  3. These were typically printed by Pontiac and handed out at dealerships. Your best bet is trying to find them at literature stands at your local swap meets. I would contact Tim Dye at the Pontiac Oakland Museum in Pontiac Illinois. See if he has one on the Pontiac Oakland Club's library of Pontiac and Oakland material. If he does, ask him to electronically scan a copy for you (it may cost you a few bucks). That does two things for you: 1. You have an electronic copy of what you are looking for 2. You know what to look for at future swap meets for a hard copy

  7. The offset is determined more by the width of the wheel you are running rather than the height. So are you planning on running a 6", 7", 8", or even 10" wide wheel? The factory was pushing it with an 8" wheel for a '68 Firebird, 6" or 7" were common for the day. Another thing to consider is rolling the lip of the fenders to gain more clearance. I recommend purchasing a Percy WheelRite Wheel and Tire Fitment Tool so you can accurate measure offset, backspacing, and tire size of any car. It's cheap at under $100 from Summit Racing.   13. While I rarely challenge Lutz' thinking, I think on this one I will - to an extent. One thing his proclamation does not include but is rather implied is that the government will forbid you from owning a car or pod yourself. Either in the name of safety, common sense, or votes. Private firms like Amazon and Uber will own all the "pods" and dictate to the remaining transportation companies (since they won't really be automobiles at some point) what to build. These Amazon/Ubers will dictate prices in urban and rural areas - shades of unregulated monopoly - that we will then be forced to pay their ransom fees. Junkyards will have no one to sell parts to, so any old cars brought in will simply be completely crushed and recycled with little or no salvage value. People seem to be willing to accept the self-driving cars notion is only a good thing - like cattle to slaughter - because it is easy. They simple order up an Uber and away they go. What that means is we are blindly transferring ownership of the transportation infrastructure to a relatively small group of companies. Anyone see anything wrong with this picture? The only way to prevent Lutz' predication from coming true is to resist the urge to Uber. Continue to buy and drive cars responsibly. Sure self-driving vehicles have their place, I just don't think they will topple society in a scant 20 years. I've discussed before the need for a robust infrastructure that needs to be in place before any mass change to an all-electric vehicle society is truly viable. I won't re-hash those details. Mind you, those things still have to happen and we're all going to pay for it one way or another. Finally, the last problem is dictating or legislating choice. By saying you can't buy fossil fuel by 2040 (like China, UK, and France have done), you are saying what people can and cannot buy. The problem is governments are rarely successful at regulating personal choices, especially given their usual optimistic time frames. So while I suspect Lutz will ultimately be right (to an extent), I think his timing is off. I am not sure by how much though.
  14. One thing you can do to insure that your Trans Am is not anything particularly special is to reach out to PHS and get the build documentation on the car - based on the VIN. This will tell you how the car was built from the factory. You can also ask if this is a particularly rare car. If the car is not at all rare, by all means resto-mod away - as your wallet and time can afford. From what you describe,. I would be surprised if this was a rare or particularly desirable special edition TA. However, if its rare for some reason, you need to do your homework and evaluate what the car is worth both as is and restored. There is no point in getting upside down in a restoration if the market value isn't there.
  15. Congrats, but now I see a bit of a dilemma. The wrecked '93 is probably a numbers matching car, albeit damaged. So do you tear apart a numbers matching, 1 of 719 made, HO sedan to get your '95 road worthy again? Or is the '93 fixable/restorable and find something else for to put into your daily driver '95? I'd love to see Snow White back on the road, but it would awesome is to have Snow White on the road next to nearly identical twin Snow White II, assuming it's repairable and you have the money for both...two big ifs at the moment, in my opinion. So do what your wallet and heart tells you to do.
  16. Hi Tetru A couple of questions, so please bare with me. 1. Have you checked the gage fuse on the fuse block - it should be a 4A fuse. It's probably on the lower left of the fuse block. Is it bad or broken? 2. Have you removed the cluster and checked the gage bulbs to see if they are nearly opaque black? Over time, the original incandescent bulbs darken as the tungsten filament burns off somewhat. It turns almost an opaque blue/black and makes the bulb nearly useless. Of course a bulb can burn out too. Replacing the bulb is your only option at that point. 3. If the gage lights as a whole aren't working, then you may have a grounding issue or a torn flexible circuit board. If the bulbs need to be replaced, I would consider replacing them with LED bulbs so they never discolor/go opaque again. They cost a little more but I think its worth it in the end. I hope to do that with Lucy eventually myself. Do you have access to a '69 Bonneville/Catalina Shop Manual. It is a worth while investment. It will have diagrams and schematics on your car. It can help you locate the proper ground terminals for the dash. This YouTube video is for the '69 Firebird but I think you'll get the idea regarding grounding.
