once again the government is legislating consumer demand or consumer choice. That usually has a tendency to fail to meet the government's expectations....and tick off some of their constituents.
  6. I am surprised you didn't put "Big Daddy" Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum on the list. Granted it is open nearly year round rather than an annual event.
  7. Never under estimate the sheer power and magnitude of human laziness and stupidity Ringo. It will continue to confound and amaze you the rest of your life...and there is nothing you can do about it. You just have to sit back, watch, and enjoy the popcorn. If you are really, really lucky....there is the occasional "Hold Ma' Beer, Watch This" moment.
  8. You have a point. Good excuse for a boondoggle to a bowl game or something.
  9. Okay, stupid question time. Why the heck did GM have to go to all the way to Georgia to test the effects of Christmas decorations on automotive aerodynamics when they have their own, perfectly good wind tunnel on the grounds of the GM Technical Center in Warren Michigan? They didn't want the bows, antlers, noses, or Christmas trees to get lodged in their own propeller blades should something go awry?
  10. Something I hope you and anyone else on FP never have to experience Ringo.
  11. The annual national convention for the Pontiac-Oakland Club International (POCI) will be held in the Wisconsin Dells, WI from June 24-28, 2018 at the Chula Vista Resort. You can get registration and more information at the link below: http://poci.org/POCI_Annual_Convention_Registration.cfm
  12. The Midwest Fiero Clubs are sponsoring the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Fiero in East Peoria Illinois, August 8-12, 2018. There will be a dinner cruise, a cruise and tour to the Pontiac-Oakland Musuem in Pontiac Ill, Fiero Celebrity Panel discussion and awards. For more information: www.Fiero35th.com Facebook: @midwestfieroclubs
  13. The 2018 GTOAA National Conventions will be held in Valley Forge, PA. It will be June 26-30, 2018. Contact the Susquehanna Valley GTO club for more information regarding lodging, registeration, etc. https://www.svgto.com/
  14. Check your brake fluid reservoir and see if its low. If so add fluid. You may need to "bleed" your brakes as well. Check all four corners and make sure your individual wheel cylinders or brake lines are not leaking. As for your overheating issue, it could be old/bad anti-freeze and perhaps you need to do a flush and fill with new correct antifreeze/water mixture. Your thermostat could be sticking and needs to be replaced. I'd start with those rather simple things first. The other three spark plug wires are up close to the firewall. Check out this YouTube video to give you idea of how to do it.
  15. The 1971 RPO L65, 265 HP 400 cubic inch 2bbl with the 99 heads were put into a variety of cars given the popularity of the 400 engine and the economy of the 2 barrel carb. These engines were put into Firebirds (F-bodies), Catalina/Grandville (B-bodies), and Lemans/T-37 (A-bodies) although I can't imagine they were put into the GTOs, Trans Ams or Grand Prixs. These engines could be mated to either a 3-speed manual transmission or TH400. The matching block casting number should be 481988.
  16. It's uncomfortably close to Ringo's neck of the woods.
  17. “A” gas rationing stickers are suppose to go on the windshield not on the bumper.
  18. This is definitely a one-off, custom front end. The stock '73 GTO/Lemans had a separate chrome bumper (like the rear) with the turn signals embedded in opposite sides of the bumper. You will notice that the turn signals have been removed or hidden as well. I think the person that did this spent a lot of work bringing the fender curves into the front fascia. It's a nice, unique touch. The only other front end that is commercially available for this car is the Grand Am since '73 was the first year for the Grand Am. But that has a completely different look from this.
  19. Sounds like a good plan. Sometimes you can get buy replacing just the starter solenoid for just a few bucks. If it is the whole starter, then you have to ask yourself this question, do you want to put back a stock heavy duty starter back in it's place or purchase a smaller hi-torque mini-starter? Many guys swear by the mini-starter. For me, Lucy is quite content with a stock HD starter.
  20. Check the battery cable going to the starter. Make sure it is not coming in contact with either the engine or the exhaust manifold. I had a cable that did and I had intermittent starting problems. The problem was the hot manifold or engine melted the wire insulation and allowed metal-to-metal contact. This would ground out the starter. Once the engine cooled and everything contracted, it would start again.
  21. I checked my local Kroger. The February edition is on sale now. So about 6-8 weeks.
  22. I guarantee some is going to get fired over this. GM hates seeing their intellectual property get out into the public before they are ready to release it. Especially in a media fiasco like this.
  23. Ran across this article today.....lots for the technoweenies to stare at and digest. https://jalopnik.com/gms-lawyers-just-inadvertently-confirmed-those-mid-engi-1821340731
